BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

I just contacted the owner and see what she says... who knows what they are telling DVC members VS. people who are booked in the main bld direct through disney?! crossing my fingers something can be settled before our 7 month mark

and when you moved from a studio to a 1br at AKV did you end up having to pay more, the difference in points? I am renting a studio at WLV and want to know what others are being offered or told the choices are.

for those of you who switched resorts, are any of you staying before the announced Oct 26 start date? Now that there seems to be confirmation that there will be sections blocked off for early prep work starting Oct 2, I am wondering what the options are for those of us falling in that middle zone. We are renting points for a studio Oct 4-10. While I hate having things blocked off, I really don't want to switch resorts. But I am hoping for some compensation if things are disruptive. I hope if occupancy is down maybe they can upgrade us to a one bedroom, has anyone had experience with room upgrades on the villas side?

The owner I rented from sent me an e-mail yesterday telling me about the construction and that he's had a couple of other renters switch resorts. One was even offered the GF regular room. He told me if I wanted to switch, he would look into what was available. After he checked, he e-mailed me back and said that since the construction will not start until Oct. 26, they were not offering to move people booked earlier than that. My dates are Oct. 10-17. He said he could check other DVC resorts and see if there was availability he could switch me to, but Disney itself was not offering anything. I opted to just stay and hope for the best. It would be nice if Disney offered something to those of us staying Oct. 2-26 since it seems early prep work will begin while we are there and it could affect us. I doubt we get offered anything, but one can hope.

The new reservation was double the points but didn't cost us or the owner a dime. The reason we got a 1br is because we're a family of 5 and there are only a few DVC studios that sleep 5.

gotcha! we always book the studios, just wondering what if anything we will be able to do before the availability is gone at alternate DVC studios.

Thanks for this reply it is very helpful!!

ITA and the Grand Floridian is just as beautiful if not more so at Christmas!
I must be one of the few that would not take the GF at a WL rate. We have stayed at the GF in the past and really didn't do anything for us. It just seemed like any other nice hotel. There was just no comparison to the WL at Christmas either. I know I'm in the minority but I wouldn't be happy going to the GF Ove the WL.

So glad I could be of help, @rachdd. Have you made a decision yet?

I have, we are moving to the Grand. I am going to miss the WL Christmas decor but I think it is the best decision for us. We will make sure to stop by the lodge for a visit though.

what are DVC members being offered? I have nov 25-28th booked and I received the mesg today. I just am wondering what others have been offered so I can try to figure out what possible options we have. TIA!

Hi, I am coming over from the U.K Oct 17th - 29th. I spoke to the guys at Disney travel who would not move me due the 'major construction' not starting until the 26th. I am due to stop in the main building but I guess the work is going to start before 26th?

Ok So I asked to be moved anywhere and since its a holiday week they are booked solid. So I got the memory maker and the fast passes. The gentleman was very helpful but he said that the memory maker would just show up under mde and I don't see it. Has anyone else had this issue? Will they send me the card like they normally do? I didn't think to ask if they would send anything to me such as an email or in the mail so I would have proof that they gave it to me.

It should be under the Reservations and Tickets link in MDE. Memory Maker is at the very bottom on my page, after Fastpass listings.

I'm renting, reservation in December, and my owner called DVC member services. They didn't help at all.

He emailed me:
It was not DVC that moved them. It was the resort themselves. The resort front desk can relocate guests into other resorts. So we will have to wait and see what they will do. DVC said they have not heard of guests being moved.

This is not true, the member services rep apparently was not up to speed. DVC members/renters are being offered to move or if wanting to stay, some have been offered concessions such as fast passes, spa credits, water park tickets, and/or compensation in the form of a room credit. The member needs to conact member services and ask for a supervisor.

That is absolutely untrue, as it was DVC Member services -- not Disney guest Services -- that called about moving my reservation and when they realized I was not the member, just a lowly renter, they advised me to have the owner call DVC Member Service on my behalf to have my reservation moved. FWIW I'm second guessing my choice to move, anyway. AKL was never on our list of resorts to stay at and now I feel like I'm stuck there. It's only 2 nights so I can suck it up, but I'd rather be at the WL.
