Updated Resort Availability Tool

I think I've got the hang of searching for what I want....but as far as BOOKING split stays, is there a way to quickly book the partial? When I open a calendar that show the partial availability you can't click on the available days to book right there. It seems you have to click "change search" next to the open calendar and change the dates to whatever the available dates are, then it gives you the "book" button.

Had been checking regularly but busy at work and home so not on for a few days, surprised to see the change. Not a fan of it, not as usable as it was for me before. I gave it a chance and played around with it, but to me you can't remove useful functionality and expect people will like it. I would go back to the old tool in a heartbeat if I could.

CRAP tip:

In addition to filtering Location > WDW, Destination Type > DVC, you can restrict results by Vacation Points range, which will filter the results to the room type you want :thumbsup2

I have done a number of test runs in the last few days on CRAP with comparison to actual availability on the reservation section for rooms at 7 months out and times less than 7 months out. Be aware that I am getting a disgraceful error rate, about 30%, and unlike with the old tool it is not just Poly. In addition to Poly, I have seen CRAP as showing availability when there is none for rooms such as AKV value, BWV standard view, BLT standard view, and VGF studios.

The new tool is horrible.

I just searched for the dates we will be in WDW 1/7-1/12. Poly showed as available... had to go through 3 more web pages to find out there is no availability at all including bungalows. This tool is just that, a 'tool'.
That is frustrating!!!

You will have to expand each resort you're interested in, but you don't have to do multiple searches or go to multiple pages.

To make this easy, first, select that you want to see resorts in Florida. This will narrow things down to 25 properties:

Next, select that you just want DVC resorts. This will give you just the 10 on-site DVC resorts:

Then, select your dates. If you increase the number of people to 6, you'll only get results for two-bedrooms and larger. Increase it to 11 for just grand villas. Decrease the point range and you should be able to narrow it down to studios, but that's not an exact science.

Finally, click on the Availability link for each property you want to view. Click on the "Partial," "No Availability," or "All Nights" link to see the calendar. You can open multiple resorts and multiple calendars.

Thanks for the info I will have to try it.

For a 1 night stay, the total mentioned was for 2 nights. This happened to me repeatedly. I was just looking, not booking.

I'm not a big fan of the new site...but, to be honest, sometimes I think I'm just getting old, and hate change, lol! With our big family, i need 2 bedroom only and unless I input everyone's age and members of party, I can't just see what two bedrooms are available. There are more steps to check some availability than before.

Just select six adults and only two bedrooms and grand villas will be displayed.

That error rate is just flat unacceptable, how can you be in the business of reserving rooms and not get this right.

I dislike the new CRAP tool intensely. I need the option to select room type -- I don't want to select by point range.
Selecting by point range could be useful, so maybe nice to have. I also want to select specific resorts. If I'm planning
for F&W, I want to see what's available at BCV or BWV. I want to drill down quickly.

But something about what the page is called made me ponder..
I am hopeful they just screwed up their website links. If you notice at the top of CRAP page, it says
Home->Destinations

I went to main DVC menu and if you select
Find Destinations -> View List of All Destinations

You end up at the same page as the new CRAP tool!

You'll also notice your URL is the same for both pages:
https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/destinations/list/

There may be hope yet. I sent a note to MS.

The new tool was very glitchy today...booked what I needed for before my cruise without issue, but when I went to add an extra day to an existing reservation at BCV (said it was available ALL afternoon,), when I hit BOOK, it took me to another screen (the OLD one) only to find it was NOT available. Even tried to add the night by calling MS (15 min wait) to no avail. But MS saw the same thing I was seeing. BTW, it still shows availability for the night I need! It's got to be a glitch and not lag time between the 2 programs. Never had this issue before with the old system. There are good parts of the new system, but if it only takes you to the old system anyway, what's the point?

I dislike this new tool compared to the old, but I do give it credit for being better on my phone. It's just about as usable on my phone as it is on my computer which is much better than my phone used to be and much worse than my computer used to be. I'd rather have a more usable computer experience, but I do think with a few tweaks that this new tool could work out...really needs accuracy improvement.

Why would you assume that the link is the same is a mistake? Seems like it is by design -- shows minimum points per night with links to description by default, but if you search for dates it also shows availability but still has the points per night and links to descriptions.

Thanks for posting this. I didn't notice the "Availability button at first and went about things the long way. I was able to get my research done using your instructions.

One thing that I do wish that it did was group the rooms like the old tool. i.e. Available, Partial and Not Available. they are all jumbled up now and I have to really look through things to get the data that I want.

It sounds like there was no improvement on the Poly's data with the new version of the RAT, and it is an inaccurate as ever.

Tonight the tool is acting much like the WDW hotel side and doesn't have the calendars and just says nothing available for any Oct dates. I double checked on the booking tool and found some availability so went back to try again and it won't show anything for DVC resorts. If I select only Nov dates then it looks like it has since they made this awful change. CRAP it definitely seems to be.
