~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

Congratulations to Allison -- and I'm so sorry you've been having technical issues...those are just awful.

Thanks for the recipe for the haggerty potatoes -- oh my goodness, those sound SO good! I'll definitely be trying that recipe this week!

Congratulations to Alli :drive:

It was very nice having a sleep in day yesterday. But today it was back to normal and up at 7.30am. We came to Bismark way to early. So we decided to continue driving to Moorhead, MN where we are spending the night. Tomorrow we are visiting Heritage Hjemkost Interpretive Center. Which I think will be fun since we are from Norway (Hjemkomst means Homecoming by the way). Since it's Sunday the center doesn't open until noon. So we will get a late start from Moorhead to Minneapolis.
I can't believe I'm so close to you now. I can't wait to meet you.

They say it's your party nah nah! Way to go Alli!!! I literally got my license and then ran a stop sign in a mall parking lot with my dad who freaked and I don't think I drove again for 6 months. LolI am up and ready to shop away although I'm secretly saving for the outlet mall. This impromptu trip is more about the kids. Glad to see you got your computer issues fixed! Yeah for quiet dinners aloneGood luck working out and enjoy your weekend!!!

Yah - I am pretty proud of her, she did good. ::yes::

Oh no!!!! LOL I shouldn't laugh, but I could see myself doing that.

Thanks! Most of them are fixed... Josh is in the process of rebuilding our computer (it's what he does for a living at the hospital)... so right now we have 2 computers in one... Kind of confusing... But we have our old computer - with all of the issues, and we have our new computer - with not all of our programs transferred. So, we deal with the issues or we deal with the lack of programs. LOL Thankfully - we have all of our personal files on a separate hard drive - so those can be accessed from either computer... It's kind of confusing, but we are slowly getting there. Sadly - a person just can't switch from one computer to the other... It's a hardware thing, where cables and such need to be swapped around.

Working is going well this weekend. :) Making progress. ::yes::

Congrats to Alli!!!

I'll keep good thoughts for tomorrow morning's run.

Thanks! She is pretty excited to be able to drive.

Thanks - I am pretty nervous about it. I had my usual cup of coffee this morning - and I had a glass of water in the middle of it. Then I am going to have a piece of PB toast before I leave, and I am bringing 2 boiled eggs, a Larabar and water for after. Hoping it was a fluke thing and all is well.

Yeah, so I go MIA for a few months and you're up to 52 pages? Figures. I won't lie, I'm lost. I'm behind. I have no clue what's going on. But I'm here NOW and that's what matters, right? As I mentioned in Mo's PTR, I won't even close this browser, so I'll have a constant reminder to check daily! I'VE MISSED YOU!!!!!!!!!!! How are you? You look AMAZING, by the way. How are the girls? How are the guys? How is the DH? How are the furbabies? Has school started yet? Miss you guys so very much! The kids keep asking when we're going to get to see you and the girls again. Anyway, know I'm back, behind, lost, confused, but ready to move forward!

LIDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so happy to see you here yesterday!!! You have no idea! I've missed you so much! So happy to have you back!

Your trip is almost here!!! I can't believe it! I bet all of you are so excited!

The girls are doing well! The guys are doing well... Everyone is great! The girls are gearing up for their Senior/Junior years - respectively... Allison has a significant guy in her life - who we've managed to somewhat adopt. Puppies and MM's all over the place... Life is good. :)

Thank you - I feel really good. Most of the time... I've been having some dizziness issues lately... trying to pinpoint those. I've been to the Dr. and they seemed concerned at first and since my blood work is perfect - they seem very non-concerned now. Which makes me a little nervous. My last dizzy episode was last week Sunday right after my run... So I am a little nervous to go out for my run today... Fingers crossed that it was just a fluke thing - because last Sunday's episode really scared me.

Otherwise - just jump in here... I've kept my first few posts on the first page up to date, so as long as you read there - you're caught up, aside from all the chatter, and well - you can skip over that. :thumbsup2

Welcome back, to one of my very first Dis friends...  I've missed you so much!

Congrats to your new driver. And her short hair. I forgot she had it cut.
That potato recipe looks really good except for the onion part. I don't do onions.
Have fun with your international Dismeet on Tuesday.
I've been trying to do the stamina building for next month, but I really want to get back to my jump rope. I'm terrible, but it's just so much fun. I haven't made time for it the past week. And it makes a good companion to the heavy bag.
We got our magic bands this week, along with some ant stowaways. I think they were trying to get away from all the rain. (Cale and I exterminated as many as we could, so hopefully no eco-blowbacks to weird ants in our backyard)

God luck to all!

LOL yes - it's a little scary to have her driving - but she is a good driver, most of the time.

Yes, she got it cut shorter a while ago... but then she actually got it cut again the morning of her drivers test - so it's even shorter now. It's really cute though and I like it.

Thanks! I am super excited to meet Lillian!

Yay for stamina building! that's awesome! I didn't realize you jumped rope - how FUN!!!! You do some awesome and unique work outs! :woohoo:

Yay!!!! Love Magic Band delivery days! Those are the best! Your trip is coming so fast!

Thanks for stopping by - glad to hear you are doing well!

Congratulations to Allison -- and I'm so sorry you've been having technical issues...those are just awful.

Thanks for the recipe for the haggerty potatoes -- oh my goodness, those sound SO good! I'll definitely be trying that recipe this week!

Thanks!

Yes, Techie issues are a pain... but we managed to get through them OK.

Enjoy them! They are our favorite... Since we always seem to have the ingredients on hand... I've subbed regular onions for the green onions if I have to - it's not horrible that way, just not the same though. ::yes::

Congratulations to Alli :drive:

I can't believe I'm so close to you now. I can't wait to meet you.

Have a safe trip! When you are driving down and go past the "Ashby" exit on I94- that's where our lake house is... So we do that same drive you are doing a lot... It's a long one... Then when you go through Sauk Centre (that's where Josh and I were married)... then the whole corridor through Melrose, Freeport, Albany, Avon... I grew up in that area. You'll pass the Cold Spring/St. Joseph exit - that's where my Dad lives. So, you'll be driving right through where I grew up... and where my family is. If you are interested. LOL

Have fun at the Heritage Hjemkost... That will be so fun for you to do here!

You are getting very close to me - it's been so much fun tracking your progress and hearing about your trip! :thumbsup2

Safe travels to you the rest of the way. And looking forward to seeing you in a few days!

**********************************************************************************************

Yesterday... I worked all day. It was my day off from working out and other than actually working - I did nothing. It was nice.

Gus spent the morning here while Allison was at work, and he worked on an anniversary gift for her. Their one year anniversary is on Tuesday, but they celebrated yesterday because he had to drive home last night. Anyways... He made a giant movie poster for her - it was so cute! Of course - she loved it! And he was so proud of himself.

Otherwise - it was a pretty boring day.

Today... I am taking Allison to work, because I need my car to get groceries today... I am also going running after I drop her off. I am going prepared with PB toast before I leave... and I'll have 2 boiled eggs and a Larabar to eat after - with water, of course. Hopefully there is no dizziness today.

I hope you all have a great rest of your weekend! Prayers and good thoughts to you all. :grouphug:

I've missed you and missed being here! I'm glad I'm back, too! :goodvibes

Yes, we're at 31 one days!!!! :scared1: So much to do and we're running out of time! :lmao:

Dizziness? Again? Didn't you have this issue before? :confused3 How's your blood pressure? How's your heart rate? When I was in OT for my arm, I passed out one day. They had me running an obstacle course. My heart rate was too high and the blood got backed up and the lights went out. Maybe it's something you want to watch out for? I dunno, I'm not an expert or anything. I just know I get dizzy if I exert myself with my cardiology issues. I'm in no way saying it's the same thing. Just trying to offer an angle. :thumbsup2 Anyway, stay safe and if you continue to have issues, don't run alone, or cut back or watch for signs, or whatever you need to do to stay safe and in control.

I'll go back and read the first page. :thumbsup2 I skimmed it looking for chapter links, but didn't see any and just kind of skimmed around for a minute and gave up. I'm tired and cranky and lack motivation. :lmao: I figured jumping in was better than standing around with my back turned. :goodvibes

I've missed you so very much my favorite D! I can't wait to hear more! And let's chat one day!:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

Duh, I am so forgetful. I wanted to chat about your post, too! :sad2:

I absolutely LOVE the poster Gus made for A!:love::love::love: What a WONDERFUL gift!!!! It's a stunning pic of them. One year? WOW! Has it really been that long? That's amazing! They seem super happy and I love that. :cloud9:

Anyway, stay safe on your run and I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed day!

How fun to hear where you have your lake house, where you got married, where you grew up and where your dad lives now. Now I know what you are talking about when you say you are driving to your dad :)

We arrived at Bloomington at 7pm today. We went to the hotel where I had booked a stay from the 1st September and asked if they had a room for us from tonight to the 1st September. They did have a room for us. And they managed to make a new reservation and link it to our existing booking so we don't have to change room and we don't have to check out and check back in again on Tuesday.

Tomorrow we will go to Duluth.

Is the shop Great American Cookies any good?

Yes, Gus is still here and a fixture... I suspect he will be around for a good while yet. :)

No... I've never had any dizziness issues. I've had chest pain for a while now - like years - it was one of my HUGE motivators to lose weight and get healthy in 2012. It had gone away for a long time - No issues at all with it for most of 2013, all of 2014 and most of 2015 - then right around Christmas time last year - it came back. My Dr. did some testing when I had my annual exam (though no heart testing) and she flat-out told me that I am in such good health in every aspect of the word, she wasn't concerned that I had any heart issues at all, so I was diagnosed with "chest wall pain". For the record, my chest pain does not happen when I am doing any activity at all or after - it only happens when I am in a resting state. So, then a few weeks ago - I had my first dizzy episode and last week my second... It is very likely that the two are not related at all I was really nervous about yesterday's run, because my most concerning dizzy episode took place last week after my long run - and it lasted all day long... which prompted another trip to the Dr - where they did a TON of blood work, and again, determined I am in perfect health. Left me with instructions to monitor my food/activity and if it happens again - to go in immediately. I had NO issues at all yesterday, so I am starting to suspect that it could have been a hydration issue both times? So, I've been very careful about hydrating.

I do run alone - I prefer it, but I do run on trails that are busy, and not secluded. I also ordered a "Road ID" bracelet last week - https://www.roadid.com/p/the-Wrist-ID-Sport - it's not here yet, but it's on the way... It's similar to a medical ID bracelet... It has my name, year of my birth, contact info for Josh and BFF and my allergies... So, if anything happens while I am out running - I can be identified and given medical care. I am anxious to get it, because I will feel a little bit better about running alone then. ::yes::

Sorry - no chapter links this time... I just updated info in those first few posts... It seemed easier - since I am doing 3 PTRs in one. LOL

Yes, let's chat soon! I've truly missed you LIddy! :lovestruc

Hahaha...

Yes - can you believe that? We were all just talking about this the other day... How we were all amazed that they have stayed together for so long... LOL I could say lots about this, but he is just a GOOD kid, who has overcome a lot and become a responsible and caring adult - I am very proud of him. Much of his life/childhood is on a parallel line with mine or other significant people in Allison's life, so I feel like there is a true connection there - beyond what anyone would expect at their age. If they stay together, then fabulous, if not - that's OK too... But they have such a unique relationship, I'd find it hard to believe if their relationship ended any time soon. They just compliment each other so well. ::yes:: And, besides, I've pretty much adopted him. :thumbsup2

Thanks Liddy! :lovestruc

I hope your running to day goes well and that you don't get dizzy.

Eeeep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe you are so close to me right this moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have fun in Duluth for me!!! It's a fun city.... Oh did I mention it's on a HILL? A giant HILL? Make sure you see the lift bridge and go down by Lake Superior.... Lots of museums down there and it's just such an interesting city. If you get the chance/have the time to see Glensheen Mansion and do the tour - do that... I haven't been there since I was in my 20s... but it's a fun tour and a beautiful home.

Drive safely today! And enjoy MN. ::yes::

*******************************************************************************************

I had a really great day yesterday...

I was a bit nervous about my run... but I carefully hydrated before I left, and I was careful to eat something that would fuel my run properly. I feel a little dumb saying that, because my runs are NOT long... but - after last week - I am just trying to cover all of my bases. Clearly something went wrong, and I don't want it to happen again.

My run was awesome! I love this trail... This is the second trail I did - and I like this one a lot better because it isn't so straight... there's curves, and hills - it follows the river... It's just so scenic and it's much more travelled. The first trail I did, I like too - but it's so straight, you can see for miles in front of you, and I just really don't want to look ahead and think to myself "geez... I still have to run ALL of that..." LOL

2015-08-30_11.36.49.jpg

After my run - I ate my mini-meal... drank all of my water... Then I went grocery shopping. No dizziness at all. Which was a relief - I was so nervous going out yesterday.

Then I went home, grabbed Victoria and we went out shopping for a little while... She needed a few more colored pencils for her drawings. We also had lunch and went to Kohl's.

When we were done there, we picked Allison up from work... These girls got along so well yesterday - I was wondering if there might have been some bribery involved? :scratchin It's suspicious, for sure. ::yes:: But they were so cute - walking to the car together - I had to take a picture. Shhhh...

20150830_153113.jpg

Then we came home... I told the family I didn't feel like doing anything, so they were on their own for dinner. I tried to nap in my recliner, but I couldn't fall to sleep.

Josh took me out for ice cream before bed... That's always fun. Totally defeated the purpose of my run - but oh well.

Today... I'll be working out this morning...

Then I'll be working all day. I have a lot I need to get done this week, and since I don't work at Target, hopefully I'll be able to accomplish everything with that extra day.

I hope you all had a nice weekend. Prayers and Pixie Dust to all! :grouphug:

Hi D~! Finally found some time to get back on the DIS. Don't know if it will last but I'm hoping to keep up now!

I have a Road ID, too. I got it many years ago. But now I just take my cell phone with me. I've taught DH how to track me with the Find My iPhone app. It makes him feel better knowing where I am, too.

I had my first dizzy episode and last week my second......

No dizziness at all. Which was a relief - I was so nervous going out yesterday.
I'm glad you were able to run without getting dizzy. I went through a short spell of dizzyness. I never did find out why it happened. And then it went away. I hope yours does, too.

Congrats to Ali getting her driver's license. Hopefully that will eventually meant less driving around for you.

It is nice when sisters can be buddies. My girls fought a lot when younger but now that they are all grown up, they are best friends. :)

I'm so glad everything went the right way before, during and after your run! :teeth:

Alli's movie poster anniversary gift is great - very creative and thoughtful!

Have a great day tomorrow :)

Hi D~! Finally found some time to get back on the DIS. Don't know if it will last but I'm hoping to keep up now!

Hi Ariana! I know - life is busy everywhere! Super excited to have you back, but at least I get to keep up with you on FB.

I have a Road ID, too. I got it many years ago. But now I just take my cell phone with me. I've taught DH how to track me with the Find My iPhone app. It makes him feel better knowing where I am, too.

That's good to know... Sadly - I don't have an Iphone, so it might be good for me to find out if there is an android version of that app. I am always careful to tell someone where I am going and how long I should be, and I always carry my phone. I am a little worried about the Road ID being "one more thing" to remember - but I guess I'll just add it to my running pile (which is growing) and put it on when I put everything else on. :)

Thank you - I hope so too. It's so scary, isn't it? It seems to me, that there is always a reason, hopefully it's a simple one and we never have any more issues with it.

Hahaha... I am not sure how good of buddies they are... I think it has more to do with Allison being able to take her places with out me, than anything. :scratchin Praying this is the start of a beautiful friendship for them. ::yes::

I'm so glad everything went the right way before, during and after your run!

Alli's movie poster anniversary gift is great - very creative and thoughtful!

Have a great day tomorrow

Thank you... I was so nervous about it - and I am so relieved that it went well. I've found a love for running, and I have no intentions of giving it up now. :thumbsup2

Yes, Gus did good with that.

Thanks! You too!!!!

*********************************************************************************

So, yesterday...

I couldn't do my Walk Away the Pounds DVD, because I have it stored on our computer, and because Josh is rebuilding - he didn't have the software on there to play movies on here yet... Sigh...

So, I went for a walk instead... It was a humid/foggy/rainy morning, but it was a nice walk.

20150831_090330.jpg

Then I worked in my sewing room for the rest of the day... I finished one bag and started this week's custom order. I am super happy/excited about the bag I finished... It's a new twist on an old theme.

After lunch, my girls left me... Ahhh... I was a slight wreck. Allison is a great driver, but - there's always that note of doom when all of your children are together... Kind of the "all your eggs in one basket" thing... I got it when my Dad and brother used to drive down too. But all was well, they had a wonderful time - so I am told - out shopping together all day long. They drove all over the south metro apparently... :scratchin As a mom of two girls who have NEVER gotten along... It warms my heart to see them enjoying spending time together... My wishful thinking is that V finally realizes this is her last year with Allison at home... but my common sense tells me that V is just excited that her and Allison can now go off on their own. I guess it doesn't matter to me how they find common ground - but it would have been nice if they would have found it earlier in life. ::yes:: Better late than never, I guess.

20150831_124850.jpg

We had pork chops and corn-on-the-cob for dinner last night... It was good.

After dinner... Allison had a photo shoot... and a nice fiasco to go with it... Some how her camera battery wasn't charged and she couldn't find her charger because she is painting her room - and has her stuff all over the house at the moment. We were 30 minutes from having to be at her photo shoot and still no charger... We ended up having to call the girl - tell her we were going to be late, we found the charger and we were able to get a little juice into the battery... It was a mess. I ended up driving, because I didn't want her racing to town because she was late. Needless to say - we got there with not much light left to the day, she took as many photos as she could, and Allison is taking her back out this morning. Lesson learned... Double check that your camera battery is charged AND that your camera isn't left turned on. ::yes::

Today... I will be heavy lifting right away this morning.

Then I will be working until lunch time.

After lunch, I have to run to the bank to get cash - then I have a hair appointment this afternoon... I cannot wait!!!! Even though I had my roots touched up last month - I don't think it held as well as it should have, so I am excited to have fresh hair again. ::yes::

Running...

First... I signed up for my first 5k... It takes place on September 13th... I am pretty excited about it. As of now, a fellow Diser is running with me - I cannot remember her username though, and I cannot find it... She doesn't post much anymore, but we are friends on FB. Oh well - I will update when I know. :) Just excited to have someone running with me. :thumbsup2 Now I need to sign up for the 8k in November. ::yes::

I received a box of running stuff I'd ordered in the mail yesterday... Ahhh... I love running clothes! :thumbsup2 I've been buying a few things here and there to gear up for winter running... base layers, other layers and wool socks... It's fun getting it all in the mail and even better that I've been able to find some great deals on last year's leftovers. :thumbsup2

*****************Disney update****************

Just a small one.... I get to go buy Gift Cards this week. :woohoo: These gift cards will pay off the trip with Suzi and Mo. What a relief to have that done! ::yes::

ETA: Today is Gus' first day of college... He was accepted for his major last spring at a good University... Please send some Pixie Dust his way today. :thumbsup2

So, that's all. I hope you all have an amazing day! Prayers and good thoughts to everyone! :grouphug:

Yes... It's exciting for her - and for all of us. Less driving for me. But so nerve wracking as well. ::yes::

Thanks - It sounds like he had a good first day - with exception to the parking ticket he got. :scratchin

I know - he did good with that. It's such a fun gift!

Thanks Lynee - you have a great day too! :thumbsup2

I had a great day yesterday...

I did my heavy lifting right away in the morning.... After taking last week off- it was good to be back at it.

Then I went right upstairs to work... I was able to get everything done that I needed to get done yesterday - which was such a relief! ::yes::

After - I ran to the post office, then to get my hair done... Ahhh... It feels so good to have new color. My next appointment isn't until the day before I leave for WDW - so it's getting super close!!! :woohoo:

Sadly I didn't get to enjoy my cute hair, because the moment I came home, I had to throw it up in a pony and headband to go out for a run... and it was so hot and icky out - I was a sweaty wet mess when I got home. ::yes:: But I did have a good run.

We had steaks for dinner last night - they were so yummy!

Then I sat up and waited for Allison to get home from work.

Today... Eeeep!!! I am so excited! :woohoo: I finally get to meet Lillian!

I plan to work out shortly here...

Then I will get ready - I need to be out the door by 8:30... I am stopping at BFF's house to pick her up, then we are headed to the MOA for the day to meet up with Lillian! I am so excited to meet her... I never thought I would - since she lives in Norway. So, I will have Dismeet pictures for you all tomorrow morning! Eeeep... So excited! :woohoo:

BFF has to be home by 2pm though, so we won't be able to spend the entire day with Lillian and I do have to work a little bit... but at least we get to meet and have some lunch. I am excited to hear about her trip so far too. :thumbsup2

After... I have to come back home and work. Sometimes it never ends - not that I am complaining... ::yes::

I hope you all have a fantastic day! Prayers and good thoughts go out to all of you! :grouphug:

Have fun at your Dis meet today. Sorry about the tech issues don't you just love computers? We got new computers at work but they didn't install the program for doing cell phone contracts. We called tech support. Now we just have to wait til they fix it.
I'm glad you're not having problems with dizziness after running. My daughter did the color run on Friday and had a great time. She walked it because she can walk faster than she can run. She was just happy to finish and not be last.
Have a great day.

Hope you had a fun Disney.

I used to keep my old expired license in my arm band as well as a credit card that I had 2 of so I always had id with me when I ran.

A lot of the running tracker programs let you share you location with friend. I think it might be part of the paid part of map my run and run keeper.

I had a great day today with you D~ and your BFF. After our great DIS meet, Ulf (Wolf) and I looked around at MOA. MOA is huge and we had some trouble navigating around at first. I managed to buy this years first Christmas gift. I bought a Rubik's cube looking like a brain at Marbles The Brain Store for my brother as a Christmas gift. He has the normal Rubik's Cube, but that's not a problem to solves since the solution can be found on the internet. Maybe he will have a harder time solving this new cube. We went window shopping (at least that's what we call it in Norway when you look in stores without buying anything) in many stores. I was hoping to find a Christmas gift for my youngest sister that likes Jack Skellington from a Nightmare before Christmas. But The Disney Store didn't have anything Jack Skellington. I'm guessing he can only be found around Christmas (I've always managed to find Jack Skellington at the Disney Store in London, UK in late November and December) and Christmas shopping hasn't started yet. So I will have to figure out something else to buy for her this year since I probably won't go to London this year because of this HUGE USA trip :D We headed back to our hotel at 4pm.

We didn't want to drive anywhere to get dinner because of Rush hour so we had dinner at the hotel.
Tomorrow we will continue our road trip and go to Madison, Wisconsin where my family and I lived for a year back in 1985/86. It's going to be an interesting going back there after all these years.

First... I signed up for my first 5k... It takes place on September 13th... I am pretty excited about it.

Yay! :cheer2: I think it helps so much when you have something specific that you're training for.

:thumbsup2

Awesome! Getting packages is so exciting. I just wish someone else would pay for them. :rotfl: I really like the stuff you picked out. Looking winter-ready!

I hope you had a great lunch today at your meet-up!
