Selfie Sticks??

I work in DC and see these everywhere... and HATE them. Does WDW have rules against selfie sticks? Or are they everywhere in the parks these days?

Not sure, But I just saw another thread that states a ride had to be shut down because someone tried using the selfie stick on the ride itself. It was one of the roller coasters.

I know for sure that they are banned on rides. Apparently, they are now going to ban them from the park, in general. Also, if someone is blocking your view with a selfie stick during a show, you can always get a CM to tell them to put it away. They're really good about that

We saw people using selfie sticks while we were there last week. But they are banned on rides. It would be great if they were banned entirely.

There were some attractions with signs prohibiting them. I saw a lot of people using the in other areas a couple of weeks ago.

Earlier this June, they were banned from rides but not the parks. I know specifically BTMRR has a sign that says "No selfie sticks." They were definitely in use earlier this month but I could see banning them totally in the near future. We shall see...

Somebody with more photoshop skills than me should be able to make a "No Selfie Sticks" Sign similar to this one.

Maybe something like this?

I hope they are banned completely. We were at the zoo last week and there were a lot of individuals with them and they were very intrusive. I could only imagine how annoying they would be in WDW. Plus the awesome thing about WDW is if you ask a CM or a guest almost all are more than happy to take a picture for you. And those pics come out better anyway.

I guess I am in the minority and i hope that they aren't banned. I have a selfie stick and it is really good for group pictures. I'm not the person walking around with it up in the air nor am I blocking anybodys view of anything. But to ban a selfie stick would make no sense to me. Are they going to ban people from taking selfies as well? Cuz it is almost the same thing, just that the stick has more length.

Is it really that difficult to ask a passerby to snap a photo of you & your group?

Selfie sticks are dangerous, because users typically lose sight of their surroundings, and have hit others with them (myself included). This was especially bad at the runDisney races this year.

California Screamin' was stopped in mid-ride yesterday, and remained down for about an hour, because of someone pulling out a stick during the ride. Incredible.

The nickname "narcissticks" is well-deserved.

If people didn't abuse things then we would not have to ban them. I can see how they would be nice for a family photo or group photo but there are some people who are so into documenting everything they do every minute of the day that they become unaware of their surroundings.

I never have a problem finding people who will take pictures for me. We just return the favor for them as well.
