Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Would asking to be near an elevator be a good choice for a room request if we book a standard room? Or what should I request?

He was a little nervous of the slide until I basically strong armed him into it the last day and then he had to do it non-stop. Our favorite moments all week were from the pool I think. Puddle jumpers were a must, so glad to have them. He actually was jumping in without them on which is beyond crazy for my cautious little kiddo. Amazing!! Truly!!
My DS kept trying and then chickening out on a big slide at Great Wolf Lodge until I got tired of it and literally SHOVED him down the slide. Oh the looks I got! Ha! But he loved it and kept going down over and over again. :)

The main bank of elevators off of the lobby (both at the BC and YC) appears to be 4 elevators. However, there are actually only 3 elevators, one elevator door is a fake. If you walk around the corner, this is where the telephones (with phone books) are located. Check it out, very cool.

Last year we booked a standard room and I requested high floor, close to lobby. We ended up getting upgraded to a garden view and had an excellent location down the hall from the main elevators.

I was able to 'reserve' 5 nights at the BC (std view) in June for $1,500, taxes inclusive. They also had the Poly (std view) for $1,700 for the same nights. As a comparison, right now I have a YC garden view reserved through Disney for those nights for $2,000.

Officially the bookings can't be made yet, but the prices are there. They took all of my info and the agent will make the booking later this week when it is bookable.

I have never used this agency before, but I can't complain about their service or the price. The only real negative is that it is considered a package (even though I am only booking a room) so payment must be made in full 45 days in advance, but that's a minor consideration for us.

I have a room booked for the Poly next August using the same agency. The price absolutely can't be beat. I suspect I will be cancelling the reservation, though, and hoping for a good deal the following April. Likely not staying at the Poly, either. While it will be perfect in terms of location, my favorite resorts are absolutely BC and AKL. My mom loves AKL. While BC would be ideal for Flower and Garden, the trip is really for my mom, so AKL it will be. I know the BC will be waiting for us for another trip.

If you haven't paid off your room balance before check in then your credit card will be charged before you check in. I've had my credit card charged when I was still at the airport.

Just a tip - go to the International Gateway to do your upgrade. Your DH can even enter the park and come right back out again to make it easy. Those lines never seem as long as the MK lines are. And if you are purchasing a Tables in Wonderland (TiW) card, then go to the booth on the left, the Guest Relations (or is it Guest Services). The ticket booth on the right can't issue the TiW card.

I second this recommendation. Upgrading our passes at the IG took five minutes, tops, with no line whatsoever.

We checked out of Yacht Club (Club Level Water View) yesterday and I wanted to give a little review and trip report about our experience.

To preface, let me say that we did not have an easy trip from Michigan to Florida. We flew Southwest and had a connection in St. Louis. Unfortunately at that connection another flight was diverted due to mechanical failure and that flight took our aircraft. This meant that we were delayed until a new aircraft could get to St. Louis. After a layover that was supposed to be ~ 2 hours turned into an over 5 hour layover, we were very ready to get to Disney. We missed all of our fast-passes that were scheduled for the day.

DME was quick and easy as usual getting us to Yacht Club after a couple of stops. We were taken right up to the Club Level floor to be checked in. We did receive our room number via text when we landed in Orlando. The check-in process was easy also and he checked to make sure all of our many magic-bands were still working. We let the concierge know about missing our fast-passes but he did not offer anything to help us out.

Next, we headed to our room. Upon arrival to our room the door did not open. No green light and not even a red light. So I trudged back down the long hallway (we requested to be close to the lounge because one member of our party uses a scooter, but our requested was not met) to the lounge area. A cast member accompanied me back to our room and got no light with her tools either so we determined that the battery must be dead. So she had to go back to the lounge and get a master key. After 10-15 minutes of waiting outside with our bags she finally came back to let us in. We enjoyed the view for a bit and settled in. Mom and I headed out to EPCOT for the evening since they had EMH while our eldest member rested and waited for engineering to fix the door battery.

Fast forward a few days and we were sick of the repetitive food choices in the lounge. They normally only changed one thing on the buffet everyday. Other than that one rotating option everything else was the same and not very good if you ask us.

It is clear that the rooms in Yacht Club are in need of the refurbishment that they have been scheduled for for awhile. While we were there, the closet door came off of its track and had to be fixed. Also, our refrigerator had no temperature dial and one day we came back to find our pop had frozen and exploded all over inside so we had to get a new fridge. By the time we left, the room was pretty much up to code because everything went wrong while we were there.

One day my mom and our eldest were resting in the room when all of the sudden the door opened and a bell-man with a couple were coming into our room. He was going to put them in an occupied room! And he did not knock at all. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN! WHAT IF WE WEREN'T THERE?!

We brought all of our concerns to the staffs attention and the Club Level cast members did not seem to care or offer any apologies or magic for our troubles. We will not be staying at Yacht Club again after our experience this trip. Too many things were not up to snuff and did not get resolved to our liking and the cast members did not seem to care. We will be completing the Disney Survey when it comes and will make our complaints known there too. Boardwalk is the place we will go if we stay Club Level again because the cast members are wonderful and we have always had great experiences there. No more Yacht Club for this bunch.

I'm sorry you had a less-than-great experience. We stayed CL at the YC last summer. It was okay. We've stayed CL at the Poly, WL, and AKL. AKL by far is the winner for us when it comes to the CL staff. I really think the CL staff make or break the experience for us.

I always bring a corkscrew in my checked luggage (along with a couple of bottles of wine!)...probably wouldn't make it through security with my carryon...but once my luggage got delayed, so I went down to the resort store and bought a bottle, and the cashier gave me a little corkscrew to open it with...

I bring one, too.

maryandtyson, I have to agree with the Territory Lounge. The flatbread I had there was was one of the best meals I had our whole trip.

Dee, thank you for the Ed Korgan recommendation. My husband thinks we should stick with Happy Limo because that's what we've always used. But until the day arrives that he calls to make the reservations, I'll handle the travel arrangements. And, let's face it, that day will never arrive.

I always do the same thing too. I have always kept it in my checked cosmetic case. But, I forgot to remove it when I put the case in my carryon last month and TSA confiscated it!! :( Thanks for the reminder that I need to get another one! :goodvibes

My family is so excited we just booked the BCV for Aug 6-15. Never stayed there been there before. We've visited the resort and always hoped someday we'd be ablet to stay and go in their pool!!!

We will do 2 days at the Dark Side before venturing over. CAN'T WAIT!!

Hi everyone,

We check in next Friday and as I was hauling out my luggage from the basement, I suddenly realized that I have not received any documentation whatsoever from Disney regarding our trip. I don't know if it's my TA who is to blame or does Disney not send out any luggage tags or booklets like they did in the past? I'm suddenly worried that I have nothing to show when I check in. I guess I could print off my MDE info so at least I have my reservation number?

Thanks for any advice!!!

Did you book a room only ressie? I never receive documents in the mail with a room only ressie - only packages that include hotel with park tickets.

Yes we did book the package with meal plan even. The only difference for this trip is that we didn't book ME. I tried to get in touch with my TA but she is away on holidays :(

Could you get in touch with another TA in the office? You definitely should have received a package in the mail. However, you will still be fine at check-in even without the package. We just gave our name. You just wouldn't get the coupons that come in the package (is. Mini golf, Disney Quest, arcade, etc...). Have fun!

That makes me feel better!! I know my son *needs* to be "shoved" into things to try it...and it was our last day...had to do it! I also had to drag him onto 7DMT -- good thing Disney loads so fast they didn't have time to notice his apprehension. Of course I dragged him off the ride crying too because he loved it. #being3 I'm sure we looked like awesome parents in line there...but seriously kid this was our FP time and it was finally a ride we could all do together!!

Thanks CJK. I've tried another TA in her office but she hasn't answered back yet. I will miss getting that little booklet and I'm definitely not impressed with this agent!!!!
Thanks again for your help!

Thank you! April 8-11, 2016

Got it!

We stayed at BCV last October and will be there again in a couple weeks! With the various refurbishments/updates to the BC rooms I've read about happening, I was curious if the BC lobby itself has been updated since last October?

I believe the lobby received an update - new upholstery and maybe some furniture- before the BC renovations started in October. So I don't think there have been any lobby refurbishments since then and to the best of my knowledge, none are planned.

::yes::

Heading to YC for the first time December 2-9! Grew up going to BC almost every December, and three years ago (my now!) DH and I got engaged that trip! Too excited for words, thanks for all the tips! :ccat:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Please let us know if you have any questions about the resort, but sounds like at least the Beach Club is just like home!

:cool1:

Please add us to the guest list! We added a couple of extra nights at the end of our GF stay, so we'll be at the BC 12/24-12/26 :santa::santa::santa:

:welcome: back!

Will do!

:woohoo:

Coming down from my YC high of last week, had a great stay as always so here is a mini-trip report.

Arrived 9/28 at ASSp for one night since I drove down and it didn't make sense to spend $ for that short of time at YC. Checked out at 7 am on 9/29 and over to YC and at checkin desk by about 7:30 am. They knew my room number but it wasn't ready yet, CM didn't give me the number but did show me the location on the map. I originally booked a standard view, somewhere in the 2 months after I booked it got upgraded to a garden view, at check in it got upgraded to a water view. It was room 2061, and my balcony had a beautiful view of the BW, king bed with the little mini-kitchenette area with a sink. I have pictures on my phone but have no idea how to get them posted so if our dear mod will give me an email address I can email them.

Thank you so much for the detailed review! I would love to add a link to your comments along with all of the reviews I have promised (to eventually) add to the Trip Report/Review post.

You can send pictures to beachclubdee at yahoo

Which reminds me... I haven't checked that account in a while, so I'll do that when I am done here!

:rotfl:

Now I'm sure this has been asked a billion and 1 times but I am having trouble finding it through the 282 pages of posts haha :badpc:

I put in a room request for a large balcony on our reservation & also through the online check in. I know they are only requests and nothings guaranteed but what do guys think is the chance of me having my request fulfilled? If you have any past experiences I would love to hear them :) thank you!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for October.

:goodvibes

When you arrive at the resort to check-in, ask at the front desk (even if you are given the direct to room option) whether the room assigned to you has a full balcony. If not, ask if there is a room available that has one. If there is not one available that day, there may be a room opening up the following day so if you are willing to switch rooms, let them know.

:thumbsup2

We have been back for a few weeks now -- the trip went so fast and things were hectic when we got back settling into the school year and catching up on what we missed. However I've been meaning to come back and chime in about what a wonderful trip we had and how much we LOVED the beach club. What an amazing place. Three specific comments about the BC part of our trip:

Thanks for the details about your trip. You may have heard, SOMEDAY I plan to add recent reviews to the Trip Report post. May I include yours?

::yes::

Would asking to be near an elevator be a good choice for a room request if we book a standard room? Or what should I request?

Sure.

Is there anything else you care about- full balcony, daybed, upper or lower floor?

Also, yes, there are stairs you can use to get to the rooms. I may be wrong but I seem to recall that some of the stairs only went to the 2nd floor and then I had to find another set to take me to the 3rd or 4th floor.

Are you staying onsite at the Dark Side? We have had one stay at the Portofino and 3 at the Hard Rock.

Did you get Magic Bands or are you from overseas and need to pick them up when you check in?

I hope someone gets back to you to let you know what is going on.

Let us know if you can!

Unfortunately, we have decided to stay at the Polynesian next April, because the YC will not be refurb'd or hopefully will be starting soon. Our next trip will be the YC! We love it there but will be going for some Beaches 'n' Cream on an Epcot day. I'm going to miss it, but since we have an opportunity to stay at Poly with a "magical" deal. I'm pretty excited seeing that people who love the Y&BC, love the Poly too. It makes me not so nervous to stay at another resort.

I had to drag my just-turned-4-year-old on to 7DMT in May. He was hysterical, despite the fast that he had ridden it several times last October (and loved it!). I'm surprised the CM actually let us put him on with the way he was carrying on!! But sorry, buddy, it was fast pass time - we'll deal with the emotional scars later :)

I'm missing the fabulous Beach Club scent! Has anyone ordered Beach Club candles from an Etsy seller? Wondering how they are. I think there is a Bath and Body Works candle too. Which one?
