I'll admit to being on those who lurked on your last DR but didn't comment (sorry :worried:) - but this trip looks fantastic and you're a great writer so I'm joining in even if I'm a little late!

Those baklava look delicious - do you know if they're available at the CS place as well or only the TS locations?

As long as your posting now, it's all good. ;) I haven't finished reading your report, sadly... I'm so bad at reading reports, even though I love to.

As mom says, there are some baklava in the case in the back of the Moroccan counter-service. If you are there at F&W (or F&G, from that matter), I've heard a lot of reports that the the baklava at the booth tastes 'fresher' then the ones at the counter-service. If you have time for a bar stop, too, Spice Road also has a baklava platter that will have three different kinds or so like this one does, and there's never any wait for there except for Illuminations time (and I believe you can just stand at the bar anyway).

Glad to follow along on your adventures again and to help prod you to keep updating! Marrakesh looks good but I think I will stick to the Tangerine Cafe, we "shared" there last time and with 4 boys including my DH that means one bite for me :lmao: That one was a hit!

Thanks for the prodding! We actually like Tangerine Cafe a lot too, though we haven't been there for a while. Marrakesh is definitely more 'full meal' compared to Tangerine Cafe's more 'street food' atmosphere, I think, but for a quick counterservice, Tangerine Cafe is one of my favorites, if not my favorite in Epcot.

(And I'd steal more bites from the family! That's not fair!)

Alright, continuing on, that meal at Morocco was around 4:30. We left, unpacked, and basically crashed in to bed early (probably eight?). Which lead to us being up and wide awake at around four in the morning. What do you do then? Go find somewhere to eat besides the food court, obviously! We made a quick reservation online as soon as we woke up, and headed out. Unfortunately, it was an Epcot day (if it had been an MK day, it would have been a lot easier). That meant food over at the Epcot resorts, and as they don't let you walk through Epcot to get to them, meant getting on a bus to MGM (HS, whatever you want to call it), and walking the long way to the Yacht Club as the MGM boat wasn't running yet. That probably helped contribute to my blister problem later in the week...

CAPTAIN'S GRILL

Still, it was worth it. :)

This is the very friendly Leiford, pouring a press pot of coffee we shared. This was the only complaint we had about the meal: this pot was extremely bitter. We've had press pot's all around the resorts, as well as coffee from the various stands: never did it taste anything like this. The coffee in the food court tasted better! I'm more inclined to think something was messed up then that this is how it is usually served here.

As for mom's meal, she got... sausage! Yep. That's it. Yay. Disney sausage. Yummy. (That's sarcasm. :P)

(I forgot to turn this picture to face the right way. She hates when I don't do that.)

Okay, okay, and also the Dark Chocolate Waffles. They are, in fact, dark chocolate waffles, with a dried cherry compote, expresso marscapone (whipped type) cream, and then chocolate shavings. It came with maple syrup on the side, but it didn't need it (mom put that on her sausage, as she does that). She really enjoyed these. The one bite I got I enjoyed quite a bit, too.

I won, though, with my meal: yes, that is a lobster omelet.

Lobster for breakfast. You can't not win with that. This was *good* lobster. It was probably Florida, not Maine, but it wasn't rubbery, chewy, or anything. Just butter poached and delicious. Also win the omelet was asparagus, then it was topped with a rather tasty chive cream (there may have been some of that inside, too). Then there were hashbrowns that were around average, which is actually petty good for Disney (no real flavor without something added, put good potato, at least). There was also a little salad on the side, as you can see, which was crisp and a bit tangy; I'm not sure what dressing was on it, but I liked it.

Captain's Grill has some other interesting stuff- a vanilla french toast, too, IIRC- and they also have a full buffet, that while smaller then say, Cape May's, also seems to be refreshed quicker and is cheaper I believe. It has a make your own omelet station, but sadly no lobster to put in the make your own omelet, and thus is inferior to the regular menu, in my opinion. ;) Irregardless of if you're a fan of buffets or ala carte, it's one of our favorite places for a quiet breakfast, and now that they let you in early in Epcot, it's not a bad deal. We walked right through the back gates with no line, and then ended up with the five million people milling around test track and walked right on it. Nice. :)

Next... booths and demos! I'm sorry for the delay on this: both my internet and my computer are behaving awfully.

It was amazing the breakfast availability when we looked that morning. But, we did want to stay close enough to Epcot to make rope drop. Captain's Grill is usually a good choice for us; we've had breakfast and lunch here several times before without many complaints.

Dark Chocolate Waffles.

This was really outside of my comfort zone. I am an eggs for "breakfast eaten out" type of gal. (I'm a never eat breakfast other then a container of yogurt during morning meeting in my day to day life.) I rarely eat pancakes, waffles or French toast. But I am also a dark chocolate type of gal - so why not? I enjoyed these. But, they are not something I would care to eat on a regular basis. Almost too much for such an early hour, but I did manage to put them away! And syrup on sausages is good!

Lobster for breakfast. You can't not win with that.

Yes, lobster for breakfast wins. Always.

I can't wait to hear more about your adventures. Sounds like you have a great time together!

How could she not have fun with me? :P

(She had all day to respond, so she deserves a little poke! And - everyone should comment in Arial font. She'll love that!)

I'm in! I just read and really enjoyed your May trip report and then found you over here. Great reviews and nice pics, I like your style!

And, I'll be traveling to WDW with my mom in December. While I've done Disney with my family before, never just with my mom. So, I'm especially liking your planning and trip tips.

The waffles look pretty - unfortunately I'm not really much of a breakfast food fan (1. I hate eggs and 2. A slice of toast or a piece of fruit does it for me) but I'm happy to live vicariously through those who enjoy it :goodvibes

Yum! Both of your breakfast options looked delicious! We stayed at the Yacht Club this past December but never got to CG...next time I am going to have to make sure to!
I wonder if it was the blend of coffee you didn't like? I know I find I do not care for Ethiopian blends...

OK, after those Captain's Grille pictures, I just made an ADR for my trip in March. I'll be at Beach Club Villas, so it will be waaaaaay convenient :)!

Ooh glad you liked Captain's Grille. My mom and I will be staying at Beach Club in April so had planned for breakfast there. On my list to have was the waffles.

As Mikka is still fighting with her 'puter, I'll reply.

Yes, they were pretty. The picture doesn't even do them justice. I love the presentation of food at restaurants, WDW wspecially. I bet they could make "SOS" look appetizing! (Mikka isn't a big breakfast fan either. She just humors me.)

:jumping1: My new BFF!

I hope you enjoy it! And a much easier commute then the 0630 MGM (DHS) bus from All Stars and a long walk first thing in the morning!

Ooh glad you liked Captain's Grille.

Yes, we've enjoyed meals there several times. Not a signature, but consistently good food.

Ack, so many posts! I guess I response to everyone, then try the food report tomorrow? Hm. Again, I'm sorry for all the delays.

I should note that I basically forced her in to eating this. She was all 'Ehh, sausage, eggs' and I was like "NO YOU ARE GETTING INTERESTING FOOD SO I CAN BLOG ABOUT IT." And so it goes. ;)

We do! We drive each other crazy sometimes, too, but it's all good.

Oh come on, you know full well how my internet is. :P

...And I prefer Arial Narrow. In teeny tiny font. So there!

Heh. My advice is don't strangle her when she starts being annoying and trying to embarrass you in public, as mother's are obsessed with doing that. :D ...Well, it's good advice! Don't do it!

No, in all seriousness, you'll probably have a blast. Hope you do! And thank you for reading that May trip!

As she said, I honestly can do without breakfast. I wake up around ten, and usually go straight to eating lunch food. I only eat breakfast when someone drags me out to eat, and then I usually look for the most non-breakfasty thing possible. I do like heavy foods, though; as soon as I wake up, I'm hungry!

It could have been the brand, although thinking, we'd had coffee at Captain's Grill before and liked it (though that was a long time ago, when Joffery's had just replaced Nescrap :P). I don't know. And I definitely recommend the Captain's Grill for breakfast, or lunch!

Agh, I want to stay there! They look so pretty... but yeah, eat! Enjoy! It's yummy, and a great stop that's hardly ever crowded!

They were definitely tasty! Enjoy them!

Okay, food reviews themselves coming... tomorrow morning, I hope!

Alright, it's not morning, but I had some computer operation happening today. Bad news: I need to replace my fans. Good news: fans are a lot cheaper then other things I could be replacing. ;)

As an apology, here's a quick but nice little food and wine stop atttt...

THE SUSTAINABLE CHEW

Aren't these just the cutest little plates? VerTerra Dinnerware, apparently. Very biodegradable, or something.

Despite hearing good stuff about the Chew-Tini, we never actually got it (which is a shame, as Meyer Lemon Vodka sounds quite nice to me). We did get these two bites, though.

The first is the pork spareribs (with red wine and fennel, according to the menu, though there were also an assortment of veggies) on top of cheesy mascarpone (apparently, the DISboard does not think that is a real word) grits. These were, in hesitation, tasty... but I speak with hesitation, as this ended up being one of the smallest dishes we tried. All that meat you see is on the bone, which meant there was a lot more bone then meat. This was one of the few portions that I think was very hard to share. The grits on the other hand were incredible- all cheesy yummy goodness.

The other dish is the Ricotta and Zucchini Ravioli, which was quite a big portion for its size, and filling. Amazing for a pasta dish at this festival, this was cooked rather well: not perfect, but there was no hit of rubber or floppy overcooked-ness. Much better then any dish I've ever had at the Italy booth. While the menu simply lists 'rustic tomato sauce', mom and I both found the sauce rather spicy to be eating with not having any water or other drink with us: if we had bought water, it would have been fine, but without it... well, the dish was a bit hot. Not in a bad way, but we weren't really expecting it. It was still very tasty; mom basically licked the plate for the sauce. This was a good one.

Wow, that was super short.

I'm hoping to get the culinary and beverage demonstration we did that day as well up tonight. Then tomorrow can be Tokyo Dining's pairing, which was awesome. <3 Hopefully the internet will keep cooperating...

Glad you've identified a solution for the computer issues you've been having :thumbsup2

That looks delicious. I love spicy foods so this looks right up my alley. I'm also a pasta fiend so small dishes like this are great otherwise I end up eating my body weight in it!

Yes, sadly, very little meat on those ribs. (I wonder if they have hidden cameras in the area so they can laugh at guests gnawing on those little rib-lets?) But the grits were good.

I have no recollection of licking. Scraping with my fork maybe, but not licking.

I could eat my weight in pasta too.

Oooh that breakfast looked good :)

It was good! But next time, I get the lobster!

Those grits look yummy! I would not be happy with the bone to meat ratio...
The Ravioli looked good too. Were the plates paper? Interesting

I'd like to say I'm fashionably late to your party, but at this point I'm just plain ole late ; ) But I'm here now and everything looks great so far. Can't wait to "eat" more

Welcome and no worries about tardiness. She's barely on day two. (BTW - I really enjoy your reviews!)
