In room gifts..... Let's talk about it.

So, does anyone feel like the in room gifts are lack luster? Compared to what you can get through the resort I just feel like it fails in comparison. I get that it's a cruise and they have less space and ability to get things on-board, but I think they should add more things now that we can't buy gift baskets to be delivered.

Even the in room celebration is meh.

Anyone else feel this way? Or am I coo coo:bored:

Most DCL gifts are overpriced, not value for money, and if foot can be obtained onboard within the cruise fare.

No need to buy a fruit gift as there is fruit everywhere on the ship.

No need to by the cheese board you can get a all hands on deck from room service from 1.30 pm.

Wine is a nice gift, more expensive than a shop but at what you expect for a restaurant.

The room decorations are very poor.

Frozen gifts look niche but whilst I haven't ordered them, look expensive again.

DCL gifts are not worth it.

Very lack luster in my opinion! Why don't they let us order things from the gift shop to surprise our kids. Sure would make sense to me.

blah!

what i want to know is what is that smilie doing in the OP? I have been pondering this for a whuile and here's the perfect chance to ask....looks like a circular yo-yo or............and what does it represent?

Table tennis, ping pong.

That is a great idea! I would love to do that.

Spinoff question - Because the DCL gifts are so sad, I made goody bags for our group that is traveling in 3 rooms. Do you think there is any way I can get them in the rooms so they can be a surprise? Or should I just accept that I am going to be passing them out myself?

and what is the ping pong guy supposed to represent? I'm not too bright........

I just thought the ping pong guy was playful. lol

I think what you can do is ask the stateroom person to deliver it for your friends and family.

I Agree!

The last time, we've ordered wine and ended up not drinking all of it and honestly we were not impressed: the first bottle was just good, the second was not the wine listed on the package and was just okay (what a waste!) the only wine we truly enjoyed was the one we ordered at Remy.

Like all of you said, with "free food" everywhere, why would you pay for more food?

I've been looking at the gifts lately and honestly, the only thing I might order is the water bottle that we could use as a "refillable mug". Maybe the Romance for 2 package because I want the robes. LOL

I wish they would add other stuff like a Cove Café mug (like the beer mug but for coffee!) or a Cove Café Gift Card that would cover expenses. Gift cards for the gifts shops. Gift Cards for the popcorn LOL (until then, we have the onboard credit)...

I wish they would add a Sailor Mickey, like the one they have in the store. So I can surprise my boys, something! I agree with everyone, why would I want to order anything a head of time when we get food for free.

At the resort, you can build a gift basket.

Why not have that?

Totally agree about the blahness of what is offered... I keep looking hoping that there will be something new added to surprise the kiddos with.
What I have learned here is there is an option to get a basket at the world? Is that through Disney your outside (ie Shirley). Please share the insights... I think we are going to stop at the world for a couple of nights before we sail. Although I hate to then carry the stuff onto the ship, it is probably better than no surprise!

Thanks everyone!

Never Say Never

I wonder if it's over priced on purpose? Almost to discourage? The only things that seem reasonable from what I can tell is the romance package because robes can be pricey, so I get the value of that. I will be ordering that for DH and myself this trip! And a little sparkling wine never hurt :) I'll also order the romance for 1 as a surprise awaiting my MIL in her room, as a birthday gift. Beyond that, nope. Got the beer mug last time for DH, he wasn't sure in the end if there was value in it (for as much as he used it) but will be bringing it along to use again, so that should work out.

Other than these items, everything else is beautiful but kind of a waste.

They used to have a lovely sail-away package that came with a bottle of sparkling wine and a very nice tray of treats (100x better than anything I found on board). I really miss that and wish they would offer it again. I'd buy it every time because it wasn't overly expensive (I think around $32) and very good. It was fun to toast our first cruise and first sail-away with champagne and treats and a great way to surprise my family.

This looks really nice. I wish they still had something like this. I wanted to have something in our room when we arrive (for our 20th anniversary) but there was nothing listed that would work for us. This would have been perfect.
