Poolrat and GoofyFan's Great Adventure- Wilderness in August edition- 8/15 Last day REALLY !!!!!

Wow, I have missed so much! Never on the DIS anymore and every time is say I am going to come back and keep up, I get so depressed not having any hope of a trip in the works that I wimp out and stay away.

This pics are WONDERFUL! While I am not at all happy about DVC being added to my beloved Polynesian Village, it is nice to see they appear to be well done...with the cost per point to rent points, this will be closest I will ever get to the inside of Poly DVC. We stayed in Moorea when the longhouse first opened (different name) - it did feel far from the action and GCH but the rooms were very nice and bathrooms were great in that longhouse.

The new lobby looks sad to me...empty. Not sure if I will ever adjust to the missing waterfall as it was so much a part of the original Polynesian Village. Wonder if it will still be my favorite resort and home away from home.

Congrats on the race...amazing how you figured all that out and at night, no less! :cheer2:

Hope things improve at work...that kind of stress is the pits. :grouphug:

I ,too am sorry for falling behind , work is the main reason but Windows 8 and the new Dis don't help!!:sad2:. Loved the Poly rooms except the leaky shower. . I did not even begin to understand the clue s:sad2::rotfl2: I am busy planning Universal in October now !! Keep checking out the rides /shows and food !!!

My parents have this type of drain. In modern baths in Germany it has become pretty much the standard drain over the last 5 years or so. I know that several friends have it. And one couple has a massive rain shower to go with it (that makes the one at the Poly look tiny). Never heard them complaining. There must have been something clogging up the drain. If installed properly, it works totally fine.

My guess that the grout person clogged it up or there was a problem somewhere between the plumbing for that room and where it connected to the plumbing for the other room. The other bathroom had no issues - tub or sink while both the shower and sink in the other bathroom both drains ran slow.

I love the pic of both of you with the plane, you look really fit!! :thumbsup2

Thank you !!!! Marv has really worked hard. I keep trying and am seeing my clothes fit better but really I am re-losing the weight that I already lost but it came back and found me. :sad2: Now I need to get the scale to show it too.

Pat, I'm sorry...I've fallen behind (I don't get here as often as I used to since I took my reports off here).

I hear about all the drama but actually missed all of it too. So sorry to hear what I heard, so uncalled for.

We went to Trader Sams...LOVED it (although the Tiki Gods did not like us because we took a flash photo :lmao:

We tried 3 or 4 times but just didn't have the time to really wait. Next trip it will be a priority.

Love the pictures of the new Hub which I absolutely love by the way.

I do like the way it opens stuff up. I thought it was funny it was astroturf but it makes sense since it will get a lot of foot traffic.

Wow, I have missed so much! Never on the DIS anymore and every time is say I am going to come back and keep up, I get so depressed not having any hope of a trip in the works that I wimp out and stay away.

Glad to have you back. I have been so busy it has been hard to get over here. Weekends for me mean yard work and like this past weekend, mattress shopping. :crazy2:

They have dedicated the parking lot near the new Moorea for DVC, so awkward turn but easy and pretty close parking. It was a nice walk to the GCH, and while it does look like you lost most of the beach and view it is still a pretty darn beautiful resort.

The new lobby looks sad to me...empty. Not sure if I will ever adjust to the missing waterfall as it was so much a part of the original Polynesian Village. Wonder if it will still be my favorite resort and home away from home.

Once you see the lobby in person it is okay- I thought I would hate it but it really brings a open airy tropical feel to it. the natural light alone make it an improvement

Congrats on the race...amazing how you figured all that out and at night, no less! :cheer2:

I was a little worried and the hardest one was the first one but we did it. And we checked - faster than a lot of couples our age in fact. :hyper2:

Hope things improve at work...that kind of stress is the pits. :grouphug:

It was bad- got worse and is now better. Some of the changes will benefit me now- no more being pulled out of my facility to cover other facilities, we are increasing full time staffing at mine so I get to stay put and an overall better schedule. :)

I ,too am sorry for falling behind , work is the main reason but Windows 8 and the new Dis don't help!!:sad2:.

Seems like we are all behind for some reason or another. Hopefully for all of us - things will settle down soon.

Loved the Poly rooms except the leaky shower. . I did not even begin to understand the clue s:sad2::rotfl2: I am busy planning Universal in October now !! Keep checking out the rides /shows and food !!!

Poly was nice and the shower just had some plumbing issues and design flaws.

I need to see if I can ever get over to Universal.

I think I'm all caught up! So I think I see a sliver of beach where you can still see the castle and potentially view Wishes! I guess I'll just be staking out my spot on future evenings.:thumbsup2

Sorry the shower gave you trouble. There had to be a clog or something, I would think.

Nice work on the race clues! I'm an engineer and that first clue would give me fits too!:rotfl:

There is still beach but now EWP lines up with the boat dock so that has been my spot of choice. And no sand in my shoes and no bug bites either.

I used that shower anyway. :) The slow draining was really a pain. Upon looking at the door situation since I am planning on some bathroom work soon, I need to make sure the shower doors don't have those gaps.

I have had construction where the tile guys thinks it is fine to wash grout and stuff down the drain only to have it harden after they are gone and stop up the drain. :sad2:

I guess my real issue was I know they "test" the rooms with CMs so why wasn't it fixed before guests were allowed in? :confused3

Looking now I don't have the concentration to solve that first clue. :rotfl: When I first read it I read " in a row" like 123 234, so you can see that scribble on the left side.

The answer was 34 but just now I came up with 38. :earseek: Go figure. I just don't have enough fingers to count it all up. Obviously those making up the clues did not realize we would only have the card and our fingers to figure it all out. There was a bottleneck at that clue spot. :faint: After that we were good.

I am loving your TR! You have a great eye for picking out so many cool little details that are not obvious at first look. Makes me feel like I'm back already, even though that won't be for quite some time yet. Loved the window washers in the Land, haha!

Thanks for some more views of the Poly. I'm glad that they're putting in some good water play areas.

Your post of the new hub made me realize that I don't think I took any pictures of it....was too busy running from place to place. Since it had been 3 years since our last visit to the parks, we were still a little bit commando-style.

Oh I see how it is , I am not allowed to gripe whine etc , :rotfl2:I was just explaining how we are going to switch from paper to online tracking at work :scared1::scared1: Let's see if I can gripe that much:rotfl2:

Back on the DIS a little bit and am trying to read and keep up with some PTRs and TRs that DISfriends have in progress! It is tough with some of the new user names and I am not used to the new format. Looking forward to VWL photos! I agree with Kathy - I am not too crazy about the new Poly lobby though I love that resort in general.

You got to meet up with Tammie - very cool!

Thanks for the EE update. It looks like a fun race but the whole clue thing is too much for my short attention span. You guys did great. Sorry you are not a fan of night races. I actually run better at night so I would like to try one. Sorry to see it end.

Thanks for all the great Poly pictures. It really makes me want to stay there and yet I am so point poor right now it is totally not the right thing to do anytime soon.

Hope things aren't insane for you at work right now.

Hi to Marv who looks like he lost some weight for the race. Looking good Marv!!!!

Thanks and :welcome: I really got interested as I was reading other TR's and realized all the detailed I seem to miss. I like looking for the unusual or new things at the world.

Thanks for some more views of the Poly. I'm glad that they're putting in some good water play areas.

The splash pads are nice since the standing water is minimal, the overall risk is less than a pool and it makes things a bit more accessible for all.
Ah yes the new hub looks nice - wasn't sure how I would like them "messing" with the hub. But looks like it will be a winner.

I can imagine after 3 years you would be a bit commando. Lots of new stuff to take in.

I just typed a whole reply and it won't let me post

:sad2:

Oh No - I can imagine a switch like that is going to take some getting used to - we STILL have change at work and so time consuming to deal with. :headache:

:welcome: back. Yes the format takes some getting used to. I will hopefully have an update soon. Working on it but work is well work these days.

You got to meet up with Tammie - very cool!

Hi to Marv who looks like he lost some weight for the race. Looking good Marv!!!!

It was cool to meet up with Tammie.
I liked this race but had all day to fret about too many things that didn't matter in the end. I guess just as bad as not being able to sleep before getting up at the crack of before dawn. :rotfl2:

On points I am borrowed out. Things are getting into a routine at work but still so much to keep up with. We sort of had a reorg, which means instead of me bouncing between 3 centers I get to stay at teh one I am responsible for but now we are bringing staff in our center up to our standards which means more training and hand holding.

Marv says hi- and thanks He is looking good and working hard! I am so proud of him.

However, things like that really should not happen! And I totally understand your frustation!
It was a great concept, and at first it was hard to realize that was actually the drain. But then, I think that was part of the problem. Even when I really focused in on it, it was very difficult to see any gap around that area at all. It was all good though............I didn't have a single problem with the other shower and bathroom. :)

I love the pic of both of you with the plane, you look really fit!! :thumbsup2
Thanks! But there was no way I was going to join Pat for my first ever run event, much less a Run Disney event, and embarrass myself! It was great motivation to do something that sorely needed to be done long ago. I feel much better without carrying a small child around with me everywhere I go.

The new lobby looks sad to me...empty. Not sure if I will ever adjust to the missing waterfall as it was so much a part of the original Polynesian Village. Wonder if it will still be my favorite resort and home away from home.
I didn't think I would like it at first either, but the more I looked at the changes to the lobby, which I had seen during a previous quick visit, I really like how open it is, and how much light it adds. So inviting and easy to navigate..........while still having that tropical feel that always attracted me to The Poly. :goodvibes

I ,too am sorry for falling behind , work is the main reason but Windows 8 and the new Dis don't help!!:sad2:.
I can sure relate to THAT! :faint:

We tried 3 or 4 times but just didn't have the time to really wait. Next trip it will be a priority.
Yes, I expect we will try frequent attempts until successful........... like tracking down the EWP! :rotfl:

Once you see the lobby in person it is okay- I thought I would hate it but it really brings a open airy tropical feel to it. the natural light alone make it an improvement
:thumbsup2

Nice work on the race clues! I'm an engineer and that first clue would give me fits too!:rotfl:
Pat read it to me the first time, and the way it read had me totally off track to start with. Then when the CM gave us a little assistance when she saw we were on the wrong track, we finally figured it out. Later when we had more time, we slowly read the clue again and it made a little more sense, but I figured out if they had rearranged the clue just a little, it would have been more clear. Then after reading it again, like Pat mentions below this, we are convinced that THEY even had the wrong answer based on the clue.........and there are actually two more correct times that fit.

That first clue was definitely a little much to figure out all in your head, still sweating and panting from the 5k run..........:scratchin

Welcome! Yes Pat is very good at capturing so many little details. Unfortunately I guess, it means I have gotten a little lazy taking my own pictures. I really don't have anything from this trip that Pat didn't take and already post...............

Your post of the new hub made me realize that I don't think I took any pictures of it....was too busy running from place to place. Since it had been 3 years since our last visit to the parks, we were still a little bit commando-style.
Hey, how you choose to dress for the parks is your own business.................. :scared1:

Oh I see how it is , I am not allowed to gripe whine etc , :rotfl2:I was just explaining how we are going to switch from paper to online tracking at work :scared1::scared1: Let's see if I can gripe that much:rotfl2:
Nothing will ever stop our dear Rosie from griping, whining and complaining!!! :rotfl2:

Good to see you back around here some! :cheer2:

You got to meet up with Tammie - very cool!
Very, VERY cool indeed! :cool1: Just wish we had a little more time to chat, but they got seated for O'Hana in record time I think.............

Hi to Marv who looks like he lost some weight for the race. Looking good Marv!!!!
Thanks MEK! It seems things have gotten a little stagnant right now since I would still like to lose those last 15 pounds. Even though I still get my walks and daily steps in, I haven't had the chance to do the more stringent walk/run workouts lately that help keep me moving in the right direction, so have sort of plateaued right now. Partly time...........partly the heat...........but mostly trying to get that pain in my right knee to go away or at least ease up so I can get back to more frequent runs again.

Marv says hi- and thanks He is looking good and working hard! I am so proud of him.
:flower3:

Nothing will ever stop our dear Rosie from griping, whining and complaining!!!

Of course you had to chime in to pick on me !!!:rotfl2: But we have gone from the Stone age like the Flintstones to the Jetsons in a VERY short time !! The IT department has me on speed dial:rotfl2:But the LUV me !! I give them a daily laugh !!:jumping1:I am trying though !! Add to that I am on call for 5 houses and 2 of them have had individuals sent to the Psyche ER with Police involvement :faint::eek::eek::scared1::scared1: On guy was in arrested last weekend and put in jail:hyper::hyper:

Oh Rosie never a dull moment. :scared1::scared1:

I hope things calm down a bit soon for you.

Happy Birthday Pat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:bday:

I hope it's magical and filled with pixie dust.

And now I need to attempt catching up :)

As impossible as it is to believe, I am all caught up!

And THAT is how old folks like me throw their back out!

As soon as we were back in the room

IMG_9835.jpg

I don't know what it is about WL but something about watching the rain, from the balconies there, is a very happy place for me. Perhaps it's just the view of the rain with the trees or the sound the combo makes but I like it.
Oh hey - we are not limited to 25 images anymore........

I think it's 35 now

Over to the teacups.

IMG_0048.jpg

I like this picture!

YAY! I meant to comment on this when you first posted it as I saw it on my phone what...a month, 2 ago? Too long for sure. Lame.

kay the sad pictures - Here is the car and the damage. I was hit driver's side and really lucky for the airbags and where I was hit on the side. I had the protection of the support bar between the doors. Doesn't look so bad but remember that was totaled. Over 11 K in damage. :scared1: Between airbags and the frame it was a mess.

Oh my word, I am so grateful you are ok!

Anyhow I will present

THE EXPEDITION EVEREST CHALLENGE INTERMISSION..

THE POLY CAME ONLINE. It was more points than I wanted to use. BUT IT WAS THE POLY.

I am having that struggle with an April booking. I should book my placeholder today but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

he room wasn't ready yet - But I actually got that text.

Amazing, Poly luck?

Yes this one is us ...

That's a framer, super cute! The race looks hard. Even though it's only a 5K that's a lot of brain power in the dark. LOL!

I always said that if DVC ever opened a resort at The Poly, that was the one I just HAD to own points at. Well if the cost/point, the number of points needed to book a room, and the OMG overly high Maintenance Fee costs weren't enough to squash that idea, this little design flaw would have certainly put things over the edge (no pun intended). :sad2:

I am torn. I LOVE the layout, that design flaw though, is awful. I've been considering it for next april but the thought of those points on a solo trip kind of kills me. But I really love the rooms, they are just beautiful. And of course, Trader Sam's!

Happy Birthday Pat!!

Hope you have a great day!

:bday:

(and thanks to Cynthia for alerting me to the fact that it is your birthday)
