DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Morning gents! Our plans for our November 10th Anniversary trip are coming together. Was previously booked at CBR and was able to grab a reservation at VWL through a point rental for a little bit more. Going to try and switch over to the Poly at the 7-month mark, but not holding my breath on that one.

Pretty excited about this trip as we are leaving the little guy at home and going to try an take in all the flavors and such of Food and Wine and other activities normally curtailed by a little one.

After working pretty much all of January, it's my day off!
So anyway, I've been at work since 6:30am for a 16 hour double shift. A quick trip home for a brief nap then back at work for 6:30am tomorrow for my second day off.

The money's good, though.
I'm guessing "day off" means something different in Canadian?

One perk about being on campus is having a fresh urinal multiple times a day to pee.

Grand Floridian. I kid you not.

FWIW, I'm halfway through the first DISDad thread... I'm pretty sure my IQ has dropped since beginning to read it.
Oh man, that's from way back when we were half way coherent. Good luck in the later threads.

Happy Friday morning. Not sure if I posted this yet, but found out dd qualified for regional swim meet in at least one event. I am really proud of her, especially as she is in 8th grade and swimming this is HS team. I don't think she will qualify this year for state, but she's definitely making progress.

Took the day off for DS's basketball regional playdowns and a storm in that part of the province has pushed them to tomorrow and Sunday. So I dropped him off at school and took the day off anyway.

Have a great day. Start drinking early. :drinking1

Top O the Mornin Dads! DW headed up t Chicago for a girls cousins long weekend reunion which means............. you got it me and DS are flying solo for Super Bowl Weekend :-) Oh wait, DD is coming home today as she has a 12 hour shift at the assisted living place so so much for just a guys weekend >:( Have a great weekend, it's the last football weekend for a bit.

Nice - enjoy the long weekend

Enjoy the Superbowl. I've got the house stock piled with food and liquor and am ready to start tailgaiting tomorrow. :lmao:

Grand Floridian. I kid you not.

You know, I'd imagine people would be surprised when you take out your camera and start taking pictures in the men's bathroom. I think this group somehow understands it when pictures like this are posted from you or Tim. :scared1: :lmao:

This feels like a Candid Camera episode waiting to happen.

Meet up with Chris as we were both on a behind the scenes tour. He hasn't been around here for a long while though.

Yeah, it's been nice seeing some of the "originals" popping back in. I miss talking to Chris. Hope he comes back sometime.

I love the Super Bowl. The one day a year when you are expected to eat nothing but garbage all day long.

Happy Friday!
Thanks for everyone's answers. I'm going to see if I can arrange a DVC tour on Saturday the 16th of April. I think it would be a good way to spend a few hours in the afternoon.

Next - I asked earlier, but, is anyone planning on being in WDW for the Star Wars 1/2 Marathon in April? That's my next trip, and it'd be nice to have a DisDad meet in WDW.

DVC Experts - Just rented points at VWL (standard studio) for November 5-12. Hoping to switch to Poly with the 7-month window opens. First, looking into y'alls crystal balls, how bad is the construction going to impact our stay? Second, should even get my hopes up on scoring one of the Poly studios? The guy renting the points to me is fully open to trying to grab them for me, but I can't expect him to get up early to do so.

You can take your "little guy" off?!?!?!?

I'm guessing "day off" means something different in Canadian?

Apparently. Today's my 2nd day off... but I only have to work 8 hours today!

This day in Disney History - 1953 Peter Pan Premiered.

A movie about a boy who never grows up? It'll never fly.

Good luck on getting Poly at the 7 month window. We have done the Holidays twice but both were between Christmas and New Years. Our 11 month is AKV but at 7 month window we were never able to get anything other than SS or OKW. You are going way earlier though and kids are in school so you should have a real good chance to get Poly.

Congrats to her, that is quite an accomplishment

For my January trip I waitlisted for a few days at the Poly and I got it. If you can't get it at 7 months have him waitlist it in hopes it comes through. Construction isn't going to be a big problem. Pool is open along with everything in Great Ceremonial House. I stayed in Tokelau and they were working on the quiet pool area but it didn't impact my stay there. Tokelau is the closest DVC to the GCH so if you get in, you may want to request that building.

Hope you get in, it is a great place to stay and you have to try Trader Sam's. Kind of fun when you are with a group or a lot of people are there.

No, but I did go home early today from work. Does that count? We have made it a Mexican food night for whatever reason. So, we do the usual burritos, I make some guacamole as well as queso sauce, and bought a 3 lb bag of tortilla chips from Sam's.

That is not one of the peak time of year normally, unless there is a Marathon weekend scheduled. That week may be "Jersey" week, but I don't know if DVC occupancy gets hit then as well.

Congrats to her, that is quite an accomplishment

.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Friday afternoon and trying to do another Powerpoint. I understand why people keep scotch in their desks.

Death by PPT. Good luck,

I need that kind of job! Not the one with the PowerPoint stress, that I have. I want the one where I can keep a bottle of Scotch!

Work for government, and then you too can have no pay and no stress as well - until budget cuts are announced I've not kept a bottle at the office for some time as the cleanup staff were going thru drawers and helping themselves. They never found my stash, but wanted to be on the safe side.
