Wonder Returns to Galveston - November 6, 2015

Just have to say, we sure are a quiet bunch. Hopefully we get more active in the coming months:confused3
Very true, although the Nov 13th cruise after this one is even quieter.

Does everyone know what they are doing for excursions? We're considering the Segway tour in Cozumel, the caves and bats in Falmouth, and the turtle farm in Grand Caymen.

One more thing, we're looking to make some school supplies donations in Cozumel, through the following organization http://www.cozumelchrysalisgroup.org/ is anyone interested in joining us?

We are still debating what to do as the only new stop for us is Falmouth. They are leaning towards a private tour there, glass bottom boat sub thing in Cozumel and a chocolate tour in Cozumel? I am taking the older set with me and they are claustrophobic and not able to do much walking so it limits our options.
I had read somewhere about doing school supply donations, but wasn't sure how that worked. Do you bring a box of supplies with you? I could see doing it if it didn't get to heavy and take up a lot of luggage space since I am flying in and that could be an issue.

I'm still researching the donations, I'll keep the thread up to date on what I find, in case anyone wants to participate.

All three ports are new to us. Our original itinerary in 2013 out of Galveston was supposed to have Cozumel, Grand Caymen, Costa Maya, but then they changed it to be Castaway Cay, WDW, and Key West, so we haven't made it to these ports yet. We're really excited to have 3 new ports for us. Here's our sailaway party - can't wait to be back onboard again!

So, do you think we're going to have a pirate night on our cruise? I'm asking because when I look at the cruise activities on the pre-arrival guide on the cruise after this one, they have pirate night scheduled for 4th cruise day. When I look at the cruise activities on the pre-arrival guide for this cruise there's is nothing planned. :confused3

I can't imagine that they wouldn't. Maybe on the first of the 2 sea days coming back? I can see where they wouldn't do it on a port day, and our cruise has 3 stops in a row. I am more excited that they are going to start decorating the ship for Christmas while we are on board!

Oh good, I really hope so! My kids really missed pirate night on our Alaska cruise. I'm with you, I'm SO excited for the holiday decorations! We've never been on a ship during a holiday. One of these days we're going to have to try to experience the Halloween decorations also.

OK so our cruise will be decorated for Christmas? Pirate party may not happen?

Can anyone recommend anything to do at the islands for it being my first time on a cruise.

Holiday decorations are a possibility. Unfortunately looking at the DCL site it still say's TBD. Last year's schedule follows, so it's possible.

Very MerryTime Cruises Sail Dates

Ship Sail Dates
Disney Magic November 9, 2014 - December 28, 2014
Disney Wonder November 9, 2014 - December 30, 2014
Disney Dream November 10, 2014 - December 29, 2014
Disney Fantasy November 8, 2014 - December 27, 2014

I'm sorry, I can't make any recommendations as this is our first time at each of these ports.

I read somewhere that our cruise is the start of the holiday decorating, but the gingerbread house may not be done by the end of our cruise. Based on how many supplies they use, I can only imagine. I did a Halloween cruise last year, and I like the Christmas decorations better. Nicole1234, we could make recommendations, but it would be based on what we have enjoyed. Are you interested in Mayan ruins, swimming with dolphins, just shopping and general sightseeing? Don't count out the Pirate night yet, I would be surprised if we don't get our fireworks at sea.

Oops I totally spaced that DD will be 13 by the cruise. Thanks!

I was doing some research on excursions yesterday and found out that a lot of the typical places are usually closed on Sunday in Cozumel. E.g.,, Mr. Sanchos, Nachi Cocum, Playa Mia, Chankanaab. It will be interesting to see what is offered by DCL for excursions, as I couldn't book any of these on their websites due to them being closed. Someone that was on the WBPC that stopped in Cozumel on a Sunday said the same thing, basically a lot of places closed. There aren't usually any cruise ships in port that day, and according to the port calendar, we will be the only one. I think it might be nice to have a quieter stop, but it may put some of the usual excursions in jeopardy.

I did a search on the internet and it looks like the east side(?) will have stuff open as that is where the locals go. Not really sure what is on the east side though.

There are some restaurants and bars on the east side and that's where the public areas/beaches are so the locals go there on Sunday. It's actually beautiful over there. They don't have electricity and the shoreline is very rocky (think lava rock type formation). The beaches with sand are pretty small and obviously that side isn't anywhere near as developed.
