Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Another quick update - a bartender at Hurricane Hannah's said the Sunken Treasure is coming back on the menu.

The DIS strikes again!!

I'm sure there is a direct correlation between this thread and the revival of the Sunken Treasure!

Woo-hoo!!!

:banana::banana::banana:

Absolutely!!! I had never heard of the Sunken Treasure until you mentioned it here, Robyn.

And so many people here have Done Their Job by continuing to order this.

Mission Accomplished!

I regret to announce that the pineapple "non-dole-whips" are on a hiatus from Stormalong Bay. They disappeared sometime at the end of August (they were not available for my trip) and we have been told that they would be available only when staffing levels allow. I'm interpreting that to mean busy times likely, Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break and summer.

- October 2015

OK, folks, here is the "scoop" (swirl?) on the pineapple treat available at the Frozen Snack Shack at Stormalong Bay from someone who is at the resort now.

As we suspected, they are not allowed to use the D*le Wh*p name due to some trademark or licensing issues. But it is the same delicious cup of wonderful that you can get at MK, DL and the Poly. AK too?

But a Pineapple Frozen Dessert by any other name still tastes as sweet!

Unfortunately, you do need to be staying at the YC/BC/BCV to have access to the snack shack. Poolside waitstaff or people working at Hurricane Hanna's can't get one for anyone not in the pool area.

I'm not sure if you can use a Dining Plan Snack Credit for any of the treats there- I don't see the little purple DP symbol on the posted sign for things like the Mickey Bar or ice cream sandwich, although everything except for the Pineapple Treats are $3.99, so I believe that falls into snack price range. I'll check at the end of the month, or if someone is there sooner could ask and let us know, I would appreciate it.

I haven't heard if this is a temporary offering for the summer or if it will be a permanent or seasonal feature at SAB.

Mmmmm!

:woohoo:

Thank you so much!!! It's going to be so different! We already can't imagine being there without the girls, but I think we can get used to it :rolleyes1

We went last year without our boys and I was having huge mommy guilt but we had so much fun! I almost feel bad typing that but our trip was so different without the boys. Don't get me wrong, I couldn't wait to go back with them this summer but DH and I are so happy we went just the two of us last year.

Have a great trip!!!

Going without the kids is something everyone should try. It is very different but equally awesome! I highly recommend it.

Just checked out of the BC this morning. Spent the first part of the week at the beach and the last 3 nights at BC. The resort is gorgeous and we loved the scent when you first walk in the lobby. We booked a standard view room through a TA mentioned on the boards. We arrived about 11:30am and our room was ready. I was told at check in we had a garden view room (4583). I would consider it a water view though. If I looked straight ahead I had a garden view, but looking left it was the BWI and the Dolphin. It was located near the volleyball court. I was excited to receive some pixie dust on the room upgrade until I just reviewed my charges as we are driving and noticed I had been charged for the garden view room to the tune of almost $900!! If I had known it wasn't a complimentary upgrade I would have asked to be moved back to a standard view.

Last year, at BC and at GF, we used a TA and got a "Magical Deal." At GF, we got the room we paid for, and at BC, I'm pretty sure we got an upgrade as we were looking over the walkway from the back door out to the lake. Now, you really couldn't see the lake, but I think that may have been a GV. If I remember correctly, there was some horrendous charge on our final bill that looked as if BC had re-charged us for the room, or charged us for the upgrade, but when you looked at the total at the bottom, it hadn't been included. We were only truly charged for the souvenirs and dinners we'd charged to our Magic Bands. So, it may be a case where they printed what was charged just for record-keeping, but you weren't actually charged. I just hope you got a good night's sleep, and study the bill carefully today. If in fact you were charged, then yes, some phone calls definitely have to be made! Good luck!

OMG Scott- are you my twin brother separated at birth? You don't even want to know the crazy way I explained my recent upgrading to CL. In the end DH thought we were saving money after my convulted Disney math explanation!

Right? Actually, Tom knows exactly what I'm doing, but it's amazing what wine does to his wallet....the money just starts flying away......

Ooo..I like the way you think!

Lots of people who are jealous of our Disney vacations do too! We were at a christening yesterday telling people, and people were amazed that we're about to spend 10 days at CR and BC for only a smidge more than they pay to stay at POR or POFQ...moderates etc.

I'm sure it is just a mistake. We used a "magical" rate TA last year and were upgraded to a gv room and never charged an additional amount

Ditto...see above. I actually had no problems with the *magical* rate last year at all. We got to stay at BC and GF at incredible rates....only a bit more than S&D or moderates. I'll take that any day! :thumbsup2

I think The Mouse has eyes all over the place!

While we won't be at the BC this year, I have been perusing this thread off and on

I have to say it is much more fun and full of info than the Poly FAQ one. The people and posts there are great, but this one is truly the best

We have a Beaches and Cream ADR in 2 weeks so I might wander through the lobby and use the secret entrance.

Thanks Dee for all you do

I agree. I really enjoy the Poly thread but this thread is truly the best! We are doing a split stay in 3 weeks. 5 nights at Poly and then 5 nights at BC.

We took the luggage this weekend and it's in the dining room. The kids came back from their Dad's house and were so giddy saying "OMG the luggage is out. It's getting so close."

23 more days until the Poly, 28 until the BC!

I keep thinking in 4 weeks at this time I'll be walking around SAB checking it out!

When I tell people how much I'm paying for the BC or Poly they are either in shock or think I'm lying. Most brush me off like I don't know what I'm talking about lol

Our daughter already asked if she would still be included in our vacations even though she will be in college :rotfl2: I said, of course.....but not all of them!!!!!

I see a bounceback is being offered. Do people who booked the magical deal through the TA get offered the bounceback also?

Look at it this way...a whole lot of "construction projects" should be done by the time you get there...Pixar, maybe even Star Wars in DHS (or whatever they are calling it then!), and Avatar in AK...we'll all be jealous of YOU!!!
Good point, I can't wait for Rivers of Light. This thread and the UK Planning area is keeping me sane in the meantime :D

So, can you folks who use the "magical" offers...someone said that they are convention rates? Is there any problem with this from Disney's perspective? I mean, since most of us are NOT there for a convention, are there any limitations or restrictions, or other factors that make these offers different than an offer from anywhere else? (Other than price, I mean...)

We have another trip I'm planning for Spring of 2016, and while I have been very happy with my current TA, if we can get a better offer (with no strings) from another source, I'd certainly look at it. But I don't want to book something with the idea that we're going to be paying $XXX, only to find out that Disney changes their policy or something....
