Good afternoon

Wow, the cajon pass 15 and 138 major fire and many cars are on fire. A whole car carrier is on fire right now. This is really bad.
 


I got a 1997 Ford Explorer. It's got a few issues, but nothing we can't take care of (at some point...). I fixed the AC myself (it needed to be recharged) and just ordered a replacement for a failing driver's seat belt buckle. It comes undone without being pressed, which I don't feel safe with. So I found the part on eBay for $30 (including shipping) and ordered it and it'll be here soon. It also might need new headlights soon, but I'm not sure. It needs some air in the tires, but I can do that tomorrow before I leave for work. The center console is missing the cover, but I can easily make one out of cardboard, pillow stuffing, and some cute fabric, then stick it on with gorilla glue. There are also some annoying stickers on the back window that I'm going to try and get off. My roommate's dad knows a lot about cars and is coming to visit in a week or two, so I'm going to ask him if he can take a look at it and let me know if there's anything dire that needs to be taken care of ASAP.

Congratulations again.

Like you said, a few things to fix....but the main one will be the drivers seat belt buckle, right? You need to be safe in the car.
Hope your roommate's dad gives it a good looking over and everything checks out.

No not my car, I was watching it live on the news. Dana what makes you think the headlights are going out?

Yeah, when we went back to the room for our nap after an incredible lunch, we saw it on the news. I watched the coverage for an hour before we left to come back to the park. I pity anyone from Vegas who came for the 60th. They're going to need to go through Tehachapi to get home in the next couple days.

I had an Explorer for about 5 years. It might have been a 1997. I loved that car, but I drove 100+ miles a day during the week and it hit 100,000 miles really quickly.

Krud Kutter works great for adhesives. I hope the rest is an easy fix, or at least not too much to do or too expensive.

Did you see the car carrier and that truck burn? That was so crazy.
 
Saturday night and all's well in Oz.
My footy team won and the sun was shining today, for a change.
I'm now curled up on the couch with my furbaby.
