Many wear a beard with that hairstyle too. And the top of the hair is combed over, usually young 30's it seems. Looks odd. What is with the men's hairstyle where the sides are cut close but the top is left long? And where did it's popularity come from? I know this hairstyle is not necessarily new but I had hoped it would go away by now.
Thanks, I figured that there was someone well known who popularized the style. No offense to your son, I am just old and about as far from hip hop/rap as you can get.My son has that haircut, as do about 20 other young'ish guys I know. It's been popularized by a hip hop/rap artist named Macklemore.
LOL - absolutely no offence taken, I think it looks kind of stupid! I'm not exactly on the cutting edge of trends in either fashion or music, and I like to mess with my kid by referring to the hair cut as the McIlroy, which starts him ranting about how embarrassingly out of touch I am.Thanks, I figured that there was someone well known who popularized the style. When I was a teen in the '50's it was called a bad haircut.
Short back and sides is a bit of an understatement...I thought it was just called "short back and sides"
Exactly! I keep seeing a connection to the mullet. One day people will see this style just as silly.
I may be in the minority here on TheDis, but I find it attractive (my fiance has had this haircut, with a beard, for years). Then again, I am 31 years old, so I'm in the target demographic, lol.
