Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Information & Questions

I created a thread in Restaurants board but thought I'd get a faster answer here...

At The Mara, is the oatmeal ($3.99) a large portion, and are there any toppings to add to it like raisins or nuts?

Also, does the kid's breakfast platter come with a small beverage or just the eggs/bacon/grapes? Is the portion of eggs equivalent to about 2 eggs do you think?
on the meal plan it does, but I don't think otherwise...Someone else may know 4 sure...:confused3

Can all guests at AKL use the pools at Kidani and Jambo?
Yes , absolutely....And BTW, they both are so different, but equally awesome....

Jambo is on a larger scale, very grand and spread out & It has a section w/ zero entry. It's has a pool bar, and also The Mara & Boma, & Jiko are right there. As well as the arcade. The Pool slide is on the smallish side though..

Kidani on the other hand is a scaled down a bit...Not on a bad side, just more quaint....This also has a zero entry section, & a pool bar too. But this has a much larger slide, and also has a separate water play area too.

:thumbsup2
Not sure how old your kids are, but just keep in mind that, it's a waay different setup than any other resort's main pool.

Sight lines from the lounge chairs are a lilblocked, because the pool is sort of divided into sections..
Also the lazy river's current is a lil stronger than the norm. and it is at least 8 ft in these sections *(not the typical 3 ft.) So it's hard to get back into the tube, if horsing/playing around. * my kids were 10 when we went, and very good swimmers, and I was a nervous wreck, trying to keep an eye on them..:scared:

Also the Water slide set up is weird IMHO too. You actually have to leave the grounds, go across the common path ( around the LAKE ), then up the stairs to the entrance to the slide.... Weird if you ask me....Don't get me wrong, the place is gorgeous, with soo many things to do there, but as a parent, I couldn't sit back and relax....:confused3

Either way ,have fun..:jumping1:
Thanks for the thoughts on the pool at BC. My DH and I are actually always in the pool with the kids. Think we like the water almost as much as they do. Lol. We don't sit out very often, but I will definitely keep that in mind when we are there.

Thanks for the quick response. I was hoping we could also use the Kidani pool as hotel guests (not DVC).

Unfortunately, we need to remove ourselves from the list. We were able to save $1900 switching to CBR that became available. This will be our first time at a mod, but are excited! hoping to rent points for AKL in May 2016!

I'm glad to have a definite answer on this. The Kidani pool sounds more appealing--my youngest would do better with the splash area, and my oldest likes an exciting slide, so that would be the best option. Thanks for the info!

Please add us to the list! We will be at AKL Jambo from June 19-27. Can't wait, we just received our magic bands today:yay:

I just can't seem to stay away from AKL! We had booked POP for this next trip but at the last minute decided to upgrade. We will be there in just 3 days! And the best part is that the kids don't know yet.

How awesome...WHAT A surprise that'll be. Have a great trip.

NP. To be honest, not that people are doing this, but I know your not allowed to pool hop at some of the resorts. AKL/V being one of them, but it's not anywhere near like Fort Knox * (Like SAB ) is......You didn't hear that from me though..LoL:rolleyes1

Just keep in mind, This was with me in the pool too..LoL Wife on the sidelines...Either way have a great time.

If i'm taking the bus at Magic Kindgom or Animal Kingdom to AKL, which is the first stop? Jambo house or Kidani village? I plan on having dinner at Sanaa and would really like to stop directly at Kidani.

So excited ... we just changed plans and are doing a split stay between Poly and AKL. We will be at AKL (pool view) August 16-20.

DH has opted to sit out on this trip...so I'm surprising DD (9) and DS (5) with a week stay at AKL!!! We will be there August 5-12! We got the bunk bed pool room! DD and I did a girl's trip last year and stayed here and LOVED it!! We had a standard room...but still were able to see animals all the time outside of our room! Woke up to Giraffes every morning! I know DS is going to LOVE this hotel!!

I'm just wondering... can you see zebras from any of the savanna view rooms at Kidani?
YES! Many of the savanna view rooms face Sunset savanna which typically has a small herd of zebras. Pembe savanna is the other savanna view at Kidani and didn't used to have zebras, although last January they were using part of it for a couple of zebras in the breeding program, don't know if they are still there, tho'. Ask for Sunset savanna view.

Tonight I pick my fastpass selections! This is our first trip with the new system and I am a little overwhelmed to say the least. I am so excited to be staying at this beautiful resort!!

We have changed our dates. We are now staying August 2-10 @ AKL CL and August 10-13 @ BC. So excited for such a long trip for us.
