Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE RESORT Information & Questions

Does anyone know what the doors to the rooms are made out of? Would something magnetic stick or is it best to bring some tape to lightly hang something?

I wanted to take my "Congratulations Graduate" banners from my grad dinner to the hotel and hang on my door to celebrate. Just wasn't sure what would work best :)

If you are ever going to tape things to as hotel wall or door, use painters tape. Other adhesives may do damage which they will bill you for at a high rate.
I agree with Baklava, I wouldn't tape anything to the out side of the door. Also, depending on the humidity on the time you go, painters tape may not stick very well for a long period of time outside. You might consider taping the banner to the inside of the window facing out. I've used painters tape before on a window and it stayed up quite a while.

That's what I would do - then you don't have to worry about anyone taking it.

For reference (since I never did find the legend) 9051 in Oak Manor is a Royal Room. The top of that close up is the courtyard that faces the river and has a fountain in the middle which is light up in colors at night. It's quite pretty. Also, it's an Ingress portal and you can totally hack it from bed in 9051...

The doors are metal, we put a big "Just Married" magnet on the door during our honeymoon in 2014 and it stuck great.

Hello. We are heading home to POR on April 20th through the 30th and with the recent room special, our travel agent was able to save us a few hundred dollars and upgrade us to a river view room. My DD (11) really wants to stay in an Alligator Bayou room, but looking at the map, the river views seem a little further of a walk to the main building and bus stop. When I send in my fax in a few months for a room request, would I be better off in one of the mansions with a river view (have already done the Royal Room thing so I don't want that)? Just wondering if anyone had a river view room in Alligator Bayou that wasn't too far from the main area. Thanks in advance for any tips, hints or advice!

You'll be fine, River View rooms in AB are all quite a short walk. Put building 14 in your request if you like, as those are the best located rooms in the whole of POR - but even if you get 27 or 38 the walks are still pretty short.

I am here now and have the strangest room set up I have ever seen in Alligator Bayou. We have no separate vanity area. Just one huge bathroom with double sinks and an armoire in the room for hanging clothes. No Murphy bed either. I've been to this resort over a half dozen times and never seen a big bathroom like this. Nice change of pace!

That's how our bathroom/room was set up on our visit in Ab section, I liked it

That sounds like a wheelchair accessible room.

Oh that makes sense! But there is no low shower and its on an upper floor so that never occurred to me. I like the big bathroom but it feels so weird. Hahaha.

That's a new one on me then! There should not be any wheelchair accessible rooms (either shower or tub style) on the upper floors in Alligator Bayou at all (as there are no elevators).

What does your room show as on my floorplan maps? Any chance of a photo or two of the layout?

So not all AB rooms have the extra bed??

They all do, with the only exception being the modified wheelchair accessible rooms where the added armoire does permit enough space for the bench seat & extra bed. Hence this conversation, as those type of accessible rooms should be on the ground floor only in AB, as far as I know.

Yes, my first stay at POR, I was placed in AB room and I assumed I would get pull down bed. However, I did not. I got one of the rooms described above. We actually enjoyed the extra space. It wasn't until later, that I figured it must have been a wheelchair accessible room. However, I don't remember railings or anything by the toilet or in the shower, bec I think that would have been a dead give away that it was an accessible room. However, we were on the ground level, so it must have been an accessible room
