Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Hi, I just rented a DVC studio (standard view) at Poly for the last three nights of my trip. :cool1: SOOOO EXCITED!
Love the Poly! Can't wait for my kids to see it!
I was wondering if anyone can suggest what building/location to ask for. Also was wondering when I could make that request since I could not do this with the DVC owner.
Can I ask when I check in?
Thanks
I would request the owner to add your requests to the reservation now, long before check in. As others have mentioned, Morea is closest longhouse to TTC. Tokeleau is closest to GCH if that is more important to you. Some have mentioned in PagoPago as getting view of parking lot. ENJOY!:cheer2:

Had a studio in August, as a cash reservation. Stayed in Moorea, GV is SV now. Lovely building. It also housed the DVC laundry facilities, of which were free (even for a non-DVC members!) The others are Tokelau and Pago Pago. I'd request Moorea as you can't get a bad view! Since one side is lake view and the rest of the SV rooms face the gardens. Pago Pago rooms are all SV, with garden facing or parking lot. Tokelau, you run the risk of facing the pool construction, if it's still going on. SV is SV anywhere. The deluxe is the studio name itself, nothing different from other SVs. Enjoy your trip and the studio!! See below.

We had dinner a few times at the Polynesian on our last stay, but we didn't walk around the grounds too much. I was thinking of requesting Tokeleau because of it's closeness to the pool and GCH (we'll be at the pool A LOT). Is the difference in walk from Moorea much?

All the construction is killing me for our April trip. It seems a lot of projects are finishing just before or after… Oasis pool, Rivers of Light, Frozen ride, Soarin' and BTMRR shutdowns, and whatever is going to happen at DHS.

If I request Moorea will I be looking at pool construction? It's my preferred location anyway, but I'd like to do anything I can to have a decent view (or at least not a mud pit/parking lot!)

Refer to resort map, Moorea doesn't face East Pool. It's either facing lagoon or garden view.

Thanks for your help! I just asked the owner to put in a request for Tokelau top floor. I want to be closer to GCH and, from looking on the map, I see it is centrally located. I read tikiman pages too and they recommend Tokelau saying that there are no bad views. Anyway, putting in a request seems to be just that: a request so I might end up in Pago Pago anyway with a view of the parking lot, who knows. :confused3
But hey, I am just happy that I get to go to The Poly, any room will do! :jumping1:

Uh...Less than 1 minute, if that makes a difference ;)

Moorea is your best best. Can't get a bad view there.

What the heck???? Who renamed all the FAQ threads to "Social Clubs"?????? People work so hard to accumulate all the resort info for the FAQ and the discussions are about the resorts. They are not "social clubs".:confused3:headache:

Wow! Guess you were heard!

In the process of booking our "magical trip" at the Poly for next August. So excited to already have another trip in the works before we even head off on our trip this fall. It always helps the Disney blues to know you have another trip to look forward to and plan. Looking forward to going back through this thread and learning all about the Poly! :) Aside from this thread and the tikiman pages, are there any other resources I should check out?

Apologies if someone already asked this or I missed it, but are king beds available in all the buildings or just some of them?

A friend of mine stayed in Moorea over Labor Day weekend and she could see wishes from her patio. She said the view was amazing.

Ok now I'm considering changing my request to moorea. :ssst: Do you think the pool renovation will be done in March? I don't want a view of a mud pit if I choose Tokelau!?

I'm betting on April for the pool to be reopened, but I don't think anyone knows for sure at this point. At least not anyone who will talk.... Tokelau is great, but I agree that Moorea is a safer bet if you really don't want to see construction.

No one really knows. I doubt it will be done. But, I don't think it will be a mud pit at this time. I'd guess it would be in the stage when they are landscaping and doing the finishing touches.

Oh ok, well I'll just wait and see. Thanks!

I've been debating making a room request.....never made one before anywhere, just took what we got. Pretty much all our deluxe stays have been on rented points and I never wanted to bother asking the owner to put in a request for us, but think I may request Moorea for our January trip. Sounds like the best choice! Don't really care about distance to GCH or pools; care more about a nice view but it's not that important.
How close to the TTC is Moorea?
