Jedi Training Academy Closing Sept 12?

OK according to who? Many folks, including myself, have shot back at many of those complaints as well.

I don't think the general tone of the thread was "too bad, too sad". rather, I saw chicken little panic and a lot of misinformed folks speaking towards the future (or lack thereof) of the ride in absolutes. While it is a total shame the ride won't be open during your trip, it is important to note that it will re-open.

Whats silly is when I point out that there was all this misinformation and the response is, "oh yea, well it doesn't do ME any good". This board is about Disney in general. Not any one person's particular vacation =). (And no, I wasn't referring to you cath1979).
well... day like this.. I really hope to talk better in English (I speak french and maybe it's hard to understand pretty well was I try to said, And it definitely Hard for me to try to explain it as well as I could in french) I love Disney and everything about it, but like it was say before, this is a place to talk about news and ours opinions about the news.. I'M still gonna have a good trip with my two special needs kids..but well..with canadian $ going down and down, this trip is costing a lot more that the last one.. And that is ok it's life.. but it make me sad that the things I had plans for my sons birthday fall down (baymax and JTA). My son is a autism, and he has rigidity.. When I contact guest service to ask them, if there is a good chance it will be down because I need to prepare my son because of his diagnostic (two monts later, he was still crying over baymax) and they said dont worry, I should be open. I'M really glad to didn't listen to them and already told my son about that's closure.. I know they dont know way in advance the dates, but I would have appreciate to receive a, well there something goiong on, we dont know exactly when, but yess there is a good possibility that the show will be close.. I would have been happy about that.. Sure we have to close things to make it better, but maybe it's because I'm amother of a special kid, but knowing in advance make the trip a lot more easier for me

I get the disappointment of looking forward to very specific things. Luckily, WDW is chalk full of tons of stuff to do, and while two things they were quite excited about may not be there, I am positive they will find new things they never expected. By the time you guys are boarding a plane back to Canada, they won't care what they missed. They will be too busy talking about what they did.

My daughter has autism. I have not gotten her "psyched" up about any rides yet, because she will have a hard time dealing with the change as well. Its better to just go and let her experience things as they come that be building something up for a while and then have to change it.

with You tube (because I want prepare him for what are the attraction in head of time so that he will not have meltdown during the ride) and dvd planning and everything.. they see what Disney is offering, it was hard to tell him that it will not happen after seeing him for 2 years looking at youtube video about it and pratice his saber ability to be prepare to do it.. I understand that change is good, my only complain was that I wish that Disney would have been more open about that change and tell that is as a good chance to be close

How are in advance do you want them to announce things? Some people plan years ahead of time, do you really expect them to be able to know the dates that attractions are going to be redone 2 years ahead of time? Even if it was 6 months ahead of time, it sounds like this would not have helped with your situation.

I think that before 45 days mark is a good laps of time for a planified closure.. When we can change our trip without having fee... my trip is not next week, so I'ts not dramatic for me, but I'm putting myself in the shoes of the one going october 3 to what ever.. If this was my case, I would appreciate to know more then 2 weeks before my trip, when ADR change and FP change are very difficult to make.. If that was my case, I would have change my HS day to make it to JTA, but my point is for the people going during the week of the closure and that JTA was something important to them, all the planification as maybve to be change only to be able to do a special thing they want for their kids..Maybe i'm a control freack, Maybe I make to much planification.. but I think that 10 days a head of time is a really short period

The big thing is yes it would be great if Disney did that but there is fine print on every ticket and hotel reservation that events and attractions are subject to availability and may be down to weather, closure, or refurbishment with no notice.

I do understand the issue of having autistic children who won't get over this as easy as regular kids but sadly things happen and Disney is under no obligation to let us know. They did say at D23 that JTA was changing so many of us saw it coming just no one knew when. It is possible they tried to figure out how to do it with out cancelling the current JTA but then discovered logistics and cost of having 2 crews (one running the current event and one practicing the new event) was too costly. I believe JTA actors are Equity which means much more than minimum wage is on the table.

1. ADRs and FP+s: Most of the complaints I have seen on these are people that did not book them as soon as they could. Thats fine, that is your choice. But it is your choice, and you have to live with the consequences. So no, I generally don't think that is ok.

2. Availability of Free Dining: People complain about this? Haven't seen it, but I also don't think it is something people should complain about. Its a promo, if you don't get it, either pay for dining or don't go.

3. MNSSHP: I have no interest in this and so have never read the posts and don't know if the complaints are legit or not.
Free dining is a monster people would go nuts if they can't get it.

I haven't heard anything negative about the Halloween party other than maybe an increase in crowds.

I'm so disappointed that it's going to be closed because I'm taking my 6 yo cousin for his very first trip and he loves Star Wars. I never even imagined something like that would need to close for refurbishment so I foolishly showed it to him on YouTube. I think I'm much more disappointed than he is in reality. After all, he's still going to Disney World and what could be better than that? I don't think there's anything wrong with people expressing their frustrations though. Sometimes you just need to vent your disappointment, then move on and go pack your Mickey shirts.

People feel entitled to free dining. It's crazy. I was happy to get it, but I wouldn't be angry if I missed out.

The JTA in Hollywood Studios will have its last day of shows on Oct. 4. It will reopen later this year with an all new edition.

Is there any indication when in December this might reopen? I think it may be closer to the release date of the new movie on December 18th.

I feel like I've heard "early December" floating around, but don't quote me on that. I could see them wanting to reopen before the new movie to get people excited.

I thought I saw "Closed through 01Dec15" but...only reason that resonated with me was that my DS's bday is 30Nov15, which we picked as our DHS day...to do JTA...wompwomp
luckily he and our other 4 kids will <3 this trip regardless, my DH and I are 100% more bummed than they will be...they don't even know we're going :D

the complain is more about the fact that they give the information not far enough in advance.. Sure there something else to do, sure the rides can close for any reason any time, but when they know something gonna be close, they should tell people because was it not a big thing for someone can be a very big thing for another, let,s say JTA main reason I when to Disney, knowing that in advance, I would Schedule my plan during last week of september

And how far in advance should they offer notice? Some people book their vacations a full year or more in advance.

JTA can get cancelled just because of the weather. There is never a guarantee it will happen.

This comment is so not helpful. Luckily, Disney's Guest Relations is more understanding than you. When I emailed them to complain about the closure, at least the person I talked to was apologetic. Luckily, Guest Relations didn't just say "Too bad, so sad, you know nothing is guaranteed to be open."

It's not our job to make you feel better. People here are just passing on the facts as they understand them. I'm sure guest relations was very sympathetic, but guess what... it's still gonna be closed so that understanding is utterly meaningless and not actually helpful either. And actually, yes, Disney do say that nothing is guaranteed to be open. Read the small print some time.

Ya know, there is no need to be a jerk about things. Re-read the thread. I was the one who gave the correct information about the closing date and the fact that it was being reimagined and will be totally different when it reopens (i.e., not the JTA my kids have always participated in). This is a Disney FAN site and fans are allowed to be disappointed when Disney does crappy things like announce a closure with very little notice. Do platitudes from a Disney rep change the fact that the attraction will be closed on our trip? No. But it did make me feel better. Disney offering an apology was a small thing, but it made me feel better. I don't understand why people like you would have to come along and cut it down, especially since you're such a Disney apologist who can't seem to find any fault with the way they operate their parks or treat their customers.

I'm done with this thread now.
