MAGIC's 2016 Westbound Transatlantic - September 17-28

Hi All. I haven't booked this cruise, but would love to! However, as a single person I would love to find someone else who might be in a similar position who might want to share a cabin to reduce costs? Not sure I'll have any takers, but if anyone knows of anyone that might be interested, give me a shout!

Normally I cruise with my kids, but they will have only been back at college a week, and don't really think its appropriate to take them out (although they are going to hate me if I find anyone to share with, as they have banned me from cruising without them!).

Good luck, hope you're joining us soon :-)

Thanks Mel, I hope so too. Kids are both desperate to come, feel a bit mean. DS has even offered to pay for himself and has the means to do so! I just don't think he should be out of college that long, although he reckoned he asked yesterday and was told it wouldn't be a problem!

I think it depends on the course type what impact it has, might be worth a chat with their college tutors! Good luck either way :-)

For those who have done this cruise before, what kind of clothes am I looking at needing? I realize there are formal nights, but what's the weather been like? I'm a former Florida girl (now living in Ohio) and September is big time hurricane season, but lower Atlantic usually with Gulf of Mexico storms. Not sure how the more northern trip weather would be. I know here in Ohio in September I sometimes need a sweater or light jacket in the morning but by noon t-shirts or lightweight knit tops are fine. Is it sort of the same on the WBTA?

Just booked our cabin on this cruise and was added to the FB group. So excited even though it's over a year away. This will be our 4th cruise and first on the Magic and will mean we have been on all 4 ships. :figment:Our cabin is 7616 so feel free to add Mike and Tracy to the roll call.

Yeah booked our 7th Disney cruise and this will be our 3rd TA and delighted we got a sideways room. Been an ambition of mine to sail into New York.
Hi from Tracy and Mike from Scotland ttxx

Just saying hello
Heavily considering this cruise.
But I have questions
Do most transatlantic cruisers go early to Spain spend some time. Do you do the cruise before to get more ports in ?

Weather ? I'm a Floridian. Am I going to be cold ?

This will be our first transatlantic and I have never been to Barcelona. My husband has. Right now we are planning on flying in from Boston the day before. It will be an overnight flight with a stop in Dublin (as long as things stay the same with airlines that is). We check in the following morning and plan on taking a nap. That afternoon we go sightseeing and then grab a dinner somewhere. Grab a taxi the next morning to the port and off we go. Just from the initial research we've done we have picked out Hotel 1898 but not sure if we are sticking with that one. I'd love to find one that has shuttle service to the port but I think I might be wishing for too much.

My husband and I are planning to visit Morocco before the cruise. We would be so grateful if anyone could recommend some places to stay/avoid and ways to travel up to Barcelona. - Thank you =)

Welcome :welcome:to all!
Debbie will be thrilled for the Tracy & Mikes - she's a New Englander with Scottish blood:-)

That sounds like the plan I have as well. Even the layover in Dublin. Haven't picked out a hotel yet. I have been trying to brush up on my Spanish so I can clearly direct the taxi to the port (and find the bathroom - very important things).

No need to create groups/documents outside of this thread, everyone! Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine still managing meet and Fish Extender (FE) discussions right here on The DIS as they have since FE began (also here on The DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM.

Unfortunately, posts have been removed from a number of Cruise Meets threads including this one.

PLEASE review the Cruise Meet Policy regarding Cruise Meet and Fish Extender programs. - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3353477

Links to Cruise Meet discussion/Fish Extenders other than those on the DIS may not be posted, offered or discussed by any other means (PM, email, "search" directions, here on the Cruise Line forum, etc.).

For those posting in this Cruise Meet thread to join a FE, if no one comes forward to organize a FE for this cruise, anyone can organize the FE right in this thread.

DISboards Fish-Extender Basics

Enjoy!

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Weather in Barcelona will be toasty hot, just about to fly there on Sunday for a Med cruise with NCL, so you will be fine. While I gave done 2 other TA's and weather was amazing and seas calm.
No matter when and where we cruise we always go early ttxx

Taxis will be your best bet in Barcelona as the port is not far at all from the centre ttxx
