Anyone Else Miss The Original POTC?

I know they adjusted it to add the movie characters, but does anyone else miss the original?

I was there about 4 years ago and they added some movie characters from my trip before the movie, but this trip it seemed almost like a complete transformation.

I certainly understand why it's done(not that I like it all), but I just miss the original attraction I grew up loving ride after ride.

I did notice that there were no cannon ball splashes anymore?

No cannon splashes at WDW? There was last October when I went through - both times.

Having done the original and various changes over the years - I do like this version. Wonder if it will change again after the next movie?

Yes, yes, yes.
I never saw the movies and have zero interest in Mr. Depp. I prefer the original, classic version. Political incorrectness (pirates chasing women) and all.

Yes, I loved the movies, but still would have rather them left the old story.

We rode it 3 times on 3 different days and no cannon ball splashes... Just a light mimicking where the cannon ball would land.

Maybe something mechanical was down... But, with so many changes I just assumed they did away with them.

Me too! Thankfully, no changes to The Haunted Mansion! I know the movie wasn't a box office hit...

No one likes to see changes to things the love or grew up with... I remember, before the movies I think, when they changed from the pirate chasing the woman around, to the woman chasing the pirate with the broom to get away from the reason a pirate would chase a woman...

I miss the part right before the drop where it would say, "There be rough waters ahead." Why couldn't they have at least left that part? I also loved the cannon ball splashes. You never knew when & where it would be!

Also, when did the pirate mermaid skeleton arrive? I never noticed that before.....

I do love the mermaids singing in the beginning though. That was a nice spooky touch.

WE WANTS THE RED HEAD!! :)

I dislike the change from the pirates chasing the women to the women chasing the pirates. Any kid old enough to understand what is going on is old enough to not be bothered by it, and it shouldn't bother adults either. This way, just not very realistic. I don't mind Jack Sparrow being in the ride, I think they did a wonderful job incorporating him, and like the ride as is except for that one detail.

I agree. I don't actually mind Capt. jack Sparrow, but do miss the less pc version.

I think the change makes it funny instead of totally nasty. I personally don't like thinking of THAT sort of assault when on vacation. (Being smacked with a broom is a lesser bit of assault to think about)

I don't know about MK's version, but the Sparrows at DL are morphing into a face almost unrecognizable as Sparrow. It's very odd.

Besides Jack Sparrow and a couple other minor changes things are pretty much the same as always, right? It's not as if there has been some dramatic overhaul. I could be wrong, but I can't think of anything that has happened that would equate to a 'complete transformation.'

The cannonball splashes must've been down when you went because their still there and usually working

No. I like it with the movie elements. The only thing I'm sad they took away was Davy Jones in the mist and put Blackbeard in instead.
I think they alternate between them. I've seen both of them on multiple trips.

That's what I thought. In fact, I thought I read somewhere that they juiced it up with louder cannon fire and a bigger splash. This would be something fairly recent, like right after it reopened from the last rehab.
