Disney World Security and Underwire Bras

Is Disney World now using "wands" that they pass over you for security for the theme parks? If so, will they go off if you are wearing an underwire bra? I have been stressing over this for some reason....

are you asking if they are using this if so the answer is no they are not what they have been doing is asking random people to go through meter detector and I do not think simply things can set them off I think all they are looking for is bigger things like guns and knifes

If you're stressed, don't wear one with wire.

I always set off airport detectors with my underwire, but never anywhere else I've got through a detector and/or been wanded.

Yes, it's a real question. I'm assuming the wands work somewhat similar to how metal detectors work at the airports. I usually do not wear an underwire, but then change into one after passing through security. I will probably do the same.

I would think, unless you have some serious suspension system going on, you should probably be alright with an underwire bra :)

Just back. I was selected 5 times at 3 parks in 8 days to go through the metal detectors. I have underwires and it did not set off the metal detectors.

I never saw anyone "wanded" at any of the parks. I would think the wand is the back up option for having a reason to not go through the metal detector.

I haven't even noticed a bra setting off airport detectors since our first flight post 9/11, on 9/18.

And I've had a normal Goody brand barrette set off the metal detector at LAX, so I've dealt with at least one far-too-sensitive detector.

I always wear underwire and it's never set off an airport detector, nor did it set off the detectors when DH and I were randomly selected a few times to go through security at the parks last month.

I actually had an Alex and Anis bracelet set off a detector in the airport! Hadn't though anything about it, until they had me take them off and I passed just fine. So, you really never know. But one thing I do know is that Disney is barely using the detectors. Since the change, I have not once gone through a detector. And that's with one week stay, one weekend stay and a one day visit. Never went through one. So, don't stress, ok? :lovestruc

As someone who uses one of those wands to scan people at the security checkpoint at the local amusement park I can say that no, underwire bras do not go off. Cell phones shoved inside bras instead of pockets or purses cause the wand to go off. Pocketknives tucked inside bras will go off. But you should be just fine, even if you are supporting some serious underwire support!

An underwire bra set off a metal detector for me at an airport years ago and I'm always paranoid when I go through one that I'll get pulled aside. But it happened in a long time, so improved technology is probably the reason it's not happening anymore...either in the detectors or the type of wires used in bras now?

Nowadays, a lot of the underwires are made of plastic. My bras with plastic never set the airport metal detectors off but the one with wires always do. Every single time. If I could only remember which were which, it would make life much easier
