I've heard of this, too. I don't think it's going to get result Disney the result it wants. We were planning to stay three nights at a universal resort in January, then move to AKV. We've usually rented points because it's cheaper. But if had a good BB or AP rate, I'd have booked through Disney just to have the flexibility in changing out dates. If the flexibility is gone, I'll just rent points and get travel insurance.

I agree...The results are definitely not going to be what Disney is expecting! A lot of people on the GF thread are saying they'll just cancel their reservation and book a room at the Four Seasons if the dates don't work and Disney "can't" change them!

Speaking of Floaters......last visit, DH ordered me a Large Grey Goose slushy, with the floater....OMG!!! So good I had another!!

I'm really looking forward to the Grey Goose Slushie!! I've been wanting to try one for years, but we were never really at Epcot in the evening unless we were heading to a dinner reservation. That's one of the reasons I'm so excited about our BC trip... It's so easy to walk to Epcot!

:welcome:

Let us know the dates of your trip if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

As another poster has responded, yes, there is/are toasters available in the BC Marketplace for guest use.

:goodvibes:

Thanks! I'm super excited for our first trip. I'd love to be added to the list. Our dates are August 20-26. thank you!

Aaaagh!! I'm so frustrated. We are taking a trip 6/6-6/13 to Disney. Originally I wanted a BC/Poly split but couldn't get the BC for the dates needed. There was always one day (the 10th of all things) that wasn't available. So I finally booked a Poly Standard view room for the whole time. I'm pretty concerned about the construction though so I have been continuously checking for BC rooms to open up plus we do love BC. Finally today an AP discount room opened up for 10-13 and I was thrilled. I booked it and then went online to adjust my Poly dates. Here is where my frustration starts (continues??) when I try to reduce my room nights to checkout on the 10th it/Disney website won't let me do it. It treats it like a new booking and only gives different classes of rooms (i.e. more expensive ones!) for the reduced days. So frustrating since I know the room is there but it won't let me keep our standard but just for less days. Now, I have one room booked for the 6-13th and the other for the 10-13th until I decide what to do. :( Blah! I really don't want construction during out whole stay but was willing to gamble on part of it. Plus, I wanted to check out the new Poly pool area and the Trader Sams. Rant over. Anyone have any luck calling vs. booking online with this sort of issue? I tried calling and the guy just said he didn't see availability for those days and wasn't flexible. I wonder if someone else would be more willing.

Disney has indeed begun enforcing this policy. Supposedly it's always been around but rarely enforced. They only offer a certain number of rooms at each discount and within those certain number of rooms, they only offer a limited number of 2 night stays, 3 night stays, 4 night stays, etc. If you want to make a change to your reservation booked with a discount, you are only allowed to make that change if those nights are currently available with that discount with that length of stay. It defies common sense (it's shouldn't be difficult to add or subtract nights) but unfortunately it's Disney's new policy. Keep checking back though. Rooms open up all the time (as long as the promotion is still going on).

Yes, the whole room reservation thing is driving me batty. I was totally floored when they refused to change it over the phone. Oddly, if I reduce it to checking out of the Poly on the 9th I can keep the same room but then I need another reservation for the night of the 9th and really didn't want 3 separate reservations. I can get another resort for that time but it's not what I wanted to do so I won't be as happy AND Disney will make less if I switch resorts. Crazy! Surely not the intended results. :(

It was crowded, and we ended up talking to this one poor guy who was holding his 60lb daughter who was fast asleep and no one bothered to give up seating for the guy.

I think that is disgusting!! I don't care how tired I was. Can't imagine not giving up my seat for a person holding a child.

Caps fans here too!! My eldest plays and will be a peewee this coming season. Cheering for the Ducks for the rest of the playoffs.

no not the ducks! :duck:

eldest DS is hard of hearing, and we found AHIHA (American Hearing Impaired Hockey Association) when he was 4. The day they were teaching him to skate, a HS Kid was practicing on the same ice - and somehow hit a puck hard enough to sail through the air and hit DS and knocked him down, the coach (I think a HS Kid) carried his limp body off the ice, and dh and I ran down to him - he looked up, sweat and tears and all, and said "Mom I made a friend" my heart cracked... Hockey is the BEST thing that entered our life! Hockey is Life! He still gets on the ice, he didn't qualify for the Deaf Hockey Olympics (his hearing, not deaf enough) but he still helps Deaf kids...

and the AHIHA summer camp was filled with coaches from Univ of WI and of course Stan Mikita's "friends" (i.e. Blackhawks) Imagine going in to a locker room to see THE STAN Mikita on his knees tying your kids skates! I'll never forget it - and Stan replied "no mom, I'm not a former pro player, I'm just Uncle Stan"

Blackhawks! #onegoal met

To all those who have served, to all who are serving, and to all those families sacrificing their loved ones for our benefit, let's never forget...

Thank you

Katesdad

Thanks for the reminder that today we honor men and women who have sacrificed all to serve in defense of our country. Blessings to those lost, and to their families and friends.

Hi friends! My husband and I are visiting WDW for our anniversary this year (after having a really TOUGH year.) Our plan is to take it easy, spend most of our time at our resort, pool, and surrounding area and then hit the parks at night when it's not as hot. We were originally booked at the Poly, but last night we decided to switch to the Beach Club! It was a battle between food and pool. The Poly (IMO) has more counter service options readily available near the pool area, but SAB was something that my husband was SO excited about (and I'm usually the excited Disney person, so I couldn't resist his enthusiasm!) Please reassure me that we'll have enough quick breakfast & lunch options available to us that we won't be bored, since we'll probably be doing breakfast and lunch at the resort every day.

I've also been looking at the amazing Touring Plans building layout to see what type of request we want to make. We have a garden/woods view room (with a PIN code!!!!) I also looked through the BC room view thread and would love something like this
Beach Club Room Views (post #56)
I'm nervous we're going to get one of the rooms on the back side facing BCV. Ideally, we'd like to be close to SAB and the lobby since we'll be spending most of our time in that area. Should we make "close to elevators" one of our requests? Are the elevators the little black rectangles on this map? http://touringplans.com/hotel_maps/160/building?hotel=226&building=160&filters[view]=any&filters[rate_date]=2015-05-25&filters[rack_rate]=any&filters[ug]=&filters[lobby_distance]=any&filters[sound]=&filters[accessibility]=any&filters[transportation_distance]=any&filters[floors]=any&no_draw=true&rooms=false&floor=3

Thanks for any help you can provide, and sorry for so many questions!! I've been researching the Poly for a while and now I feel like I'm behind schedule!

Just brought my DS to Logan this morning. He entered the Army almost one year ago and went through Basic, Officer Candidate School, and Military Police trainings. His short leave ended today and is now enroute to his first set of orders in South Korea where he will be for the next year.

I'm very sad but very proud. Thanks for letting me go off topic BC/YC friends!

So exciting! You have the BC marketplace for quick service, but you also have cape may buffet, captain's grille (way cheaper than cape may buffet, but you can also order off a menu), ale and compass has a few quick-grab items, or walk over to boardwalk for boardwalk bakery or trattoria al forno's breakfast. And you can walk into epcot for the french bakery which opens at 9am-ish.
