We are going on our very first cruise EVER and we are SO excited that its a Disney Cruise! (It will be me, my DH and DS-8 years old.) My DS has been begging for this for years now and he has NO IDEA! We will be surprising him Christmas morning! :earboy2:

I really want to participate in the FE if anyone can tell me more about it! Also, we are traveling with 3 older adults and need some idea of what things they will be able to do on board!!!

This being our first cruise ever, any tips and suggestions are very welcome!

WHO ELSE IS WITH US??????

Ready to Set Sail!!! :mickeyjum:goofy::dumbo::donald::tigger:

Hello my name is Vanessa, this will also be our first cruise and we are all extremely excited. It will be my DH, DD-15, DD10, DS6 and myself. It is DD 15th birthday and asked for a trip instead of a 15th birthday party.

We would also like to participate in the FE with our fellow cruisers.

Hi Stephanie. I'm hoping to get more information from a friend who has already been on a Disney Cruise and participated in the FE. Maybe we can get more people to join us. I may not be able to see her or talk to her until we go back to school in August but I'll keep you posted.

That sounds awesome that you have someone to get tips from! Are you a teacher?? I am! I also joined a facebook group (they do FE groups, share GREAT info and pictures too) if you want me to share that with you!!! We are SO excited!

Yes I am! I'm a Kindergarten teacher. In August I'll be starting my 17th year. Taught 2nd grade before too. It's great that we both have something in common. As a matter a fact, my friend had mentioned the facebook group to me, but since I don't have a facebook account she was going to show me how to get on it. But if you're able to share and help me get on that be great. We are also very excited and can't wait to meet you all.

We just booked this cruise today! We are very excited. This will be our fourth Disney cruise, and our second on the Fantasy. We would love to be part of a fish extender exchange!

Thank you for the welcome!

I just reserved our spot in Category 4D. :)

We are super excited.

Very nice! We're in 8C, so same as you but without the balcony.

I actually booked all of our shore excursions the other day (except Castaway Cay... not sure we'll be booking anything there). Since there are 4 of us, these are all private excursions that are cheaper than booking 4 'adults' on DCL excursions.

Cozumel - 'jeep' tour, where we drive around the island (with guide) to visit the ruins, crocodile farm and turtle farm
Grand Cayman - private sailboat taking us to see the stingrays, starfish beach and snorkeling sites
Falmouth - tour to bobsled experience and Dunn's River Falls

For Castaway Cay, I think we'll just hang out on the beach and swim. My kids might go to the teen beach. Since we'll be snorkeling in Grand Cayman, I don't feel the need to do it at CC.

Great idea!

We have tried all types of categories: 11A (5509)- sideways cabin, 10B (7535) inside and then, 4A (8***) - 8th floor w/ balcony.

So, we are trying the 4D category.

We are going to start planning an booking our shore excursions.

Love the ideas!

Thanks!

This is only our 4th DCL cruise. On other cruise lines we always get a balcony, so on our first DCL cruise we had a verandah. We found that we didn't use it much, and it certainly cost a lot more. On our next cruise, it was just me and the kids booking last minute, so we got an inside guarantee (long before they started the IGT fares, but same idea). We got upgraded and ended up in an outside cabin. We really enjoyed it, especially with the large room and massive window. On our third cruise, we booked last minute OGT, but they didn't have any 4 person OGT fares, so we ended up booking 2 OGT cabins. We were given 2 outsides about 4 doors away from each other. Now on this cruise, we're booking early enough that we got to pick a cabin, so we went with the larger 'family size'. It will be new for us!

If you want ideas for shore activities, look at what DCL offers. You may not want to book through DCL, but they pretty much know what interests cruisers. pick and choose from amongst the activities, then contact a tour company and design your own private tour!

Hi all! This is only our second Disney Cruise. Last time we went my son wasn't even 2. Next year he'll be almost 7 and our daughter 4, so I'm interested in learning more about the Fish Extenders. How do you sign up, know who is involved, and approximately how many items will I need to buy? I think they will love it! TIA!

Welcome to the cruise! I'm sure your kids will have a wonderful time! There are so many fun things to do on a Disney Cruise. You can spend the winter making sure they're ready to swim on their own, so that they can fully enjoy the pool, Castaway Cay, etc. on the trip.

From what I can see, there is no exchange set up yet, but once we have a few more people (say, 5-7?) we can start a list. I generally see Fish Extender Exchanges cut off at 25-30 people.

Our last cruise, we have over 100 participants in FE. A wonderful disboarder organized it based on preference such as no more than 20; then, 21-50; then skies the limit.

We received amazing gifts. :)

I hope to have time to help out with roll-call or starting the FE list. I should know more after Labor Day weekend.

You had 100 participants all in the same FE? Wow! How long did you spend delivering the gifts?

I know there's so many fun things to do...that's why we're doing it again. ;) My kids are like fish. I'm sure they'll be excited to do lots of swimming.
25-30 is definitely very doable! I'll watch for a set-up. Would that be on this thread as well?
