Selfie sticks: Will DCL Follow

Now that WDW/DL has officially banned Selfie sticks, how soon will DCL follow their land brethren!

Yep. As well as those people who hold their iPads over their heads in the front of others to get that "perfect shot".

Selfie stick on Expedition Everest= bad idea. Like people need to be told not to hold a tall stick above their roller coaster car as it goes around the track.

They are already banned on the Aquadunk...lol.

Oh, I know. We saw people all over Copenhagen using their Ipads as cameras with their covers hanging down doubling the size of the area you now can't see.

Evidently banning them on rides isn't enough anymore. Thus the park wide ban. California Screamin' was down for an hour today because some "idiot" used his selfie stick on the ride.

I have to admit, I don't remember seeing very many selfie sticks on our cruise

100% agree!! At my daughter's school Christmas concert the number of Ipads and other tablets that were held up in the crowd as cameras and video cameras was astounding. They looked STUPID holding these bloody great hulking things and they blocked the view of so many people. Ugh.

Completely agree. Using them in a theme park vs on Castaway Cay are 2 different scenarios! I'm looking forward to getting some pics with my selfie stick on my cruise.

I hope so those and taking photos on an iPad are annoying. In one of those advice columns in Oprah mag someone asked if would be o.k. to take a selfie stick to funereal.

I can see banning them in the parks but I brought mine onboard and I think if you are mindful of your surroundings and courteous to other people while using it is OK...but we all know not everyone has common sense in the world.

I don't see the big deal if I am in the back row of a deck party and hold my camera on a selfistick above everyone how it affects anyone. Yes, if I banged someone in the head but otherwise it is not obstructing anyone else's view so should not be a problem.

The problem is the people that wave the things around, lift them into the air and ruin other peoples views, the Wind grabbing them out of peoples hands.ec, etc! I agree with MJ and pgroom, most folks are careful and courteous and would use them at the back of the party crowd. The problem is these other people!,with no common courtesy. That is why they were banned from the parks and I believe will be from DCL.

Well, yes, people who use them to take pics of just themselves is one thing but I use it to get a bunch of people in the pic!! My arms are too short otherwise. It is a great tool for that!! Like anything else it is a cool tool if used courteously!

Exactly! We all got plenty of selfies (before the term) for MySpace before narci-sticks became all the rage. You can TOTALLY live without a narci-stick.

And before someone uses the "but I want to be in the picture *whine*" argument, do what people have done for years. ASK SOMEONE AROUND YOU TO TAKE IT! If you're using a narci-stick you aren't using a complicated camera. I realize that would mean you'd have to actually talk to someone, but it always works fine for me.
