Thanks, RRB, for your live updates. The view of the EWP from your bungalow is awesome! Are you hearing any rumblings of when the quiet pool will be closing?
We are waiting for the EWP to start as I write this post. It is 8:58 and I see it coming around to corner. I asked about the Quiet Pool closure, but nobody knows for sure (or they would't say)

Aloha everyone! I'm planning a trip for October 2016 and am so excited! I want to stay in the Magic Kingdom area. The 2 resorts that appeal to me are the Poly and WL. It will be my DH and 2 kids 5 and 8.

We live on Maui, HI. Would it be weird to to travel all the way from HI. and stay at the Poly, lol?

Aloha! Maui sounds WONDERFUL.. We did Aulani last May, but didn't make it to Maui unfortunately...next trip, maybe in 3 years to celebrate youngest DS college graduation!:goodvibesOctober will be a GREAT time of year to visit WDW, imo! Will be also nice to have Epcot Food and Wine that time of year! Have been to WL and I think it is lovely, but Poly is on the monorail,(so convenient) so that would be my recommendation for a first visit! From what I hear, prepare to be SPOILED! :cheer2:

Thanks RRB for the info and pictures..... after some major soul searching (and spreadsheet making :rolleyes1) last night we decided to switch to the Beach Club. Our goal for this trip was to spend quite a bit of time at the resort and pool and do less park time. With the construction going on (and the fact that SAB is known as being such an amazing pool,) Beach Club had the slight edge. I'm sort of bummed, but that just means Poly next year! Thanks all for the info!! Enjoy your trips!

Okay online check in question. I originally chose Niue and patio for my online check in request. Now that I've looked at where the construction fences are at I want to switch my request to Aoetearoa/balcony. We arrive in 15 days. I made the modifications to my online check in but now when I look at it it shows all 4 requests to check mark. Did I miss the deadline to switch before room assignments or does it just take awhile for the 1st two requests to drop off?

I know this has been asked/answered already, but I can't seem to find it…sorry!

If we booked through an agent, can we make our own requests for a room? I've asked my TA to change ours twice already and I feel bad asking her to do it a third, I feel bad bugging her again. After looking at touring plans though, I have specific requests I'd like to take a chance on :) had no idea about seeing the room views…very cool.

Also, is there a text box in the on-line check in option for such requests, I can't remember from the past…

:thanks: and sorry for the repeat question…..

Is there a more popular check-in/check-out day? We're checking in on a Sat...

I'm getting very excited!!!

We stayed at WL on our first Disney trip, so I'm partial to that. We're anxiously waiting to arrive to the Poly (in a good way). It was out of our price range for trip #1. Out of pure luck we stayed at the GF last year and probably won't again (not our taste). We loved the WL! It was nice and compact for being first timers, but the monorail wasn't a top priority for us. I had stayed at the CBR as a kid and all I knew were buses! After staying at the GF last year, we're sold on monorail resorts now.

I'm not sure about the requests, but rooms are not assigned until about 3 days before arrival. I always call 4-5 days in advance to make sure they have my requests correct, and add anything not available during online check in. I'd recommend doing that just to be safe.

For those who have stayed recently - we are there next week. My friend who lives in Olrando is going to watch our kids (7 and 2) one night while DH and I have a nice dinner and adult park time - will she be able to take the kids down to the pool with my son's magic band or no since she is not a guest even though we are?

Your TA must make any requests.

No free form text boxes, either.

Your best bet would be to by-pass online check in and speak to a CM about your requests once you arrive. The earlier in the day, the better your chances (though you may need to wait for that room type to be ready). Also, if you are willing to move rooms mid-trip to get what you want, let them know that as well.

Good luck!!

We requested 6, 7 or 8. Those 3 are on the point and furthest out into the water.

1-5 have a great view of the GF, MK and west side of the Poly but not so much of the east side of the Seven Seas Lagoon
6 has a great view of the GF, MK and CR/east side of the SSL
7 has the best views as it is on the tip of the point
8-20 have great views of the MK, CR and the east side of the SSL

Now that I have stayed here, 6 or 7 are be the best (for us). There are other considerations such as distance to the Main Building and distance to the TTC that are a consideration. I will take a video from our balcony and post it with the room report.
RRB, this is a weird question, lol, but how well can you see into the Hawaii building rooms from the bungalows? We always stay on the third floor and like to leave our curtains open as much as possible. That was fine before the bungalows, obviously, and we've stayed a few times while they were under construction. Just wondering if you felt like you could see into the Hawaii rooms. (And no, we aren't walking around naked with the curtains open or anything, lol!)

Not a weird question at all. Here's the answer... there is only one window in the Bungalows facing the land, that window is the guest room window. That window is large and it exposes the guest room to the walkway so we drew the shades almost all the time. Also, unless someone is walking around naked in the Hawaii Building with the curtains drawn doing a hula dance, all the action is on the lake side of the Bungalows. The kitchen, living room, patio, master patio and plunge pool all look out over the water.

Yes, we could easily see directly into that bedroom from our third floor rooms in Hawaii, so well that we could see the pillows, decor, people sitting on the bed, etc. Keeping the curtains closed when you are in that bedroom in the bungalow is a good idea, lol.

You can also see some of the bungalow decks from some of the Hawaii rooms. Was just wondering how well you could see into the Hawaii rooms. From the path, you can't see much in the daytime, more at night-- I assume at night from farther out at the bungalows you can see even more.

What I'm wondering is if the large back windows and doors on the lake side of the bungalows have curtains or blinds or something. Those ferries go right by with hundreds of people staring right into the bungalows. Yes I already know, no skinny dipping in the plunge pool, lol.
