Tickets from Undercover Tourist...whats the catch? Can you link to MDE, link to MBs?

We are DVC and AP. Our family is coming with us on vacation and we have the honor of booking/planning the entire trip for them. We have never even purchased tickets since we just get APs. So my question is about UT. I see their prices are lower for the tickets offered when I look under MDE.

Is it EASIER or better for any reason to buy tix directly from Disney over UT?
Are there any benefits other than saving money?
Can you link UT tickets to MDE? and how?
How long do they take to come in?
Will I have any problem with the 3 of my familys APs and the 3 UT tickets under one MDE, and making FP selections?

Thanks to anyone who can offer info!

Would like to see the answers as well. I know you can link them to your MDE but would like someone to explain exactly how to go about doing that..

You can absolutely link them to MDE. They are real and valid tickets form a reputable re-seller. You'll just enter the ticket numbers into your MDE account and assign them to one of your party. The reason to buy from Disney is if you are booking a package, which you need to do for certain deals (free dining for example). I have actually only ordered Universal tickets through them, but they came in about a week. The package must be signed for though, so be aware of that.

Its a little cheaper through UT.

No other benefits. You need to have them in hand to link to the MDE. With Disney you get the confirmation email and you can link them right away.

Nope they are regular Disney tickets and are treated no different them the ones you buy from Disney

In the early days of FP+ there were issues linking them but that has since been fixed.. I was one of those who had the issues and to me all the hassle and waiting to link them just wasn't worth the little I saved. We were at the mercy of the Disney IT department to fix the problem and it took like a month. Again those issue have since been corrected.

UT can do e-tickets now, so no need to have ticket "in hand" . Must be new in the last couple months. I stay offsite and pretty much always get tickets through them . No catch, the ticket codes linked to my MDE (and my magic bands) without an issue

1. No.
2. No. They are exactly the same as tickets bought directly from Disney, just cheaper.
3. Yes. you just enter the ticket number into the MDE account.
4. It depends on the shipping method you choose. I chose free shipping and had them in less than a week.
5. No.

I bought my no-expiration tickets with them .. linked the tickets right to MDE and had no issues.

No catch . .

I have used both UT and The Official Ticket Center. Usually UT has the lowest price but not always. The only downside I can think of is that it MAY be more of a hassel to get refunds for unused tickets (I don't really know since my tickets has never gone unused 8> ).

But I got the reduced price and multiple increases have occurred since I purchased

That would be true of anywhere you buy tickets, including directly from Disney.

I'm not sure of what you're trying to say that is specific to UT about being able to buy tickets and hold them for future use.
That's true of all Magic Your Way tickets, regardless of from which authorized seller you buy them.

Very true...and an even easier way (if you have a smartphone) is using the MDE app on your phone. You can scan the tickets' bar codes, instead of having to enter the ticket number manually.

(entering the number manually can also cause a problem if you enter the letter O instead of a zero--the number has zeroes but no O's)

Thanks everyone. So just to be clear, If I order them today and have them delivered electronically today for our October trip, they wouldnt become "active" until they actually scan their magic band in November, right?

Also! Are you able to add on a day once they are in use? For example, if we purchase a 7 day ticket and want to add on an 8th day, can you do that with UT tickets?

If you purchase a package with tickets, then you can change your tickets in advance.
If you purchase tickets only, whether from Disney or Undercover Tourist, you can only upgrade (not downgrade) tickets, and you can only do that in person.

I priced a 6 day base ticket at AAA yesterday and it is 0.95$ cheaper than UT. And I don't have to worry about shipping.

Bought tickets from UT every trip except this upcoming one. No problems linking them to MDE. Added a 7th day a few years ago with no problem at customer service at one of the parks.

We bought from Official Ticket Center this time because they were actual CHEAPER for the 10 day hopper with waterpark...though I *think* this is the only ticket that is cheaper through OTC.

You said "[o]ne advantage to UT tickets" and then etc. Saying "[o]ne advantage to UT tickets" pretty much says "and not when buying elsewhere". Because the sentence could easily be "the advantage to buying WDW tickets from anyone" is that you can hold on to them for the future. That's why it was not as clear as perhaps you thought?

I have bought from Undercover Tourist the last several times, and it just works. You save a little, and you can link it with MDE. I opted to have UT email me the tickets, then I went into MDE, and linked it. The whole process was done in like 30 minutes

Just bought UT tickets. We chose the e-ticket option, and I received them within 5 minutes of ordering. I went into MDE and entered my reservation number. Voila ... all tickets immediately appeared, and I could make FP+ reservations if I wished. The site said it could take up to 72 hours to receive tickets via e-mail so I was surprised it was so fast. The only possible downside is that the e-tickets are non-refundable.

This is true, and a distinction I have often pointed out before.

BUT, to be clear, ANY ticket bought from UT (even the kind that is a plastic card, delivered to your house) becomes non-refundable as soon as you link it to your MDE account.

And, since linking to MDE is what nearly everybody does when they get their UT tickets, the distinction with the e-Tickets becomes virtually moot.
