I have a question, I got a bunch of soda for my sons family birthday party tomorrow, and I left it in the car because I did not want the kids to drink it all. I just took it out and the bottles feel like they were opened are they still ok to drink or should I go and buy new soda.

I am confused as to what being in the car has to do with anything? If they have been opened, I would not use them.

What do you mean by the way they feel they may be opened?

I would pour a small glass and if there's no fizz go get new ones. :)

I would also imagine the spent a lot of time in non-air conditioned transport before I bought them so would not assume heat spoils soda
Agreed. OP, I hope you don't think they keep soda cool from the time it leaves the factory until you buy it in the store.

Taste some and try.

be careful opening them if they've been in heat..they can 'explode' out of the bottle when you open them..I would try one..and judge from there. But I myself wouldn't take them to a party if they'd already been left in a hot vehicle all day long

I wouldn't worry about it. They aren't delivered in air conditioned trucks.

Is this for the party at the baseball game? I'm surprised they allow you to bring in your own beverages.

Let them cool down and then don't worry about it. Like others have said, the trucks they deliver them in are not air conditioned. I leave a 12 pack of soda in my car all the time except the coldest part of the winter (when they freeze and explode, been there, done that) and they are fine. Not tasty to drink when it's hot, but once they cool down, they are fine.

That short of time , shouldn't matter, but prolonged exposure to heat, does make the flavor and carbonation change....and not in a good way.
I live in AZ and have had many sodas that have been left in the garage or even in the pantry not taste good after awhile.....but that was more than overnight

Bottles and Cans
. Both bottled and canned soda are transported through uncontrolled environments of varying temperatures of hot and cold. Soda comes from the factory and often sits in warehouses, trucks and grocery stores. The warehouses and trucks are often not temperature controlled and soda can get hot or cold for long periods of time even before it makes it the store. The store environment is probably closest to your home environment, but in instances where stores load up for big demand and quick sales, they sometimes store the soda outside. Fortunately, the soda and containers are designed to maintain quality and taste in a variety of conditions so that the taste and quality are maintained as long as the cap or seal is not broken. Drinking soda cold or cool will give you the truest flavor so if you buy soda outside, chill it first. Long periods of heat or cold might damage the soda quality, but this is somewhat rare–but why take the chance? If you see soda stored outside, go inside and pick up your soda. And try not to shop for soda immediately after a big holiday because unsold soda will inevitably make its way from outside back to the store shelves.

Diet Soda Appears to be a Little More Susceptible to Heat. The exception might be diet soda with artificial sweeteners. These sweeteners don’t hold up well over time if they are exposed to heat. Often your soda may not only be flat, but the flavor will taste “off” or less sweet. Yuck!

DH has left diet soda bottles in his car over night (Arizona desert heat) and the bottles were misshapen -- they couldn't stand up straight. Upon opening them (carefully) the fizz was gone.
