We've stayed many times at YC and I don't think we've ever waited more than 15 - 20 minutes for a MK bus. The buses stop at YC first then go to the BC. Either of the other strategies you list would take a considerable amount of time. It's a pretty long hike (and HOT this time of year) through Epcot and you would need park hopper passes to go through there and then to MK.

Thanks, Outahere, that's what I thought, but it seemed like some posters had different experiences with the MK bus...

Our last trip to BC was Dec 2012, and I do remember waiting for awhile for some buses, but don't remember which ones, thought that it was the Downtown ones, but I could be wrong.

This past December I stayed at Coronado Springs (never again!) and did wait for about 30-40 minutes once for a MK bus....but that was unusual...

From our experience, there are VERY few DTD buses to/from all the resorts.

It's very possible we just had bad luck with catching buses, but we waited more than 20 minutes for an Mk bus more than once on our trip. We didn't have it nearly as bad with the dtd buses, but I know others have so it may very well be that we just had bad timing.

Crossing our figures we did the right thing, we just changed our ressies to BC, we have never stayed here. We have a somewhat room disability question to see if we made the right room catagory request. They had standard, garden and water view rooms available, so we can change. We have three disabilities but the most important one is for legally blind very low vision, she needs a room with lots of light so we want a corner room. When we looked at the maps we see standard view has three on each floor, garden few has two on each floor, and water view has more but most of them are one or two bedrooms, actually I don't see any that are not. So we went with standard for the best option, which does not seem right to me, am I missing something usually the corner rooms have more garden views, but maybe it is the layout of the hotel and the fact that a lot of corner rooms are suites. Can anyone give me an idea if we should change it to a different view. Mom says she would rather be able to pick out her colors and see in the morning and look like a "princess" and not a clown, and she is right not a one of us will tell her she looks funny, we love to laugh at her when people make remarks.

Mom and dad are getting married again, on the same day they got married 30 years ago, seperated the same day 25 years ago, divorced the same day 20 years ago. Remarried the same day 15 years ago, seperated the same day 10 years ago. Divorced the same day 5 years ago. And now on sept 6 the same day they will try again and marry again. I call it there 5 year itch, they call it the best and worse day of there life. Anyway, second question, me and sister are trying to see if we can get a suite, but right now one is not open at this resort even if we come up with the money, but if we can would it be worth it, or do you think since it holds the same amount of people it is not worth it. If not it is much cheaper and we can stay a night or two at a value or moderate hotel, under military. Do you see any problem with this if we are on a package deal, for us to continue with the same tickets and same FD but to add a room for a night or two at a different hotel to allow them space when they get married.

One other question, has anyone ever added club level when you get to hotel and how much is that usually when you get to hotel?

High DG24. Your parents have a uniquely interesting love story!

Free dining will be quick service from a value resort. Other than that, I have no other advice.

Can you give a link to the room stats and map that you were referencing?

Can't remember now which group (not a DIS forum!) I was on where this topic had a VERY heated discussion...many/most felt the same way you do (and I do too!!) but some (a very vocal minority) felt that it was somehow the parents' fault that they were in that position, as they should have (a) left earlier before the kids got so tired, (b) made their kid(s) stand the same as everyone else, or (c) not come at all if their kids weren't old enough to stand - these same people felt the same way about older guests as well as pregnant women, and I won't even go into their feelings about wheelchairs!

Pretty selfish if you ask me....someday they may end up in the same situation. Karma is a b*tch! :rolleyes1

Although I would have given up my seat for this man, I tend to agree with the other side of this debate. I would not go to WDW while pregnant or with a child that was in diapers or needed a stroller. The hardship would not be like a fun vacation to me and the kids would not even remember being there to feel the magic. I would not expect someone else to willingly let me impose on them. The heart of this issue is the packed buses that Disney is offering as a convenience. I can't handle a packed bus, standing, for three resort stops on the way back after a long, hot day of an over crowded park where we stand in long lines. I may use Uber for MK days to avoid this convenience.

If (and that's a pretty big if) there are any CL rooms available, they are typically at least 25 - 30% more than non-CL rooms, even with a discount. If you try to do it when you check in, you would most likely end up paying rack rate - no discount. Just an example - a standard view room (roof or parking lot) at the YC is listed as $413 per night on 5/25 (today) and a standard view CL room is $613. Pretty hefty increase in my opinion.

We just got home yesterday and had no bus issues at all. We had a 20 min wait during the MK 24 hour party getting back to the resort. The other two times to MK and DTD were less than 10 minutes. We waited for 20 min for the bus from AK too, both times we were first in line so assumed we just missed the bus!

Unfortunately, they were unable to walk into Epcot and bring me back a Grey Goose Slushie ...

Wait a minute, I think you have come up with a new career plan for someone. For example, I buy an Annual Pass. I hang out at Hurricane Hannahs, which means I am outside the SAB borders and don't have to be staying at YC/BC/BCV. You walk up to me and place your drink order from Epcot. I walk over to Epcot, order your drink, pour it into a closed container, and deliver it to you.

We have three disabilities but the most important one is for legally blind very low vision, she needs a room with lots of light... Not sure if you are planning to book online or by phone. If it were me, I would call and tell them to add to the reservation: legally blind, need room with a lot of daylight. Then I would call back at some point to make sure that info was in the computer. Sometimes they tell you they are putting it in, but when you call back it's not there. Maybe they didn't put it in, maybe they put it in and it mysteriously disappeared, who knows. My thought is that you are more likely to get what you want if the room assigner knows why you want it.

Just brought my DS to Logan this morning. He entered the Army almost one year ago and went through Basic, Officer Candidate School, and Military Police trainings. His short leave ended today and is now enroute to his first set of orders in South Korea where he will be for the next year.

I'm very sad but very proud. Thanks for letting me go off topic BC/YC friends!

Thank him for his service. Nine years US Navy here and DH almost six years.

To clarify a few things. One we are 5 of us going together, on the FD package. When I asked about switching me and sis and niece to a different hotel room for a night, I figured we would just gat a room somewhere else for one night and then come back, I'm i assuming wrong that we could still use the same magic band for food and tickets since we won't rebuy them, we would just get a room at a value to give mom and dad space for one night.

Also from the remarks it does not sound like DL where you can add cl to your room, even if not on cl floor, we have done this before, at DL and it usually is like $50, we have never gone WDW cl so I didn't know it was very unlikely. Thanks for info. Probably why I could not find it anywhere.

The Disney Law of Buses...
The bus to your desired park will always be the one that just left. <grin>

DH and I have awful bus luck, and 9/10 times that law seems to apply. That's one reason we love BC so much. We walk directly to Epcot and DHS, and walk through Epcot and take the monorail to MK. We only have to trust our bus luck for AK, maybe DTD if we go. Walking isn't the fastest, but it always seems to be faster for us than waiting forever for the next bus (or boat).

So I'm thinking I missed the discussion of taking the bus to Magic Kingdom. Apparently these buses are few are far between (?) Is this just at some times of the year, or is it all the time? Is there a better strategy got going to MK, like walking/boating to HS and taking the bus from there (unless of course it's EMH at MK and HS service wouldn't be running yet)? The same would be true for walking through the International Gateway to the front of EPCOT to catch the monorail....just what does everyone do to get to MK as quickly as possible?

We have waited up to 40-45 minutes for a bus to MK, but that happened once (at BC). Another time may have been 30 minutes'(at YC) but other than that it seemed like average wait was 15-25 minutes. However, I would rather be on the move then just sitting at a bus stop so DH and I have walked through Epcot and taken the monorail to the TTC then either the monorail or ferry to MK. This could not possibly save us anytime even we had to wait an hour for the bus at YC/BC, but it FEELS better to me than waiting AND it gives us an excuse to stop at the Mexico QSR and get nachos and cheese empanadas if we feel like it :cool1: (we always have park hoppers). But even if we don't stop for food, it is just DH and I - we can walk at a pretty brisk pace. Not sure I would attempt this with children who would walk more slowly or be distracted and want to stop to do stuff in Epcot when your goal is MK!:confused3

Here's the recipe I have:

1 oz Malibu coconut Rum
1 oz Midori
1oz Orange juice
1oz Pineapple juice
.05 oz Curacao
Splash of Sprite

Instructions

Fill tumbler with ice and pour in the Rum and Midori, OJ, Pineapple Juice, Sprite and stir.

Top with sprite and float .5 oz of Blue Curacao on top.
Where do they serve it at BC? Thanks!! Looks/sounds fantastic

Yes, unless you take a taxi. I'd say 20 minutes to walk from BC to EPCOT main gate. Maybe longer, we walk very fast. Then time to get monorail, transfer and monorail. You're looking at 60 minutes.
Would your take that route rather than the bus to mk & monorail?

108 days.. That means 18 days from 90!!!!! 90 days is 30 days til 60!!!! Sorry, I am just so excited I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!
We are at 109...the thing with a fall trip is I refuse to wish the summer away no matter how excited I am for Disney! I can't rush into 3rd grade and pre-k I'm just not ready for that :) so it's good and bad like most things in life. But I am seriously looking forward to it!
