After All This We are going To Need Some Magic **Sad Update 8/20**

I saw you comment on another thread, and realized we had our babies around the same time! I then clicked on this PTR.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Cancer sucks.

I look forward to following along and hearing about the trip that will be here before you know it! (Being a teacher, I can relate to being tied down to that calendar!)
:welcome: So glad to have you along!
Congratulations on the new baby!
I hate cancer so much! Its such a tragic disease.

Ugh I hate being tied to the school calendar! Oh well at least we get to go, right?

I am so sorry that you are at this point with your mom.

I like how your trip is shaping up. Your expectations are at an appropriate level and I like that you're making all those ADRs. I hope you got that Minnie Christmas Dinner ADR. I had not heard of it until you posted and it sounds perfect! :hyper:
I can not even begin to explain how very difficult this time has been, although at this point death feels like mercy for her, its been a very hard battle for her. Doesn't make it any easier to say good-bye:sad1:

In some ways, Disney is as much about the food for us as the rides and attractions. We enjoy the food, the character interaction. So, we plan for and budget to make the meals a big part of our trip. Oh the Minnie dinner, I will discuss that roller coaster in my next update! It was a trip!

Now for an actual real update from my computer with pictures and everything!:hyper:

As for the Minnie Holiday Dinner... I didn't even know it existed until after I made all my ADRs and I had my heart set on doing the Disney Jr meal at Hollywood and Vine for Charlotte. Then I started following a thread all about the Minnie dinner at H&V and I became crazy obsessed with getting it. I had originally made my Disney Jr meal a lunch ressie so I didn't want to do dinner at H&V too, because it was the same food. So, I decided to make the Disney Jr. as breakfast since the food is pretty much just basic breakfast and we thought it was pretty good last time, and do the Minnie dinner the same day. I decided doing this meal was going to become a "must do" for us. I followed the thread here on the Dis for about two weeks with the rumors about this meal and speculated ADR dates. Finally it was pretty much assumed this morning Aug 6 would be the first day for making reservations. I got up around 4:30 and Cecilia got up with me to eat. I got the computer ready and waited for 5 am our time to hit so I could try and get this reservation. 5am and nothing:confused: time kept ticking by and nothing:confused:. I have been having such a hard time sleeping and have been totally exhausted, so I thought I would just go back to sleep until 8am when I was supposed to get up anyway. Around 5:45 Bob's alarm went off and stopped me from falling asleep so I thought I would check the thread here, to see if anyone had any luck making the reservation. Sure enough it went live about 5:40!:scared1: I jumped on and had my pick of times on my desired date. I was even able to get the Fantasmic package! I am so excited! So we will join Minnie ::MinnieMo:santa:and her friends, Mickey Donald and Daisy in the holiday wear, along with Santa Goofy! Totally worth all the sweating it out for the ADR! I enjoyed the thrill of this chase so much, I have decided I am going to start following in hopes of getting an ADR at the new MK restaurant Skippers Cantina! I just don't know where it will fit in yet? :confused3

So, even during this difficult time, we have managed to do a few fun things I would like to report here. We went to the drive in and saw Inside Out for a second time. That movie is going to be a family favorite around here for sure! Bob and Charlotte loved it, every minute of it.

We also had a family movie night, although a very scaled down version! We hadn't seen Big Hero 6 yet, so we ordered take out and enjoyed the movie as a family. I did take a pic of the girls watching the movie:

It was mandatory (by Charlotte) we all wear jammies for the movie! Big Hero 6 will also be a family favorite we all enjoyed it!Bob usually doesn't love any kiddie movies, but Inside Out and Big Hero 6 he actually enjoyed them and said he would watch them on his own.

Bob's mom and I also took Charlotte to see Disney's version of Beauty and the Beast at the Muny. In St. Louis we have an amazing outdoor theater that brings Broadway style shows here locally in the summer. The shows are usually wonderful and a mixture of local and national talent. Beauty and the Beast was so awesome! If you have followed my other reports you know Charlotte's favorite movie has always been Beauty and the Beast, the Beast is her favorite character and Belle her favorite princess. So, it was a big deal for her to get to go to see this! Charlotte wore the Belle dress I made her last year. She really felt like a princess!

Maybe this isn't so princess like, but it was pretty hot and she was wearing a ball gown:rotfl2:

Enjoying the show with Grandma! It was a great night!

So, you may also know how much I love to sew. I joined this group that sells the most amazing knit fabrics. Using the fabric, I made the girls their first outfits for our trip:
image_zpsf2u00zwy.jpg

The smaller one is for Cecilia, and hers is showing what the back of the tunic looks likes. Charlotte's is showing the front. They will wear these to BoG. I was pretty pleased with how these turned out, they will be easy to layer to accommodate various temps. I am currently working on Doc outfits for our Disney Jr. breakfast.

Now that we have our ADRs nailed down, I am starting to plan our wardrobe. I have one meal I can not decide on an outfit for, 1900 Park Fare. We are going to have dinner there New Years Eve. Normally, we would do some sort of Cinderella outfit, however I also thought about doing matching family New Years shirts of some sort. Bob thinks New Years shirts, since who knows if you will ever be back in Disney on NYE, but I just can not decide. What do you all think?

Anyway, I'm going to leave it there for tonight!

Is that expected to be open that soon?

I say let the girls dress up princess like and you and your dh do the NYE thing.

You are so talented! I love the B+B outfits!

Great job getting the Minnie Dinner! I saw it all over FB yesterday and was wishing we were doing that elusive holiday visit!

So much goodness in one update!! Where to start?!?!

Oh yes....

DANCING BANANAS ALL AROUND!!
Squeeeee!!! So happy you got the Minnie Christmas ADR! And the Fantasmic package to boot!!! This is going to be a GREAT trip!!

You know my feeling on H&V....never expected to like the food and the general ADR, then BOOM! It was like my fave of the buffets! So I hope they're having a good day when you go, twice!! Sure it's not the best food, but with littles, let's face it, buffets are tops! Meeting all those character with no lines?!? Can't beat it! So I think you are VERY wise in planning so many ADRs and character meals, it's going to make the difference in you guys feeling frustrated and run down, I really believe it.

I picture this trip for you as a must-needed FUN time! No stress and a chance to escape your life for a few days and just soak up the magic.

B&tB looks so fun! Glad she's getting use outta that ball gown too! A real princess wears it even when it's hot, and even if she has to hike it up! :rotfl2:

Oh, my, SQUEEEEEEE!! Somebody fan me! Jackie is making Disney outfits again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously, like the best thing ever, is custom outfits in Disney, and I feel so honored to have worn a JackieMarie creation, myself. ::yes::

Love the outfits, the back is adorable and the girls are gonna be adorbs!!! I absolutely cannot wait to see what else you end up making!! Hmm... I do believe they sell teeny tiny shoes that I could paint, perhaps they need matching shoes... :scratchin

As for NYE, I side with Bob, matchy family NYE themed shirts, FOR SURE! He's absolutely on point, how often are you in Disney for a major holiday?! I'm thinking the word "Cheers" needs to be involved! I know you'll think of a fantastic idea! And the girls will stand out more, because like everyone wears the princess dresses to the meals!

Loved this post so much! Love seeing pictures and hearing all the goodness you are holding tight to, thanks for sharing it with us!

Yay, so glad you got the ADR! And it is fun chasing the elusive ones, isn't it? ::yes::

Love the Belle dress and your newly made outfits for the trip. You are so talented!

Hmmm, if I could figure out a good way, I'd do BOTH. Like Cinderella toasting the new year or something. :confused3

I'm back and guess what we even booked a trip! So of course I started a report ) I can't wait to get caught up on everything Ive missed! The pjs are adorable! I need to find someone to sew my daughter a dress, she's only 11 but very tall and the cute Disney stuff never fits here. I found a dress I want and my hope is I convince a good friend to make the dress! Beauty and the Beast was her favorite and I think we did it one year for Halloween. I need to go back through photos lol=) Cant wait to read on....

Somehow I keep losing your PTR! Sorry I've missed so much, but I'm back now! I love those cute little outfits for the girls and can't wait to see what you do next!

I'm so excited you're going to the Minnie dinner! Can't wait to see cute pics of that!

Congrats on scoring the Minnie Holiday dinner, it looks so awesome!

Awe, I love the picture of your girls enjoying movie night! Big Hero 6 is such a great movie, my DH isn't crazy about kiddie movies but he really enjoys Tangled, Wreck it Ralph and Big Hero 6. I think when Disney puts enough adult humor into their movies that goes over the kids' heads, that's what my DH likes.

Charlotte looks so beautiful in her Belle dress, incredible job on the dress BTW.

I love the outfits for your trip, super cute and I love how they will match! That fabric is really neat!

Thank you! Even Bob got a little excited when I got the Minnie dinner, which is big because even though he loves Disney and the dining is his favorite part he says he just can't get excited about a dinner 6 months away, but it could be because he was tried of hearing about it?
Yes, Charlotte is a practical princess and when its hot you just hike that dress right on up there.:rotfl2:

Thank you I am pretty excited to be sewing again myself. I needed that release! I have more fun stuff coming... OMG Matching shoes would be AMAZING! Jackie and Teri originals work so well together!

I am still so undecided on that sticking 1900 Park Fare outfit. I am currently trying to plan a way to incorporate Cinderella and the New Year, I'm thinking something to do with midnight?

Yay, so glad you got the ADR! And it is fun chasing the elusive ones, isn't it? ::yes::

OMG this chasing elusive ADRs is SO much fun! Although, so far I have gotten them all so it may not be as fun if I didn't get the ones I wanted.:rotfl2:

Love the Belle dress and your newly made outfits for the trip. You are so talented!
Thank you so much!

The wheels are turning...trying to find a way to incorporate Cinderella and midnight:confused3

Yes, my DH was sitting there watching Big Hero 6 alone the other night. I couldn't believe it!

Thank you! That Belle dress was a labor of love for sure. I am glad it fit her again.

That fabric is an obsession of mine! I have lots more prints of it. I'm so excited to show you all what I do with it.

So, after my last update, the world turned upside down and things have been beyond crazy. The dust is just now starting to settle a little (just a little). My mom lost her battle to cancer on Aug. 9  She was 62, too young to go! It was peaceful and painless. She went into a coma late Friday night and by Sunday morning she was gone. There is a part of me that still really can't believe this is real. I still feel so numb to it all. The funeral and everything was kind of like watching someone else go through it all, if that makes any sense? After her funeral my brother sister in law and their dog stayed in town for a few days and we spent some time together. I am still trying to sort through everything I have been through in the last year. A year ago, I was still shopping with mom and talking to her nightly on the phone. I had no idea a year ago Cecilia would be coming. I have really been through a lot in a very short time! Some amazing, some awful, but lots of changes.

The one thing you find out when you go through hard times, is just how many people care for you. About three years ago I joined this board. I loved reading trip reports and decided since I was planning a trip I would start a PTR. That decision in some ways was a big one. Over the course of the first year I was on here I "met" lots of new and neat people, but three ladies who live in the same region as I do started chatting with me and we eventually started having STL dismeets. Those ladies have become my pretty good friends. They also came to my moms wake and I am so amazed with their support. I am so happy I decided to join this board and so happy I decided to go on those dismeets! I'm a lucky girl to have such good friends!

So to close out this very sad update, I'm going to include some vintage pics of my family in Disney in 1991 and 1993:

Me, my brother and my mom in MGM in May 1991. This was the first day of my first trip!

Gotta love those 90's fashions! Too bad they didn't have photopass then, maybe we could have gotten a photo together.
Anyway, I'll be back soon with some trip stuff. I just have to get all this other stuff straight in my head!

I am so very, very sorry for your loss.

Hugs to your entire family and especially you! Please take care of yourself.....

The pictures are a wonderful way to remember your mother. Thanks for sharing special Disney memories.
