"Don't forget a picture of the food!" Updated 8/16! A Fall TR!

I feel your pain with the dessert party. It was pouring down rain the day we did it a couple of weeks ago as well. The ground in the party was so slippery we had to be so careful walking around carrying plates and then we couldn't see well because we didn't want to stand in the rain at the railing the entire show and to top it off Tink couldn't fly. It was nice but not great. Sounds like we both were just very unimpressed. Glad you still had a good time though and used it as an opportunity to beat the bus lines back which often times is totally worth missing a little of something if you ask me especially with little ones I'm sure. Also, that's awesome how you were able to keep rolling with the bonus fastpasses. Were you able to get pretty much instant ones or did you have to wait for the time to come?

My goodness - sounds like quite the wet night - but sometimes things like that can lead to unexpected memories, like the time you had on the side street. Those are definitely an underappreciated area of MK.

That's cool you got to see Space Mountain with the lights on - is think seeing how crammed in there all the steel is makes it even scarier in som ways!

Sorry about the less than stellar time at the dessert party. We did it last trip and enjoyed it - though we didn't have the issue of all the moisture impacting the desserts. Overall I thought most of them were really solid, though none really amazeballs or anything. Sorry Tink didn't fly - one of the cool parts is how she flies in basically right over your head.

Not sure if we will do it again given the price increase, but we enjoyed doing it once

Love this one!!!

My one huge complaint though was the SOUND!! The music for the show seemed very far off and was hard to hear!! I hated that. I felt like I was truly watching from some great distance instead of it being right in front of me. I could barely hear the music, and you flat out couldn’t make out the talking. Bah-humbug.
Yeah I heard a few reports of this before our trip and it was what kept me from doing the dessert party myself.

You just never know when you are going to make memories at the MK! Even though it was wet it seems like it was a great day!

I'm sorry the dessert party wasn't everything you hoped it would be. The types of desserts they serve do seem like they would be pretty yucky in the heat. It does look like a pretty awesome view of wishes though!

 Oh Hanson!! I love you already!!! Isn't it the best combination EVER?!?!?!? HANSON AND DISNEY!!! SQUEEEE!

Yes, I'm so jealous! Hanson love runs deep.

Ugh with the rain. Seems like you made the most of it though. We've been fans of the dessert party, but feel like the quality has gone down a bit. Not that the dessert isn't good, but I feel like it used to be great. We do enjoy being able to watch the fireworks away from the hectic crowds - much calmer experience. Good thing you beat the droves out of the park!

Glad you were able to spend some time drying out your feet- wet socks/shoes are never fun!

Sorry the dessert party was disappointing :(

Awesome that you saw the lights on in SM! I got to experience that a few years ago. I'm really glad the lights are off when you are actually on the ride though. Some of those beams look awfully close.

I love that little alcove off of MS. Mom and I did the Keys to the Kingdom Tour and we spent a bit of time back in there while our guide went over some stuff.

Sorry the dessert party didn't live up to your expectations. I did it in December and had a wonderful time. The desserts were fine then probably because of the cooler weather. And I didn't notice anything with the sound, I wonder if a speaker was broken when you were there?

Totally not as cool with lights on! LOL! But we all got a good kick out of seeing it that way.

That's so scary.. we watched a youtube video with the lights on... I will NEVER put my hands up on that ride again!!!

It was pretty bad guys, I literally had to wring my socks out…yuck!

Oh No... No No.. Wet feet are a HUGE problem with me... Sorry you had to endure that one!!!

This is the best picture ever and i really HOPE you have this framed somewhere in your home... the color the clarity! Fantastic picture!!!!

We were underwhelmed with the Dessert Party as well, but it was mainly due to Chelsea getting a stomach bug and getting sick and the nearest restroom was tiny and there was a huge line and we missed most of it waiting in that tiny bathroom. We did leave before the crowds and that was really a good decision.

Didn't know that about the signing and that side street. I always see the side street, but the kids won't stop.

I am loving the updates.

Just read your whole trip report today! You have a beautiful family! I can't wait to hear more about your vacation!

Awww, thank you!! Thanks for joining in! :welcome:

I love your trip report and the pictures are wonderful!!

Thanks so much!! I am so happy when people say they are enjoying it! Makes it worth writing!! :lovestruc

What a great update! I love the pics of Maddie exploring the little side street. So precious!

I'm sorry your dessert party wasn't as great as it could have been. We sort of had the opposite problem when we went (so cold we left before wishes started). I think we both need do overs! I do love the pictures you got though. So pretty!

Did Olivia take the pic of you and Chris on the peoplemover? She did pretty good!!

I love those pics of that area too, such a pretty spot!

Haha, yup, only the price went wayyyy up, so most likely no do overs for me!! Though, my friends ALWAYS do the Epcot one and the RAVE about it!! They have a few stations that make you fresh made to order goodies! I want to try that one next time.

And Olivia did snap that, she's getting better!

Yes! I totally forgot about how slippery the ground was in the party! Youre absolutely right! Dangerous!!

The fastpasses were pretty much instant, some maybe just 15 min out or something, but all we were able to go straight to and ride if we wanted to! Some we chose to wait longer, like when we had lunch.

My goodness - sounds like quite the wet night - but sometimes things like that can lead to unexpected memories, like the time you had on the side street. Those are definitely an underappreciated area of MK.

I totally agree, you can always find something new and awesome to stumble upon in Disney, and on days like these you often find something you wouldnt have if youd stuck to your plans!

It is SUPER crammed in Space Mountain! EEK!!

I agree about that price increase, I wont be doing it again, but I mentioned to someone else that my friends always do the epcot one and the LOVE it bc it had made to order items, always fresh and hot!

Love this one!!!

Yeah I heard a few reports of this before our trip and it was what kept me from doing the dessert party myself.

I will try the epcot one probably next time, :)

I'm sorry the dessert party was more of a flop. :sad1:
That empty part of Main Street was awesome! :lovestruc

I love that pic too, playing in the rain in disney = love!!

You just never know when you are going to make memories at the MK! Even though it was wet it seems like it was a great day!

The view was just okay to me, it was no better than our usual spot... but at least I knew I didnt have to fight people for it and wait too early in advance. You kind of have a side view though, so hard to see all the castle projections clearly.

Yes, I'm so jealous! Hanson love runs deep.

Hanson :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

and YES! Yay for beating the crowds to the bus!!

Glad you were able to spend some time drying out your feet- wet socks/shoes are never fun!

Sorry the dessert party was disappointing :(

Yes wet feet are no bueno, but its okay, bc I was in Disney! LoL!! Dessert party was a bit of a flop, but I am glad we tried it, especially before the crazy price increase!

Yea, it does make you think twice about holding your hands up on space... lol..

Thats true on the weather for the dessert party, yours were probably perfect, darn humidity!!

That's so scary.. we watched a youtube video with the lights on... I will NEVER put my hands up on that ride again!!!

Oh No... No No.. Wet feet are a HUGE problem with me... Sorry you had to endure that one!!!

This is the best picture ever and i really HOPE you have this framed somewhere in your home... the color the clarity! Fantastic picture!!!!

Wow, I need to look for that video!!

Wet fit are a major problemo for me too.. we are soooo in the same boat on that one, it was awful! This happened to me TWICE!! I had to break down and by some uncomfy Disney flip flops the second time :headache:

WOW! Glad to hear you like that photo! Thats quite a compliment from YOU! I will for sure be framing it now, and I will think of you when I see it!

I am loving the updates.

Yea, that sucks on getting sick, I was extremely careful on how much desserts we ate for fear of that, walking into it sick would really stink though!!!

Glad youre loving the updates!

Pretty pictures on main street! The desserts look yummy.

Thank you!

Wow, Space with the lights on! So, so strange to see it that way. It's funny how much difference lighting makes.

Ugh, I can relate to the sopping wet feet. June 2014's trip was filled with that type of rain that leaves the streets flooded and I also had shoes and socks that were soaked completely. I think I ended up getting blisters that trip, which never happens for me. It was gross. :sad2:

Hey, we took a break on that same little side street this last trip! It's such a nice quiet place to relax and get away. :thumbsup2

Sorry the dessert party was a bit of a let down, but glad you beat the crowds out of the park!

Oh yeah wet feet are a huge NO NO.. i now carry flip flops with me.. In epcot the one day i had to buy mickey keds.. they were OK.. i should have bought socks to help break them in since they beat my feet up! LOL... but at least they were DRY!

WOW! Glad to hear you like that photo! Thats quite a compliment from YOU! I will for sure be framing it now, and I will think of you when I see it!

You should be proud that picture is seriously awesome.. aww you think of ME!!!
the commentary is a little silly but this is it:

The only thing worse than wet shoes is wet socks! Gross! That'd send me right back to my hotel room; I just hate it!

The nice rest you got sounds great. I love the little spots all around WDW where you can just chill for a bit.

Sorry the Dessert Party wasn't great. We wanted to go but the reviews were generally just ok. You'd think they'd at least play the music for that price!!

Glad you beat the crowds coming out; there is nothing like the hoards of tired folks leaving MK after Wishes.

Oh no total bummer with all the rain! It seems like you had a great time despite everything!

I love that you found such a fun little area to rest and relax!

I'm sorry that the dessert party wasn't a success. I've heard mixed reviews lately about the food and crowding. I don't think it's something I'll be doing now that the price has gone up.

Thank you! But Don't be too jealous! That trip is canceled :sad1: No Disneyland for us, we couldn't swing it this year, we only have a non-Disney trip to the Smoky Mountains planned this fall, and then WDW will be next fall is the plan!
So sorry to hear your trip is cancelled!!! Someday I hope you make it to DL!!!
