upgrading a non expiry ticket

Hi

Has anyone managed to upgrade a unused non expiry ticket.

I've asked before but nobody seemed to know.

I really want to change it for an annual pass.

You should be able to upgrade it to an AP, but not add "days" to it.
(As this would be adding "non-expiring days" and they don't sell those anymore.)

Exactly how much you will need to pay is kind of an unknown.
In the past, if you used the ticket one time, then upgraded, you could get charged the difference between
the CURRENT price of your ticket and the cost of a new AP.

Without having a "current" price, it's possible that you will be charged the difference
between what you originally paid for your ticket and the cost of a new AP.

Thanks. I'm hoping they can give me a credit for what I paid towards the cost of an AP. They Must have some sort of price in their system for it right?

If you bought it from Disney, they will know exactly what you paid for it, yes.

If you bought it from another source, (like undercovertourist) they won't know what you paid for it.

Yeah it was undercover. Just wondering how they would do it. They Must have some sort of value for in in their system. Don't mind if I loose out a little on it.

They will know exactly what UT paid Disney for the tickets.
That will be less than you paid, of course.

Good luck, and please post back with what happens.

Well I suppose I will know the answer next month. Prob best I try to upgrade it before using it? Would it cause problems if I tried doing it inside the park? Rather than outside at guest relations.

I personally would use it once because that is your only chance they will price bridge.

you don't think using it once will cause problems with them getting a price of my ticket?

I can't imagine it causing any more problem than they will already have. It is really your only shot at getting full gate credit (which I realize doesn't exist anymore) for that ticket.

Thanks - I will use it first then.

I'm not quite comfortable with that idea, myself.
With the total uncertainty of CM training, and the uncertainty of upgrading a NE ticket...
It could be good to stop by a Guest Relations outside a park and ASK before going into the park.
If the CM indicates the (s)he would be able to price bridge if the ticket was used, use the ticket at the gate,
then come right back out to that same CM and do the upgrade.

OTOH, I'm also not so sure if upgrading is the best use of your current ticket, anyway.
I don't have all of the particulars to get a better handle on things.
You've not said how many days are on the NE ticket.
If you will make several trips to WDW over the years,
it might be wise to just keep the benefits of having a non-expiring ticket
and straight-purchase an AP for use this year.

I am going for 10 nights this year - November- and 10 nights or more sometime next year, I fooshly only bought the ticket to bridge to an annual pass in the first place. (Then disney axed it!)

The ticket is a 5 day 1 park per day ticket so I cant even hopp on it.

Everyone from Disney Tickets is tellng me I can upgrade it as the ticket is unused, but we all know what they are are like on the phone.

I will have to stop at Guest relations to pick up an AP for another member of our party so I think I will do what you say- ask, get a price then go straight back to upgrade, if I can, otherwise call to guest relations in the park.

Anyone know which park has the most clued up CM's?

By the way is "price bridge" a Disney word, would they know what I am on about if I said that term?

Urgh Why do I make things hard for myself- should never have bought the ticket!

Very dangerous to make a judgement based on past experience.
The CM staffers at locations can change by the day and the hour (reassignments, shift changes, breaks, and lunches.)

This info comes from literally years of keeping track of these kind of things from hundreds
of posts on this board.

Well one thing we probably do know is that without bridging Disney will give what UT paid which is around $50 or so less then what you paid so expect the value to be less than you thought.

I have consistently had the best luck with knowledgeable CM's at the back entrance to EPCOT. I have tried almost all of the guest service locations in the last couple of years trying to upgrade various tickets to hoppers at DVC annual passes.

Yes, Bridge is a Disney word.

I'd be wary of a CM that doesn't understand or want to perform bridging.

On the other hand, Bridging involves issuing an intermediate ticket (that intermediate ticket has the full, current face value). Disney would then upgrade that intermediate ticket to the AP

But, if they cannot issue a NE intermediate ticket there may be no bridging

I know years ago pre MYW they would give you a dollar credit towards the upgrade, maybe they will do that? I dont mind loosing out a little on the price I paid- I just want a AP!

Just wish there was some way to get a definitive answer
