AMA Former Jungle Cruise Skipp

:welcome: to the DISboards, Ty!

What were some of your "signature" spiel lines?

How long was a shift, and how many "cruises" did you take per shift?

Prior to the current system we used to "Bump" each other manualy from position to position.

A normal rotation was boat (3 ten minute trips) dock position (load, unload, greeter fast pass) boat again(3 trips again) dock position then break (15 min break or 30 min lunch)

I was full time so 8 hour shifts provided u didn't put in for an early release. Which I did often. I usually opened but worked some nights and parties.

Favorites: when you got a great crew, friendships, riding fellow skippers boats, making someone's trip special.

Least favorites: outdoor attraction(no escaping the heat) mean guests, working with narcs

I never took it for granite and when I see a castmember stoop down to speak directly to a child, to this day, I still choke up. It was a once in a lifetime experience I was 19 years old and I always wanted to work there. I didn't go through the CP. I was hired for the Jungle Cruise out the gate and I never cross trained anywhere else.

I also had to learn how to evacuate POTC as at the time this was an almost weekly occurrence during my shift. This probably happened more frequently than I saw as I worked mostly mornings and rides probably tend to breakdown later in the day.

It was very thorough training I was so nervous the first time time going "live" my leg shook so bad my trainer put his foot on top of my foot. By my third trip the spiel was second nature. Used to hear my roommate (we had a connecting bathroom) doing her cruise in her sleep

That's too funny. So what do you do now? Are you still in Orlando area?
