What shoes to wear in the parks

I hate when i go to disney with new people and they have to go home to change shoes. i always tell people to wear shoes you find confertable

I have never had foot problems (and I'm old) until a broken ankle with plates, screws and nails last year affected entire foot. I was very concerned about this trip to Disney (last week) and after hearing so much about the Sketcher's Go Walks, I impulsively went into the store 2 days before my trip and asked what would be best for Disney with a (now) problem foot.

She immediately said the Go Walk 3 with ties. Said it's the store's official "Disney shoe" whenever anyone asks because of the many reports back.

The colors of the tie version aren't particularly girly but decided to try it anyway. I have never, ever bought new shoes right before a trip so I was worried. I shouldn't have been because they were PERFECT. Absolutely PERFECT.
I walked 21,000+ steps each of the 4 days and didn't give my foot one single thought. I take several trips in a year to Disney and will never go without them.

I went into the store yesterday to thank her. She said she hears it all the time.

I've always worn Keens or Chacos hiking sandals. They are made to be supportive, be on your feet for lots of walking and dry out quickly if they get wet. I work in retail and hit the 20K+ steps at work in an 8 hour shift and wear Skechers gowalk 3's for work as do many of my co-workers. I'll be taking my go walk 3's and chacos every time.

Last year I wore Sketchers Go walks and Mary jane crocs worked great. The go walks got soaked in a rainstorm so it was nice to have a comfortable back up. We also used body glide every day.

I wore my Birkenstocks my entire trip last April and they were perfect. So comfy and my feet did not sweat.

I've been on these boards for at least 5 years, and the most often recommended shoe is Keens. I own 3 pairs. I wore them on my trips in 2009 and 2011. Both trips I got blisters. 2009 I don't particularly remember the blisters stopping me, and we got rain so bad one day in Epcot that the pathway around WS had 6 inches deep of water (not exaggerating, kids were sitting playing in it), so I was very grateful to have quick drying shoes. In 2011 however the blisters were so bad that I ended up wearing my moms spare socks with her sandals. The blisters were in my arches, which were quite high. Now my feet are wider and can't fit into Keens at all. In 2014, on a 3 day no parks trip I wore GoWalks, and my entire feet were just covered in blisters. On my CP going to the parks every day I often wore a pair of Dr. Scholl's ballet flats with 3/4s insoles from my podiatrist. I also bought a pair of Sketchers sandals that secure all around the foot, as holding my shoes on rides at Universal and being scared out of my wits that I was going to lose them wasn't fun and those shoes weren't terrible.

For my next trip I'm taking Orthaheel flip-flops, which I probably won't wear to the parks (I've never had such good ones before, but when I wore my Sanuks and Fip-Flops to MK the balls of my feet got blisters the size of silver dollars), the previously mentioned Sketchers sandals for Universal, and my addidas tennies with my custom orthodics.

I should mention that I have PF and while on my CP developed Achilles tendinitis and ended up in a walking boot for 3 months, so I have to be very particular about my shoes.

You would be very brave to wear converse. My favorite Disney walking shoes are Sketchers Yoga Mat sneakers. I often wear flip flops every other days to air out my feet.

On our last trip it was very cold. I wore my UGG's and they were super comfortable the whole time. :)

For me (and my "weird" feet, according to my hubby)...New Balance sneakers or Teva or Keen sandals work best. When it's warm I can't stand having my feet completely covered with sneakers, so I'd personally stick with GOOD sandals.

I plan on switching out between my comfy Asics (I'm a nurse, and these are my go-to work shoes!) and some Chacos I just ordered. Heard great things about these hiking sandals. I hate wet feet, so I'm hoping they work for me. They should be here next week.

GO Walks and "Birks"... I must say I am always in flip flops or no shoes at all. I have to wear dress shoes for work so on my down time I love comfy. My daughter bought me some Go Walks as she she thinks my "Birks" are hippyish LOL any way I must say I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jandals have always worked fine for me! I get embarrassing tan lines across the straps though!

I've worn just regular vans, and i regretted it. Most recently I bought a pair of Nike Free's, and they were so light and comfortable. Highly recommend for walking around the parks!

I usually wear my workout shoes, but I have worn my (very well worn) Converse and done fine. I'm currently trying out my Sketchers Go Walk with insoles, but they're still really uncomfortable.

you know I always see people asking bout what shoes to wear, I wear crocs cause thats what i wear unless I am barefoot or in mocassins, I have bad calluses and thats all I wear now... ten years ago I would not have hesitated to where my Chuck's.... I think the most important thing is to wear shoes you are used too, and that are well broken in...

Slip on Skechers Go Walks for the plane (with socks for going through security!)
Teva Tirra Sandals for park days
Teva flip flops for evenings / pool time

I haven't yet worn them at Disney, but I love my Saltwater sandals for walking long distances in warmer weather. All the benefits of flip flops but much more comfortable - I've happily worn them to walk 9/10 miles over the course of a day. They're also waterproof so hopefully ideal for summer downpours/water rides. They're not cheap (well, at least not in the UK - think they're more affordable on the other side of the Atlantic) but worth every penny IMO.

KEENS! They're SO comfy! I wear them everytime I go to the parks. I wore them hiking on a camping trip in Montana summer of 2014. Lots of different colors to choose from, too. Best place to get them is Amazon. A lot cheaper there than a recreation store.
