Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I received this email from my TA when I asked about putting in a request for a large balcony - which is why we chose YC over BC, "All the Standard View rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort come with full balconies and they are all the same size. I added the request to the reservation but I think you’ll probably end up with a normal balcony." I know pixie dust is just magical, but from looking at the photos I thought there were different size balconies. Thanks.
All the rooms at the YC have full balconies, except one, and that one is a club level room - I think. There might be a few odd sized ones, but if you choose a lower floor you would probably get a normal balcony.

I can't remember if it was YC or BC but there are a few rooms that are right over the driveway that have a huge shared balcony. I had that room once and it was really nice to get up early in the morning and sit out there with my coffee. I seem to remember someone posting a picture of it here so maybe that was what she was thinking of for the large balcony.

I was thinking of that extra large balcony, too, when I made the odd size balcony comment. I would guess that you would have to have a standard view room in order to have a chance at getting that large balcony. :)

Not sure if they have their deals without tickets

They have room-only offers too; still discounted, but not as deep as the packages. We got the package for our upcoming trip, and our friends with APs are also staying there, and got a room-only deal (though when we calculated it out, our room rate was a bit lower).

It is YC! I have always wanted one of those rooms!

Anybody here looking to book for early February and finding little to no availability at YC/BC?

That's the one I really would love to have, I have my coffee and work outside in the morning and my husband usually does work outside at night. We probably use a balcony about 2-3hours per day - even on vacation. Here's hoping for a little pixie dust.

NM: That Pic!!!!!! You guys would blend in with the HS Entertainment (what they heck are they called???) I'm drawing a blank there, but you know the ones that walk around and interact with you??

Phew, I need more coffee.......................

Citizens of Hollywood.

I have also seen them referred to as "Streetmosphere" but I don't know if that is just a trip report thing, like calling La Cava de Tequila "The Ditch"

The only rooms I know of at the Yacht Club that do not have the normal, full sized balconies are:

5163- YC CL WV

and

4176 and the two other rooms next to it.

Room 4176
Standard View
Over Yacht Club Front Entrance Portico
Extra Large (3 room? balcony)
At least one connecting door between two of the rooms.

Out of pure curiosity, do you know if room 5163 (YC CL WV) is a king or 2 queens?

Another one I heard mentioned that we haven't tried is to sit at the bar at The Flying Fish. You can order apps and probably entree's.

Not sure if this was answered??? Do you have carry-on only? If you have checked bags Magical Express will deliver to your room. You don't have to be in the room to receive.

Carry-on's can be checked if room is not ready and you will have to call down when in your room.

Correct - we will only have carry-on bags. So if/when we are greeted by a CM and escorted up to club level, they will direct us on the process for getting bags checked... correct?

Since all you have is carry-on, just keep it with you all the way to the ME check-in. When you go to get on the bus, the driver will place it in the bay beneath the carriage. When you get to the hotel, the driver will give you your luggage back. You will then take it with you on the elevator up to the CL where they check you in. Then take it with you when you go to your room. No one else (other than the bus driver) will ever need to touch the carry-on bags. Hope you have a great vacation! Be sure to post updates for us readers of the thread that take our vacations vicariously through those who post updates while they are there.

FYI- I will not be monitoring this board closely for the next week. My family will be visiting Yellowstone for the first time- we are leaving on Thursday. I will probably try to read posts and may even respond to a few, but I won't have my computer with access to all of my files. I'll catch up when I get back home.
So, for anyone new to the thread, here is a generic :welcome: for now.

While we won't be at the BC this year, I have been perusing this thread off and on

I have to say it is much more fun and full of info than the Poly FAQ one. The people and posts there are great, but this one is truly the best

We have a Beaches and Cream ADR in 2 weeks so I might wander through the lobby and use the secret entrance.

Thanks Dee for all you do

I appreciate your kind words!!!

:thumbsup2

Just checked out of the BC this morning. Spent the first part of the week at the beach and the last 3 nights at BC. The resort is gorgeous and we loved the scent when you first walk in the lobby. We booked a standard view room through a TA mentioned on the boards. We arrived about 11:30am and our room was ready. I was told at check in we had a garden view room (4583). I would consider it a water view though. If I looked straight ahead I had a garden view, but looking left it was the BWI and the Dolphin. It was located near the volleyball court.

Glad you enjoyed the resort and I'm pleased to hear that the scare with the charge turned out to be nothing! Phew!

:goodvibes:

Update on the stinky carpet room - we have moved to the fourth floor and it is great - smells much better than room #1.

It's a rainy week but we are still having fun! I have shyly peeked at Teena twice, but she always has a crowd!

That's great that you were moved to a more acceptable room!

::yes::

I agree. I really enjoy the Poly thread but this thread is truly the best! We are doing a split stay in 3 weeks. 5 nights at Poly and then 5 nights at BC.

Awww!!! Thanks!

:)

Good point, I can't wait for Rivers of Light. This thread and the UK Planning area is keeping me sane in the meantime :D

I'm glad that hanging out here is helping you pass the time until your trip. But please don't place us in charge of your sanity. We are much more likely to have the opposite effect!!!

:rotfl:

7 MORE DAYS TO GO UNTIL WE ARE THERE!!!!!

Have a fantastic trip!!!

:cool1:

We check in on Wednesday for a well deserved family trip. My husband is graduating after a 3 year advanced degree distance learning program at UFL!!! It will be good to have him "back" in the family after committing so much time to his Doctoral degree. :thumbsup2

Here's hoping for sunshine between raindrops and a few Sunken treasures to celebrate his graduation and family fun!

Congrats to your DH!!! Enjoy your trip and the time together.

:woohoo:

Way off topic, but anyone been to Sedona &/or the Grand Canyon have any suggestions for places to eat? I've read reviews, but I trust the people here more!

Bumping this up to see if anyone has recommendations for you.

How about West Yellowstone? Any places to eat that we shouldn't miss?

:thumbsup2

dining reservations will never leave my hands.....

Amen to that!!!

::yes::

ETA: Someone totally needs to make a vacation countdown ticker that has a Dole Whip as a slider. Preferably, a Dole Whip with a smiley face on it.

Great idea!!!

I was going to "like" your post, but then I thought it might look like I was glad that you would not be active here, for the next week. :)

So, instead, I'll just wish you and your family a great trip to a great place!

Just in case you didn't hear, Be Our Guest now is doing reservations for breakfast...just made it a permanent addition today.

Thanks for the heads up on this!!!

:thumbsup2

They do, but since the tickets are often discounted with these deals that's probably why you can't make any changes once you arrive. Although I believe you can make changes to discounted tickets purchased from places like undercover tourist, correct??

I'm pretty sure that is correct that you are able to upgrade tickets that are purchased from UT

:)

I know this has been asked but I tried searching for the answer and I can't find it. What time should we be at the bus stop for a 8 am BOG breakfast res?

:thanks:

I am not confident answering questions about the early morning buses because whenever someone asks about them they seem to get conflicting answers. I am going to be checking out when early morning buses arrive and their destination on my upcoming trip to the BC.

The trip from the BC to MK gates takes between 15-20 minutes.

Hi everyone! I feel like I haven't been back forever! Planning a trip to YC for next April 2016. I got a job at the High School and now we can not travel in September like we usually do :( I have been pricing it out and since I will not do Disney in the summer our April vacation looks like the best bet. Is there any deals offered for April(We will be there 4/23)? DH wants to stay CL again but not sure if my parents will want to and do DDP. Should we skip DDP and just stay CL?

:welcome: back to the thread!!!

I'll pencil you in for the YC next August.v

I think there have been discounts offered in April, as long as you are not looking at spring break/Easter.

I personally would not book both CL and the Dining Plan, and I prefer CL between the two.

:woohoo:

I don't have an answer to your question, but :welcome: to this thread!

Should I pencil you in on the Be Our Guest List (Page 1, Post 15), hoping you will find something acceptable?

:cool1:

Great question! I don't know. Maybe someone who has stayed there can share this info.

:goodvibes

Ooh. The thread made top ten on the Dis Podcast. Number 9!!!

Thank you for letting us know. Great job, everyone!
