Wine and Dine 2015

Something that baffled me with the portapotty situation... there was a line of them right by where we exited the buses, in the parking lot outside of the area where you had to get your bags inspected and stuff. When I got there, there were very few people in those lines, maybe like 5 lines of 10. I breezed in and out in about 5 minutes! I don't know why more people weren't waiting for those and were instead waiting in the insane lines inside, but I am glad they stayed in there! ;)

Hi, DW here. We got back yesterday. So many things to say (and catch up on this thread). This was our first RunDisney event.

But I just have one question... where do people get the Disney yoga/running pants?

Wow, guess I should be glad I was in G and not H with that annoying lady, LOL. I managed to maintain a sub-10:00 pace despite the crowds and despite slowing/stopping about four times (twice for water, once to ask the pace lady where the heck we were, and once in that dang disco tunnel). The party was good when I first got there, but it did get crowded later. We still had a good time and left around 3:30am.

I'm still disappointed the course was cut. Oh well.

For anyone still feeling a little salty I recommend listening to the Mickey Miles podcast on Wine and Dine. It gave a few insights that I haven't seen before. For example the race was in jeopardy before those storms even popped up from the heat and humidity, and the volunteers at animal kingdom were evacuated around the time those crazy winds came in and the temp dropped. They give a really level headed report on the race.

I still feel like I'm the only person who didn't really notice the heat. For the first time in my life I think I hydrated properly haha

Anyway here's a link for that podcast. http://www.mickeymilespodcast.com/listen/

That might actually put me to sleep faster than college football.

:rotfl:!! It's okay I highlighted the two most important facts. Honestly they're far from my favorite I just wanted to see if they had extra info and they did.

I didn't think the heat was bad at all. Wasn't it 80-ish? Then again, I've been running in Las Vegas all summer.

I've been in MA in the north east. I was sweating my butt off every day I was there. The only time I was warm was when we were evacuated because everyone got squished together.

I have noticed something in my Marathon Photo album: There are several photos of me and a young woman in DHS. I was a bib number in the 1400's. Her bib is in the low 4500's. Based on the table of corral assignments, she should have been at least 2 corrals (and a couple thousand people) behind me. To catch me with the head start I had, she would have passed me like the Road Runner cartoon. But I see that her bib has a sticker on it, directly over the corral assignment location. It looks like it says "B" on a red-ish circle. I thought no corral changes were being made at the Expo per RunDisney. In the end, she finished with a chip time within 2 minutes of DW's time. I want to be clear: I'm not upset about this, I am simply pondering it, and wonder if anybody else saw anything like it?

Thank you, that was very informative.

Yes - I saw quite a few runners getting stickers on their bibs at the Runner Relations booth while I was waiting in line to pay for my merch. I think with the recent rash in "hacked" PoT submissions that rD is trying to rectify the issue as best they can. It's also a safety thing - it's not safe for an A corral runner to have to blast from the back of the pack ... not safe for the runner or the others around them - I'm thinking @crewmatt may have been a runner that was improperly corralled for this race as well?

Anyway. During the delay in the Fieldhouse, I was chatting with a gal in the restroom. Her bib number was in the 14000s, but she had an A sticker over her original corral letter. Not to judge a book by its cover, but I had to do a double-take because I thought she was someone famous ... she was just in AMAZING shape.

Also, and just my dos pesos - I think with the sheer number of deferrals and late registrations as people dropped from charities and TAs (there were bibs being purchased via TA as late as Oct. 6th-ish) that rD was doing its best to accommodate runners legally registering bibs that may not have had a chance to submit PoT and clearly had a reason to be in an early corral.

One year my bib was printed correctly, but had the wrong timing chip number attached to the back. I noticed it and runDisney replaced it with a new number that didn't have a corral assignment - they attached a sticker with my corral. I think the "no corral changes" meant that people couldn't bring late proofs of time and ask for changes, but for operational (and probably other reasons like marketing, celebrities, who knows what else) reasons, runDisney could still make stickered corral assignments/changes.

When your go in through a TA or charity late in the game you enter your time at registration.

Mosy changes were people that had proof of properly submitted times that for some reason were not in the system. I met one lady who said she was flat out told no proof equal no move. All members in my running cluv are suggested to screen cap their proof of time submisison just in case. The worst thing is that if someone has your last name and DOB (easily obtained through FB) they can delete or change your POT. We have had members who realize their stuff has been changed and we whole heartedly believe it is malicious ex member doing it.

I just finished a half marathon under 2:05. It was a faster pace per mile than my new Disney Wine and Dine 6.7 PB. Who knew a four week taper could work? I wasn't really sure I was running it until after my coffee this morning. Race day registration how easy is that?
I hope that works for me too! :) I registered for mine just before the midnight online deadline on Wednesday night because I didn't want to deal with race morning registration tomorrow.

Have fun! We had an online deadline too; there were like 150 people total, a real club race. I found the bathrooms less traveled like you suggested;) The real proof of time will come at the turkey trot. If I have a good 10k I might wiggle into corral C. Bah, ha, ha, ha.

Wish I could catch one soon. Closest one I can do is mid January, hopefully I can keep myself some what ready until then. I just want to get my first one out of the way.

I did a 9 mile training run today, with a 13:24 average mile. Very happy with that. I had a 4-5 miler scheduled but with the W&D cut short I had to rethink my whole training schedule again. I have a Half on 12/12 so trying to get ready for that.
