There are signs on the comfort station doors stating there has been a black bear sited in the camp ground recently and to be cautious.
I'll take a picture of the sign and post it soon

Was it HUMPHREY ?????

Now I have to go and google map the Fort to figure out how the bear got there in the first place. Nice! We always enjoy seeing black bears in TN. Seeing one at the Fort???? Well that would just add to the excitement :)

Good thing the bear will be hibernating when we're there in January! Hehehe.... If it persists I'm sure they will have it moved just like gators and such.

IF confronted by a black bear, first thing to do is run, then climb a tree to escape the bear. Oh wait that may not work. The black bear can run up to 35 mph and is a great climber. Luckily they really don't like people for dinner, just the yummy stuff people bring with them. :earseek:

When hiking, if I run across a bear, I start running around in circles, flapping my arms, and clucking like a chicken. I think I read to do that somewhere...

Seems to always work.

1) Even Tennessee animals get vacations.
2) Could you bear to stay in the state when relatives (like Humphrey) were having so much fun at The Fort?

1) Probably written by another chicken.
2) Remember, you do not have to out-run the bear.
3) You ONLY have to out-run the person you are with!

How do you propose to out run yourself?

Go with another person, or see persons nearby.
. . . two guys walking in the woods come across a bear
. . . first guy leans over and re-ties his sneakers
. . . the second guy says, "Adjusting your shoes won't make you faster than the bear."
. . . the first guy says, "Nope, just faster than YOU."

You only have to run faster than one other person. So, get out there and do your walking with someone slow that you dont like so much.

Was told my one of the cast members here teaching archery, that this particular bear makes his rounds from Coronado springs resort to the race track and then over to the Fort, he lives somewhere around here

Does the Fort have Bear Cannisters? If so, might be a good idea to use them. Otherwise, bear bags!

And remember, they like deodorant and toothpaste, too, not just snacks and goodies! :dog2:
