Dining rotation on 7 night Alaska Wonder

I have the menu from the DVC Member Cruise, but please note, there was one entree per menu that was customized for our particular cruise. You'll see where it's description mentions the DVC Member Cruise. Obviously that will change on the regular menu, either just the description, or the entire entree itself, I don't know.

Currently on the wonder and can confirm this is the menu order. Golden Mickey's menu was dumped.

UGH! I wasn't really in love with GM menu EXCEPT the sangria bisque....which was my favorite item on the menu all week & I was really looking forward to it again. C'est la vie, eh?

Also, to answer earlier questions, we had the PTAPTAP rotation. Nights 1-3 were the restaurant specific menus, night 4 was Frozen, night 5 was Lobster, night 6 was Taste of Alaska (we missed b/c we went to Palo), and night 7 was See You Again.

A few comments:

- this was our first Palo visit since our first cruise in 2008. We didn't really enjoy it then (bad waiter), so we had not done it in awhile. This was DW's first trip as Platinum, so we had a free meal there so we tried it again. Once again, I don't get what the fuss is about. I do not think that we would pay $30 a piece to eat there...

- DVC did a nice job with the cruise. Gifts were great and the screening of Inside/Out, the talk by Jim Murphy of Pixar on how he made LAVA, and especially the Broadway and Beyond shows were fantastic.

- that being said, I would have liked a baseball cap :-)

- the buffet on the Wonder is severely lacking compared to the other 3 ships

- that being said, the Wonder is in great shape.

- Weather could not have been better

- Hampton Inn in Vancouver was an excellent place to stay pre-cruise. They have free breakfast and a free shuttle to the port.

We are staying at the Hampton Inn in 2 weeks. Do you recommend any restaurants nearby the hotel? Also, how did you get to various places around Vancouver? Were there ample taxis near by? Thanks! :)

Thanks for the updates especially the dining order and menus. I'm staying at the Hampton Inn as well. Glad to hear it was a good choice.

Frozen will be night 4, which is currently standard rotation. It would make the most sense to drop the Golden Mickeys, so the first 3 nights are the 3 rotational. Then the 4 "special" menus. Besides, from the menus I've seen online, the "Golden Mickeys" doesn't really look like much of a theme for a menu. How is swordfish or turkey matching a Golden Mickey theme?

Doubt they would drop "Taste of Alaska" as that is much more tied into the unique nature of the cruise. Doubt they would drop "Till We Meet Again" -- because a big last meal is really the theme on all their cruises. (Though, they *could* combine it with Taste of Alaska).
Also doubt they would drop the Toy Story, as that is really a heavily themed menu.

Your speculation is correct!:thumbsup2

Day 1 - Rotational Menu
Day 2 - Rotational Menu
Day 3 - Rotational Menu
Day 4 - Frozen Menu
Day 5 - Toy Story Menu
Day 6 - Taste of Alaska Menu
Day 7 - 'Til We Meet Again Menu

so if one had to miss a night for palo, which one should i skip? i would like to make the special dinner at animators' palate for sure, don't know about the others.

Was formal night still on Day 2? and was that still the Golden Mickey's show?

I Would suggest looking at the menus for the non rotational menus and see which one you might not like as much. I've looked at the taste of Alaska menu and it didn't appeal to me at all!

Not that I'm doing Palo for dinner, but can't help but wonder if the rotation schedule will push demand for Palo later in the week. When we had Golden Mickeys you got all the way to night 5 before you were out of standard rotational dining. While only one day longer, on a 7 night cruise its the best part of the week.

I'd love to help, but we took the Amtrak Cascades up from Seattle and did not get into Vancouver until about 11:00 Sunday night, so I didn't see too much. I did go out the next morning to the IGA and Liquor Store down Robson St (Hotel is on Robson) and there seemed to be plenty of options.

For all those Alaskan adventurers returning, was the animators show on your first or second visit to the restaurant? Just wondering if it was done as part of the standard rotations menus or done on one of the themed menus?

My least favorite was the Toy Story menu, but that's just personal taste. I'd look at the menus online and see what appeals to you most and least.

Yes

I missed the first night in AP, but did go to the second night and there was no show on the second night. I can only assume it must have been on the first night.

The show in Animator's Palate is usually the first night you are in there (rotational menu). The second time, there's no show.
