Increased ticket prices coming soon?

I actually think it happens as soon as tomorrow (Total Speculation). Wouldn't the incentive be for the increase to be before the President's Day weekend that starts in Thursday or Friday? Easter earlier this year (March 27th), so we start going into Spring Break crowds a week after or two after President's Day.

The vast majority of tickets are purchased well in advance. So doing it "now" doesn't equate to a retail bump as you are speculating about.

My prediction is the change to tiered happens soon-- with an actual decrease in the low season, a small (maybe equal or a little less than the decrease) increase for level 2, and a larger increase for premium. This will allow them to institute the tiered plan with as little backlash as possible, and from then it is just a matter of manipulating dates and rates......plug and play...

Tiered is happening in shanghai for it's opening. It'll come but my guess is they are going ot test the waters there for at least the summer..

Magic Band prices just went up so there's not much left except ticket prices to raise.

I wonder if they will increase their price on tickets when the Canadian dollar has gone from even with the US dollar to costing $1.40 to buy a dollar US in the last year and a half. I am guessing other currencies aren't doing so well either and I know that Brazil is having an enormous economical meltdown

Fair point...I know many Canadians who were planning trips and have canceled/dropped plans due to the huge drop in the Canadian Dollar...

Brazil's economy is forecasted by many economists to crash and never fully recover - similar to Japan since 1987. They are leveraged and are supposedly desperately just trying to keep things afloat until after the Olympics.

I could very easily see Brazil travel to wdw going from "robust" to "gone" in a short amount of time.

I wonder how big the Canadian market is now? I know that Florida as a whole is very much tied to Canadian dollars and that Leafs have long been a big part of wdw travelers...but I wonder what actual percentages are?

Many Canadians are canceling or postponing trips because of the Canadian dollar being bad right now.

I don't have hard numbers, but I can tell you the numbers are HUGE. And I would wager it's not a small percentage. Just in our small village of 350 people, I know many that go often (not this year). Growing up in a larger town, in a small province, there were many, many travelers to WDW, especially on March break. My own MIL goes to Florida every year... but not this year due to the dollar, and probably not next year, either. Many places in the US are hurting because of the low CDN dollar, especially border towns. We live right on the US/Canada border, and several businesses across the border, have had to lay off people, because they've lost our Canadian business. Ski hills (locally), but I've heard as far away as Montana, are having to offer Canadian-at-par specials, because they're hurting from lost business. While most Americans don't realize it, Canadians and their spending are pretty important to your economy.

If you can afford it, I would. Pretty much a certainty they'll have increased by then. I really wish we had the money to buy tickets now, but now happening.

I was going to clarify my post, but you replied already?

So, I kinda thought that I should buy tickets in advance, but now the question becomes do I buy them "now" as in "today," or sometime before the end of February?

Honestly? I'd buy them today if you have the money, because there's a chance the price could be raised by the end of February.

I think their tiered testing in Paris is sufficient to give them the process/data they need.

Probably, I can see the current dates in the AP blackout for florida passes being the first version of tiered. Those are really the only busier than any other crowded and busy day.

Here's a post from almost a month ago on at least some Canadian's viewpoints- a lot of that is focused on the lesser deals given to Canadians this time around coupled with their exchange rate issue.

I would love to do that too but our trip isn't until Sep 2017. We have 5 adults only going so everyone is paying their equal shares but it would put too much of a burden on our finances if we bought now..for the most part I'm the only one that's like itching to buy now instead of knowing we would pay more later (I'm the frugal one of the bunch) the others are more or less just accepting of whatever price increase occurrs.

So I am trying to book my vacation tonight for August and it won't let me add the park hopper nor change anything in my cart for that matter. I hope the prices aren't changing tomorrow....

I've had the exact same thing happening to me for a couple weeks now.
