Adult hot tubs now close at 10 pm?! Anyone else upset?!

I'm never in a hurry in the MDR. I have 22 more hours a day to experience everything else.

Yes, it's always interesting to note that different people have different preferences.

I also get lectured on cruise critic for caring about my internet connection at sea.

Don't get me started on that too. >:(

I feel the same exact way with the WDW resort pools. They should only close briefly in the middle of the night for cleaning/maintenance. You should be able to enjoy them upon returning from the parks - even if you stay until closing.

See I disagree, there are hotel rooms around a pool. People at a pool at all times of the day can be a disruption to other guests. I think for safety reasons and noise reasons that is the purpose of a closing time.

I don't think noise would really be an issue. It wouldn't be packed at the pools at the end of the night. Plus, those in their rooms probably wouldn't hear anything unless they have the doors/windows open. Otherwise, with it closed up and the AC running (an almost certainty - especially if it warm enough for swimming), you're not likely hear to much of anything. As for safety, again, that comes down to personal responsibility. We don't need WDW turining into some kind of nanny state.

That is not always the case. We were upgraded to the ground floor Cl room (I believe it was BC) and there were people in the hot tub quiet pool. It was 11 pm and they were so loud we went to front desk and asked to be moved. We lost our upgrade and more people were headed to the hot tub with bottles of beer.

Rules are there for a reason. You don't have to like them but it's good for everyone if you do follow them.

People like that are more likely to be the exception rather than the rule. No need to punish the masses for the acts of a few.

Following.... we are also big fans of swimming during first seating rather than during the day so I hope that we don't experience these abbreviated hours on our next sailing (fall 2016)! As of right now, the old hours are still listed on the DCL website, with the caveat that hours may vary and to check the Navigator.

Person responsibility or not it is Disney and it is their rules. They make them for a reason. Every single hotel I have ever been to has posted hours for all of their services and I just role with it. The pool is closed we do something else. The restaurant is closing we better eat before it closes. It is the way of the world.

I think the problem is that the hours are shrinking, especially WDW. I used to really enjoy 30 minutes of lap swimming in some of the larger resort pools, but it isn't an option anymore unless I use one of the smaller quiet pools.

When things get taken away that you liked, you certainly have to adapt but it doesn't mean you have to like or can't complain about it because it's the way of the world. especially in a forum which encourages people to express their feelings on various topics.

My kids have always asked for late-night swims and time in the hot tub. They are just now 11 and 8, but we are serious night owls. It was not unusual for us to be in the pool at 11. And since I am so extremely fair-skinned and cancer-prone, night time is the only time it's really comfortable for me to be in the pool for more than 10 minutes without worrying about reapplying sunscreen. It may seem small to some who never used the pools at night, but frankly, for our family it's equivalent to closing the pools at noon for other families. My kids will be disappointed.

I love swimming when it's late enough to not have to bother with sunscreen or worry about burns. One of my favorite memories from our last cruise was bobbing around in the family pool, just the 3 of us (and a couple other kids now and then) during first seating dinner on a "moderate swell day" (i.e. the pool was a wave pool! so fun!) watching Cinderella on the big screen. Although, I am cheering myself up with the thought that sailing from NYC in mid-October, it would probably be too chilly in the evenings to feel like swimming anyway?

I don't care for that response at all. It's ignoring the trend that's being reported here of early pool closings compared to midnight that used to be standard (at least for adult pool). Yes, it might vary, but all the reports I've read here indicate early closure and I haven't seen anyone report recently the old midnight closure. I was told in Dec 2014 that they were testing it, but it sure seems that it's staying around. :(

It's also showing up as 10pm on very recent Navigators.

My husband will be so disappointed.

He usually enjoys his dinner, the show, and then a stretch in the hot tub before bed. By the time the show is over and we go back to the room to change, it won't be much time to enjoy. IF it's even open. :(

Classic Disney non-answer;)

One of the reasons we switched cruise lines after 8 DCL cruises was their massive lack of communication skill. Every time we encountered an issue that should have been easy to address, we received similar non-answers. Disney either does not seem to care, or is incapable of allowing anyone to make a decision, when it comes to customer satisfaction. BTW, on Royal Caribbean ships at least one pool and hot tub are open 24/7:)

Complaining to DCL is like P@@@ing in the ocean. You get a sense of relief and satisfaction, but the water level never changes.

I received a similar response email. I think the only difference was the signature.
It's not going to ruin my cruise or anything like that but still a little bummed about it. Good thing we've seen the shows because I think we will spend more time in the pools before late dining.

This is a huge disappointment to my family and it makes absolutely no sense. The pools are ridiculously over-crowded during the day - sometimes to dangerous levels. With or without a lifeguard, my kid is not going into a pool that crowded. Beside the obvious danger, it's not even fun. They need to make bigger pools that are open for MORE hours, not less, to make them less crowded and thus much more safe.

Do you really think another cruise line would give you a different answer? Another cruise line isn't going to respond to one customer that complains and says oh we will change that for you right away. What has happened to some extent in the past is they have backtracked on some of their decisions if they got enough complaints. Whenever I write a big corporation I expect a canned response, the fact that DCL does write some specific responses to some questions actually surprises me. Are they perfect no, but geez cut them some slack.

This is just another change that DCL is making.

There are other changes that have been made through the years. We just have to accept the changes and cruise on.

Did you reply back and let Joe know what would be helpful is if he would supply the closing times from the navigators of the last sailings of all 4 ships?
