hi there!
was wondering if you could hear the noise from the horns from your room? we requested Moorea for our stay in August for ourselves and my in-laws so i am a little worried. Thanks!!

Yes- the first night it woke me up around 5am (though hubby and kids weren't bothered by it one bit). The second night of our stay I no longer noticed it (maybe because I was exhausted at that point, or maybe it grew on me a bit)

Hi everyone

I know the waterfall in the lobby was removed.

What about the water areas in the front, right outside the lobby?

The bungalows closest to the Polynesian dock were constructed with soundproofing due to the resort launch horns. I don't think the ones on the other end closer to the ferry would have that, neither would Moores, because I don't think the ferry blows a horn near there.

We love the sound of the resort launch horns, they aren't loud and obnoxious, they are just great background noise. (Though I do think the first couple bungalows would be too close to the Poly dock to call it background noise).

Are these horns heard from all rooms or just certain areas?
You won't hear the from every longhouse, and only some of them would it even be identifiable. You will hear the resort launch horns from Hawaii lagoon side, and probably Samoa (pool side) and also at Moorea lagoon side (but not loud). If there is a ferry horn, you will hear that at Moorea, because it's right by the TTC ferry dock, but I don't recall it when we stayed there.

I can't recall the name of the longhouse by the marina, but you will hear it there too on the lagoon side.

It's really not that loud, and shouldn't bother you much unless you are a light sleeper and park opening is early enough that you are asleep (or you go to bed before the last launch). Honestly, we never notice it unless we are awake and sitting out on the balcony enjoying it. For us, it's one of those sounds that takes us right back to vacation, and it's a good sound to us. YMMV

Does anyone know if we ask for a late check out what time it is, 12:00 or 1:00? We did this last year but I can't recall when he needed to be out of the room?

Thanks!!

We've only asked once - and it was almost 10 years ago - but we were given until 1pm.

72 days till we arrive! Our first Poly stay. We are standard view, but, even looking at the map someone posted earlier with the cross hatches of where fences are, it doesn't look like Niue would be that bad of a choice. We really don't want to be on the other side of the lagoon.

Thoughts?

OK, so I checked my pictures and it looks like the top of the hill at Sunset Point is high enough for a decent view of the fireworks. The best view would be from the beach near the main pool, the 3rd floor of the north facing buildings or the Bungalows

Oh thats great! The grass might be comfier, but I definitely would prefer to hear the music too, so beach it is! :) Thank you!

I might have to ask for a late checkout myself.. not sure when flights will be (they're being booked for us and we don't have a say) so it is great to know that is an option! :shamrock:

We just changed our plans and are doing a split stay, starting with the Poly and finishing with AKL. We will be at the Poly August 12-16. Our whole family is very excited about staying here during our first visit to WDW.

A split stay is great, 2 different environments. Have a great trip!

By the way...... did my online check in, got my Magic Bands in advance, had my CC on file and took care of my room assignment 2 days before arriving. We went straight to the room from the valet station. AWESOME!!!!!

How long does it usually take to get from MCO to Poly using DME? Land at 11:55am on a Wednesday and made 2pm lunch ressies at Kona Cafe. Should that work?

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I read somewhere that reservations at Kona Cafe are fairly easy to get as a walk in. Can anyone confirm?
