DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Have a blast.

Watching the live cams at MK and Disneyland. Wish I was at either place right now.

Me too. Like the feeds out of DLR a little better. Watched the parade in MK and was able to see the top of the floats. the setups in DL, I think I will be able to see the whole parade there.

Henrik Lundqvist is pretty upset with his performance of late. 12 goals in two games.
He was so upset that he stepped in front of a bus. But it went between his legs.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Reminds me of the old Mitch Williams joke against my Phillies way back when. But this goes against the Rangers, so it's automatically funnier.

Aaaaand...
I headed off toward The DCL Terminal in Port Canaveral :woohoo:

Have fun storming the...boat.

Have Fun Storming The Seas! Wait a minute, that doesn't sound right... how about, Have A Great Cruise!

What he said!

Good Morning Disney Fans,

Today in Disney History:
1983:
Disneyland continues with the grand re-opening of the new Fantasyland.
The children of the original kids that first crossed the drawbridge in 1955 are the first to re-enter twenty
eight years later. In the presence of Mrs. Walt Disney, the drawbridge of Sleeping Beauty Castle is lowered for
only the second time in the park's history! New attractions include Pinocchio's Daring Journey.

Tokyo Disneyland welcomes its 1-millionth guest.
(The park has only been opened for less than 2 months!)

Composer & Disney Legend George Bruns passes away in
Portland, Oregon at age 68. Among his musical accomplishments -
Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me) co-written with Xavier Atencio & used in the
Disney theme park attraction Pirates of the Caribbean and the movies based
on that ride, The Ballad of Davy Crockett co-written with Thomas Blackburn,
and Love for the Disney animated film Robin Hood.

Morning Guys.

Watching the cam was pretty cool yesterday, someday it would be nice to attend that event.

Hope you are all getting good weather for your long weekend.

DW and I talked about that last night, and if we could actually do the whole 24 hour day. I can still the RD to park close, but those last 6 hours would be the true test. Here in our great state known for its exceptional education and dental care, school is in session to the first week in June to make up all the snow days. But, they just finished with all the tests on Friday. Thus, if we had scheduled this trip, then my dds would have missed finals. But, they still have 8 more days of school now to make up for pajama day, movie day, field day, etc. We could try and book a cash room at the end of Feb/ first of March once all the snow threats are over as I doubt there would be any DVC availability.

Been a good day here. Spent the day doing as little as possible, watched DS and his soccer team win their league opener with a dominating display of ball control and possession soccer, unfortunately that did mean we missed DW race in her first 5K. Pretty proud of her, she finished with a time just over 32 minutes good enough for 88th out of about 230 runners and 18th in her age class.

Good Morning Disney Fans!

Today in Disney History:

1968:
In recognition of his distinguished public service and outstanding contributions to the
United States and to the world, U.S. President Johnson presents a Congressional
Gold Medal to the widow of the late Walt Disney. The Congressional Gold Medal is an award
bestowed by the U.S. Congress and is, along with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in
the United States. Disney had also been awarded the Medal of Freedom back in September 1964.

Nice. What was the final score?

Congrats to your DW! No wonder you're proud!

I spent yesterday getting the pool prepped for DD18s friends who are coming over today and then lying down sick.
DD was at a Grad farewell dinner/dance last night. It was out of town (about a 1/2 hour drive). DW and I had to drive her
(it was a rule. Not sure why exactly since it was a dry event). Glad when she pulled the pin early at midnite thirty.
Got home around 1am.
Totally sucked when the alarm went off at 5:30 for work.

Sure. But what's he done lately????? o_O

Long day yesterday. The weeds had returned, so I cleared, sprayed, bagged, and lava rock covered about 120 sq feet area around air conditioner. Way too much work. I enjoyed the Premier League soccer this AM and now watching the French Open.

Just finished watching the Indy (was at work, so DVR'd it.)
But something interesting happened first.
I bought two tickets for Kay (DD14) and a friend to go see Pitch Perfect 2
She asked if we could pick up her friend on the way to the show.
Sure. It's almost on the way. No biggie.
I told Kay we'd leave at 6:50, pick up her friend at 6:55 - 7:00 then drop them off at the show around 7:10-7:15. Plenty of time in case there's a crowd.
So at 6:45 or so, I'm getting ready, Kay asks me where a certain part of town is.
"Uh, about 20-30 minutes away."
Five minutes later she tells me we need to pick up her friend in this part of town.

I lose it.
Now I didn't really think it was my responsibility to drive about an hour out of my way to pick up this girl...
but I would have, if there was a good reason.
But DON'T TELL ME ONE MINUTE BEFORE WE LEAVE!!!!

I was not a happy camper.
So I'm upset. Kay gets upset and says "Fine! I'll just take the bus and watch it by myself."
It's Sunday. Evening. There's probably no way she'll make it by bus either.

And then...

And then I found out what happened to her friend.

She was at another friend's place for a sleepover.
That friend tells her to take the #16 bus to get to the mall near her house.
She tells her grandmother to meet her there at 6:00.

I don't know what happened but... She's never taken that bus.
I'm not sure if she's ever taken a bus on her own.
She got lost. I'm not even sure if that bus goes there on Sunday.
It's a weird looking route and I couldn't make sense of the schedule.
Whatever.
She was on the bus for two hours and unfortunately that area of the city is, well... beat up.
There were drunk people on the bus.
Eventually she recognized a landmark where her friend lived and went back there.
(The bus is on a loop, she must've ridden it all the way around.)

Poor kid was crying and upset. (No wonder.)

So I picked her up.

They made the movie with 10 minutes to spare.

Now. As for the Indy 500.

Great race! Even though my guy wound up in the wall.
But it reinforced just how much they need to get rid of Eddie Cheever.
Thought he was a pompous arrogant a** when he was a driver.
Now he can add ignorant to the list.

Exhibit a. At one point, a driver is told to go to fuel map 4.
Scott Goodyear points out that they're going to start saving fuel.
About 5 minutes later, Eddie pipes up that there's something they haven't talked about yet.
Some drivers may be starting to save fuel!
Way to go Eddie!! Here's your sign!

Exhibit b. Scott Dixon dips two wheels below the white line on the back straight to signal his intention to pit.
This has been a common practice for .... I dunno 10? 20? more? years? Everyone does it. Everyone knows about it.
Pit windows are coming up. Dixon's been the first in for a while now. He dips below the line.
Eddie: "Whoa! What kind of line is Dixon taking! He went way low on the track!"
Goodyear: "I think he's just coming in to pit. Yes there he goes."
Atta boy Eddie. Here's a sucker. Go sit quietly while the grown ups watch the race, okay?

:sad2:
