Is anyone in here a SparkleSkirt expert? I need some advice about the skirt I recently got. I'm not sure if it's too big or not... trying to decide if I should return it. I got the HikerChic style because I am tall (6'0") so I thought that I should get that one so I'm not flashing my butt everywhere. I feel like I had to pull it WAY high though to get the shorts sit where they should be. Like the top of the waistband was well above my bellybutton/small of my back. Do they normally sit so high or do I just have fit issues with the one I bought? I was hoping for the shorts to be more compression like, too, but they don't seem to be that strong.
I guess I'm having a little bit of buyers regret about getting the longer style now, there seems like so much fabric swinging around, and I cannot exchange it because the one I bought was a new release (Namaste) that is completely sold out in all but XS. Maybe I'm just not used to wearing a skirt, though. I have not worn a skirt in probably 25 years.
I'm not really an expert, since I only own 3 SparkleSkirts, but I did just run a half in one, so here goes. I find that the skirts do sit somewhat high on my waist, but I wouldn't say it's any more than, say, my Old Navy capris. I do find that when I first put on the skirts, the shorts feel like they need to be pulled way up, but I try to resist that urge. After walking around a bit, I find that they settle into the right place. The shorts fabric, I'm not sure which skirt you got, but I know they recently changed the compression fabric for the shorts, so newer skirt designs will have the new fabric. Others have said that it seems slightly less compressive than the old fabric. Even with the older fabric, it's not super compressive the way some other compression pants I have are. Mostly just enough to keep the shorts from riding up as you run. All that said, it's entirely possible the skirt you bought is too big for you. I think they do tend to run on the large side. From what I understand, the tell-tale sign that the skirt is too big for you is that the shorts will start riding up when you run. If they do that, you need to size down. If you are tight in the waistband but the shorts are too big, SparkleSkirts will do what they call a "nip-tuck" to size the shorts down a bit for a small extra fee.
