Canadian Buffoon's Solo Disney Vacation - Update 07/08! pp99 - Here today gone tomorrow

I didn't even notice this! It was way too early in the morning

I didn't get it at first! It was like a Where's Wally puzzle! :lmao:

Or when the batteries die.

Don't you just hate when that happens...

You give up too soon, grassshoper.

I'll keep trying but its hard!
All that waxing....:sad2:

Carrie and Andy... better watch out. Someone's catching up.

That's right you guys.... I'm coming for you....

But see how nice it was to give her the extra congrats?
(Which I'll pass on, BTW.)

::yes::

"Mr Smith? I know I'm failing English. But is there anything I can do to earn and extra credit?"
"Well, Molly. I suppose if you can type "Exploring our unknown future" correctly I'll let you pass."
"Thanks Mr Smith! Just hang on..... There! How'd I do?"

"Well.... See you next year."

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

 Don't feel bad. I don't think many people noticed it at the dinner.
It's just not something that you look for!

Now if Lu hadn't noticed, I'd be all over her.

(I keep tossing them up...)

I'm real good with all them book learnin' :thumbsup2

You had for real books????

Pleased, are we?

That's right you guys.... I'm coming for you....

It's on!

Hey now don't make me get the Panda....

:lmao: :rotfl:

We just returned yesterday, had a great time, but yikes was it hot!

A fellow hater of coconut! < fist bump >

Also, I passed up the Margarita stand, even though I've had one from there before and it was really good..... But the day before, at Animal Kingdom, when it was nearly as hot as the surface of the sun, I got a mango rum frozen lemonade. Oh it was delicious, but.... When it's that hot out, alcohol seems amplified to me, and doesn't feel great sitting in my stomach. Probably all in my mind, but still... I thought I should pass up the margarita stand.

The 3 Caballeros are fun, and a nice break from the heat. Well, if you're like us and go in the middle of the heat of summer, you look for all the dark, cool rides you can.

Great chapter!
Dawn

Yay! I actually made it before the end of this TR. Hard to believe it's been almost a month since I last posted, but life definitely intervened with good and bad.

To answer a question you probably forgot you asked: No I didn't dive Disney, but I volunteered as a diver at the aquarium in the North East for a number of years. On the Dolphin question, yes they can be territorial but also playful. At our aquarium they were very protective of the dolphins. They didn't want you to even look the dolphins in the eye because they didn't want them interacting with anyone but the trainers.

To whoever wanted to learn to scuba dive: come see me! It's what I do for a living (well it doesn't really pay well, but luckily DH has a real job! ;)

Warning: Blatant pity party ahead, skip unless you wish to award pity points!:
So I've been on a rollercoaster this past month, which is kinda like Disney, right?? (No, not really even close). The month started with the click, click, click of the coaster heading to the top as we spent the first part of a 4 day graduation weekend extravaganza at DS1's college graduation. So many great things going on and seeing all his wonderful accomplishments at college.

Unfortunately what goes up must come down.....my dear dad passed away while we were celebrating graduation. So although we still had several days of "ups" at the college, we also had to face the hugh "down".

Then after we got home, we arranged to fly to AZ for the funeral. Headed to the airport. After waiting until an hour after scheduled take-off, we went "uppity, up, up". Unfortunately then we went "downditty down, down" back to original airport due to computer problems. After 6 hours, two planes, multiple crew changes, it was all over and the plane never left the ground. We would not make the funeral, no way, no how. :guilty::guilty::guilty:

OK pity party over. On to additional smoozing for points:

Thanks for the history lesson! And just in case you are awarding additional points, I've been to St. Mark's square (the real one, not the Disney one).

My DS2 is just like your dad--he's from Germany (he was born there when DH was stationed in Germany and we were living there).

Look closer.
I spy "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" but that's a reference to that other park. Still an all time favorite book!

And for your regular points for guesses (really did the above count for anything other than whining (which isn't allowed at Disney)?:

Dinner: Everyone is guessing Mexico, so I'm going to guess Electric Umbrella just to be different
Character: Duffy doing the Can Can with guests (if I'm going to make a crazy guess, might as well really go crazy)
NO to Illuminations
And just to be crazy-er: 0 minutes because you went back to see MK for Wishes rather than going back to your room.

Oh, and one last feeble beg for points due to another connection of things we have in common. Not only did we celebrate DS1's college graduation, but I also have DS2 who just graduated from HS! See I'd comment on the minute size of our globe, but since that might remind you of that hated (or isn't it hated anymore) ride at MK, I'll just say, gee we seem to have a lot of common experiences, don't we! :rotfl2::thumbsup2:rotfl::rotfl:

Welcome back! Glad to hear you had fun... even in the heat.

A fellow hater of coconut! < fist bump >

<fist bump> Right back atcha.

Also, I passed up the Margarita stand, even though I've had one from there before and it was really good..... But the day before, at Animal Kingdom, when it was nearly as hot as the surface of the sun, I got a mango rum frozen lemonade. Oh it was delicious, but.... I get that. I do.
I don't hold your skipping of the Margarita against you.
I'll have a drink just like the next guy... well, some guys... but I have no desire to be drunk at Disney.
Plus, who wants to miss a rope drop because you're too hung-over???

The 3 Caballeros are fun, and a nice break from the heat. Well, if you're like us and go in the middle of the heat of summer, you look for all the dark, cool rides you can.

Makes sense.
I try to avoid the heat.

Great chapter!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Yay! I actually made it before the end of this TR. Hard to believe it's been almost a month since I last posted, but life definitely intervened with good and bad.

Hey! I remember you!
The lady who scuba dives... possibly in the Living Seas,
but she hasn't answered that question yet.

To answer a question you probably forgot you asked: No I didn't dive Disney, but I volunteered as a diver at the aquarium in the North East for a number of years

Oh, I didn't forget, see previous comment.

Oh, alright. I did. But as soon as you mentioned it, I remembered.

Counts.

You volunteered as a diver at an aquarium. What were you're duties as volunteer aquarium diver?

On the Dolphin question, yes they can be territorial but also playful. At our aquarium they were very protective of the dolphins. They didn't want you to even look the dolphins in the eye because they didn't want them interacting with anyone but the trainers.

Really! Huh. Interesting.

To whoever wanted to learn to scuba dive: come see me! It's what I do for a living (well it doesn't really pay well, but luckily DH has a real job! ;)

It may not pay well... but that's 'frican cool!
Where do you do the open water certification dives?

Congrats to your DS#1!

Unfortunately what goes up must come down.....my dear dad passed away while we were celebrating graduation. So although we still had several days of "ups" at the college, we also had to face the hugh "down".

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss!

Then after we got home, we arranged to fly to AZ for the funeral. Headed to the airport. After waiting until an hour after scheduled take-off, we went "uppity, up, up". OMG! That's terrible! I'm so, so sorry that happened! I really feel for you.
We were living an airplane away when DW's father passed.
We easily made the funeral, but being far away is an added burden to an otherwise already difficult time.

OK pity party over. On to additional smoozing for points:

All right. Let's see what you've got.

Thanks for the history lesson!

;)

And just in case you are awarding additional points, I've been to St. Mark's square (the real one, not the Disney one).

Okay... We'll see. I dunno, though.

My DS2 is just like your dad--he's from Germany (he was born there when DH was stationed in Germany and we were living there).

So... out of curiousity, does he hold dual citizenship?
And I'll think about those points.

I spy "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" but that's a reference to that other park. Still an all time favorite book!

We had that book! I don't remember if we bought it or if it was a gift from someone else.

And for your regular points for guesses (really did the above count for anything other than whining (which isn't allowed at Disney)?:

You'll just have to wait and see.

(But I suspect you just might get some. Don't tell anyone!)

Dinner: Everyone is guessing Mexico, so I'm going to guess Electric Umbrella just to be different
Character: Duffy doing the Can Can with guests (if I'm going to make a crazy guess, might as well really go crazy)

Thank you for not mentioning..... IT.
And yes, we do seem to have some things in common, don't we!

General note to all.
Wow. I'm tired.
No... That's not what I was going to say.
Well, it's true, I'm tired, but...

Photos for the next update are done.
Starting the next chapter soon.
I suspect it will be considerably shorter (at least in word count) than the last one.

I hope I can stay in the lead. Lu might win on bonus points alone! She's obviously Ponzi's favorite!

Is the slaking my thirst comment something from World of Warcraft?

And Roni asked for a picture, so...
(don't ask me why I didn't post this before)
Awwwww - thank you! This makes me want to eat there just to get one of these!

:lovestruc

I got up, strode out of one monorail and,
without breaking stride, straight into the next.
Sounds like some mono-sashaying to me!

Once I exited SE, I headed out to start the real reason I was back here on my last day.
To take in as much of World Showcase as I possibly could!
With... NO RUSHING! And no agenda.
I was going to see whatever I felt like and skip what I didn't.
And I was going to take as much or as little time doing it.
Let the chips fall where they may!
Oh, sounds heavenly!

Now I want chips.
And dip.
Me too.... *sigh*

GORGEOUS!!!!

I'm obviously having my own issues when I make comments like:
"Cute outfits."
Seriously.......

After my hot sake,
Was it good???????

It was good, but I found the texture to be a little more grainy
than the one I had in Hawaii.
So Hawaii was the clear winner here.
Yep - the kaki gori is more like sno-cone than shave ice. :(

(Bonus points for anyone who gets that reference.)
Seriously?

For those of you who stayed for the lesson, simply say "Thanks for the lesson!"
and receive free bonus points.
Thanks for the lesson!

:tiptoe:

I sashayed like a giant
Dang!!!!!

As I'm admiring the clocks, this little boy,
about six? Eight? Years old, ducks under the rope,
runs up to the clocks and starts swinging his arm back and forth.
Sweeping the pendulums and counter-weights to and fro!
That makes me cringe!

When I was quite satiated,
(that's fancy talk for "so stuffed I thought I was gonna puke")
I waddled off towards China.
Oh, I wanted to sashay... truly I did.
:( The wish-to-sashay waddle - nothing worse. *sigh*

Okay, to be fair, I have no idea how her feet felt at the end of the day.
Maybe she's one of those women who can wear shoes like that and walk for miles
and not experience any discomfort.
Seriously. I do NOT think these women exist.

1. The obvious one. Where did I go for dinner?
Hint. I stuck to World Showcase and didn't have an ADR so did a Quick Service.

2. Do I watch Illuminations?

3. Which character do I see do something that makes me smile?
(It's a long shot, but if you guess what that something was, you get more points.)

4. How long do I wait for the bus when I head back to the hotel?
1. France - you wanted out of Mexico so sashayed past your home country to France.

2. Nope - too tired.

3. Hmmm, the princesses are usually gone later in the evening. Does Donald stay out? Why would you go back that way? Grrrrr. I'm going with Donald. He tips his sombrero!

4. 12 minutes

So beautiful that they made you fall asleep.
Okay. Interesting compliment but.... okay.

:rolleyes1

Yes, isn't that wonderful? Laughing.

____________________________________________________________________

I'll get back to them soon. But starting after midnight isn't that productive now is it?

I've been lovely to you twice this week by the way. I'm going to heaven, you're obviously not. Laughing. Wink.

I read that long post... haven't gotten around to commenting about it yet.

I do want you to. I would love to hear a male perspective. I was shocked. It was a mistake for way more reasons than sex. But I've had just about enough of female shaming. But since you said long post, maybe don't reply.

Okay, note to self typing after midnight is not good for me.

I don't understand girls.

It's meant to be unkown. popcorn::

Congratulations to the grads and to Elle. You must feel really old. Insert wink.

You must lead an interesting life.

:rolleyes2

:lmao:

Unfortunately, not interesting enough. Yet! :rotfl2: But I'm working on it.

_____________________________________________________________________

My father stalked the crap out of my mother.

He passed just after their 58th wedding anniversary. I told his grandchildren he was a stalker (they loved it!). And his reply was ----- "I was not a stalker!" "What the hell are you talking about?".

Really Dad, what were you?

Are you ready for a male perspective :sad2: ----

I wasn't a stalker, I just hid out in trees while she went on dates with another man.

A classic love story.

Stalking is totally underrated.

You think YOU'RE behind Lisa? I've fallen to 30 pages back and I can't get up. The only way I can hope for more points is if Pkondzi starts handing them out for pathetically slow reading.

Oh man, so I'm not the only one. :badpc:

(Sorry that I got great joy out of that :rotfl:)

The contest/points are killing me. I'm uber competitive but haven't even been guessing I'm so behind. So yeah bonus points for slow reading.
(Crap the competitive part of me doesn't even want them that way!).

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Hey Winnipegger! There are bikes roaming this town I'm in every single day. Roaming this town!!! It is KILLING me. Do you think I should stand with bristol board reading GIRL NEEDS RIDE! :rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

Note: This is my first "multi-quote" post, you should be flattered that I've actually learned something from this TR! (I'm such a newbie!) :worship:

It may not pay well... but that's 'frican cool!
Where do you do the open water certification dives?
Well, we dive in local lakes and quarries. Not great visibility and it is 'frican cold but it's diving, and diving is 'frican cool no matter where you do it! :cool1:

So... out of curiousity, does he hold dual citizenship?
Nope. Unfortunately they quit giving dual citizenship to children of US military members before he was born. He would have had to choose one or the other at age 18 anyway, so he probably wouldn't have chosen Germany since he left when he was 1 year old! ;)

We had that book! I don't remember if we bought it or if it was a gift from someone else.
Ummm, that book was in your photo that you said "look closely". I did, and I saw it!

Sounds like some mono-sashaying to me!
While I love the fact that you did mono-sashay, perhaps a different name would make it sound less like a disease! :rotfl:

Finally caught up. I was very far behind. I'll catch up my PTR as to where I've been.

I cannot believe you got on IASW and that Rice Krispie looks amazing!

Thanks for the lesson! (I actually do like learning behind the scenes/real facts like that. Makes Disney even cooler to me!)

1.) Dinner I think is La Cantina De San Angel cause you mentioned chip and dip as you were sashaying off to Epcot from MK.

2.) I don't think you stayed to watch Illiminations. In fact I'm going out in a limb to say you go back to MK to end your night to watch Wishes and use that PP fast pass that you mentioned "there would be time for later".

3.) Character... Thinking of the area your in... Either Donald or Duffy being awesome interacting with a child with disabilities.

4.) I think you waited 6 minutes.

Well, I guess I owe it to a love of reading, my parents...

My folks bought me a set of five books when I was little that I really loved.
Heck, if I still had them, I might still love them!
They were what I'd call slim coffee table books.
And they were fascinating!

Did reading your parents lead to your current parenting skills?

The "How and Why Wonder Books" by any chance? I had a library of them when I was a kid.

We were also told that the water temperature was 78F (26C).
Melissa, our tour guide apologized if we thought this might be too cold,
but the fish's comfort came first, divers second.

I tried.
I really tried not to laugh.

All my dive experience came from West Hawk Lake.
There, the surface temperature is about 50F-70F
(depending on weather and date) in the summer.
But there's a thermocline around the 30 foot mark
where the water temperature is about 40F (5C).
78 degrees was hot tub temp almost!
Yes, that sounds awfully warm to someone who's been swimming in the Muskoka lakes at Thanksgiving. Albeit you don't stay in very long at that time of year!

But I probably spent most (oh, about 85-90%) of my time...

Interacting with children.

:goodvibes

It was So. Much. Fun!!!

And. It. Is. So. YOU!

Bet the water was 82F when you got out just from the warm glow coming off of you and all those kids!

Awwwww - thank you! This makes me want to eat there just to get one of these!

Tell them I sent you.
You won't get any perks, since they won't remember me.
But you might get an odd look.

Sounds like some mono-sashaying to me!

Come join me and we'll stereo-sashay.

Oh, sounds heavenly!

It was so nice. No rushing to make an ADR or FP+ window or... anything.

GORGEOUS!!!!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Was it good???????

Well.... A few people have asked me that.
I'm not much of a drinker anyway.
When I do, I like my alcohol mixed in with something, usually a juice of some sort.
This was akin to drinking very hot gin or vodka. Straight.

So, no I didn't really enjoy it.
But I'm glad I tried it at least once!

Yep - the kaki gori is more like sno-cone than shave ice. :(

::yes:: That's what it tasted like.
I couldn't put my finger on it.

Because then it would freeze.

Seriously?

What? No guess?

Thanks for the lesson!

:tiptoe:

;)

:( The wish-to-sashay waddle - nothing worse. *sigh*

Not much worse than that..
Possibly the "wish-to-sashay-but-laying-on-the-couch-with-pants-top-button-undone" is worse.

Seriously. I do NOT think these women exist.

This one did.... at least for a while.
I wonder how long she lasted?

4. 12 minutes

Noted.
