I'll admit to being on those who lurked on your last DR but didn't comment (sorry ) - but this trip looks fantastic and you're a great writer so I'm joining in even if I'm a little late!
Those baklava look delicious - do you know if they're available at the CS place as well or only the TS locations?
As long as your posting now, it's all good. I haven't finished reading your report, sadly... I'm so bad at reading reports, even though I love to.
As mom says, there are some baklava in the case in the back of the Moroccan counter-service. If you are there at F&W (or F&G, from that matter), I've heard a lot of reports that the the baklava at the booth tastes 'fresher' then the ones at the counter-service. If you have time for a bar stop, too, Spice Road also has a baklava platter that will have three different kinds or so like this one does, and there's never any wait for there except for Illuminations time (and I believe you can just stand at the bar anyway).
Glad to follow along on your adventures again and to help prod you to keep updating! Marrakesh looks good but I think I will stick to the Tangerine Cafe, we "shared" there last time and with 4 boys including my DH that means one bite for me That one was a hit!
Thanks for the prodding! We actually like Tangerine Cafe a lot too, though we haven't been there for a while. Marrakesh is definitely more 'full meal' compared to Tangerine Cafe's more 'street food' atmosphere, I think, but for a quick counterservice, Tangerine Cafe is one of my favorites, if not my favorite in Epcot.
(And I'd steal more bites from the family! That's not fair!)
Alright, continuing on, that meal at Morocco was around 4:30. We left, unpacked, and basically crashed in to bed early (probably eight?). Which lead to us being up and wide awake at around four in the morning. What do you do then? Go find somewhere to eat besides the food court, obviously! We made a quick reservation online as soon as we woke up, and headed out. Unfortunately, it was an Epcot day (if it had been an MK day, it would have been a lot easier). That meant food over at the Epcot resorts, and as they don't let you walk through Epcot to get to them, meant getting on a bus to MGM (HS, whatever you want to call it), and walking the long way to the Yacht Club as the MGM boat wasn't running yet. That probably helped contribute to my blister problem later in the week...
CAPTAIN'S GRILL
Still, it was worth it.
This is the very friendly Leiford, pouring a press pot of coffee we shared. This was the only complaint we had about the meal: this pot was extremely bitter. We've had press pot's all around the resorts, as well as coffee from the various stands: never did it taste anything like this. The coffee in the food court tasted better! I'm more inclined to think something was messed up then that this is how it is usually served here.
As for mom's meal, she got... sausage! Yep. That's it. Yay. Disney sausage. Yummy. (That's sarcasm. )
(I forgot to turn this picture to face the right way. She hates when I don't do that.)
Okay, okay, and also the Dark Chocolate Waffles. They are, in fact, dark chocolate waffles, with a dried cherry compote, expresso marscapone (whipped type) cream, and then chocolate shavings. It came with maple syrup on the side, but it didn't need it (mom put that on her sausage, as she does that). She really enjoyed these. The one bite I got I enjoyed quite a bit, too.
I won, though, with my meal: yes, that is a lobster omelet.
Lobster for breakfast. You can't not win with that. This was *good* lobster. It was probably Florida, not Maine, but it wasn't rubbery, chewy, or anything. Just butter poached and delicious. Also win the omelet was asparagus, then it was topped with a rather tasty chive cream (there may have been some of that inside, too). Then there were hashbrowns that were around average, which is actually petty good for Disney (no real flavor without something added, put good potato, at least). There was also a little salad on the side, as you can see, which was crisp and a bit tangy; I'm not sure what dressing was on it, but I liked it.
Captain's Grill has some other interesting stuff- a vanilla french toast, too, IIRC- and they also have a full buffet, that while smaller then say, Cape May's, also seems to be refreshed quicker and is cheaper I believe. It has a make your own omelet station, but sadly no lobster to put in the make your own omelet, and thus is inferior to the regular menu, in my opinion. Irregardless of if you're a fan of buffets or ala carte, it's one of our favorite places for a quiet breakfast, and now that they let you in early in Epcot, it's not a bad deal. We walked right through the back gates with no line, and then ended up with the five million people milling around test track and walked right on it. Nice.
Next... booths and demos! I'm sorry for the delay on this: both my internet and my computer are behaving awfully.
