We are! Our plans kinda changed a bit from initial due to the way the crowds were but I think everything ended up working out nicely. We're going to attempt Darth Mall tomorrow when Hollywood Studios opens since it didn't go so well today. (No Carbonite Popcorn Bucket for Me)

Citricos

I was able to leave work shortly after 3:00PM & we were on the highway heading to Disney by 3:45PM after a pitstop at the gas station. I got the room ready text message at 4:15PM of my room number and location, too bad it was going to be another 2.5 hours until we would be able to use it! The car ride was uneventful other than some work drama in text messages. (You know how you have that one person that is never a team player? I have some thoughts on that person but I'll behave here)

Right at 6:45PM, we pulled into the Polynesian, showed the guard our magic bands and were able to head straight to parking and to the room. We are staying in a studio at the Polynesian Villas. For two people, this room is great! The amount of storage would suck though for any larger group of people, especially if it was a long stay.

After settling in our room, we debated on which bar to get dinner at when my husband mentioned to look at what was still available on the website instead. We found that Citricos had an opening for 2 at 7:50PM. This was the perfect amount of time for us to head to the TTC to renew my annual pass (it expired on May 1st) and then hop on the monorail over!

Typically when going to Signature Restaurants, it is better planned, and we are dressed nicely. Well, today that didn't really happen. I was in jeans & my Star Wars Rebel Challenge Tech Shirt where as my husband was in shorts and a Star Wars T-Shirt. I felt underdressed but then again I remember that people don't really follow a dress code anymore most of the time at the signatures.

We were seated at a 4 top in the main section of the restaurant and looked over the wine list for a while. I was trying to wine the buying of the Foxen Block Chardonnay bottle but my husband didn't want to spend that much when weren't really dressed for a nice long dinner. We got a bottle of Selbach-Oster Riesling instead. We also agreed on better wine for our dinner the next night.

For dinner, we were boring and both ordered the exact same items.

Slow Roasted Pork Belly w/ Anson Mills Cheese Grits, Smoked Jalapeño, Sweet Onion & Hibiscus BBQ Sauce

The cheese grits were so good! They ended up being the highlight of this dish to me. The pork belly was good but it wasn't as tender as it could have been as it felt it hadn't been slow roasted long enough.

For our main course,

drh220L.jpg

Pan Seared Ashley Farms Chicken Breast, Pea & Tarragon Risotto, Wilted Tuscan Kale & Roasted Chicken Demi-Glace

We both finished our respective plates off! The chicken was cooked very well and still was juicy in the middle. The pea and tarragon risotto had a nice sweetness to it that played off the chicken well.

We skipped dessert and walked back to the Polynesian. We were going to Trader Sam's but the wait was going to be 90 minutes so we just headed back to the room to watch the premiere of Wayward Pines while I dealt with some work emails.

Wow those rooms are amazing at the the DVC Poly addition!! Citricos looks lovely, too bad the pork wasn't cooked just right. The chicken looks wonderful as well. 90 minute wait for Trader Sams is way too long for me! I am spoiled going to the one at the DLH as I always walk in and either get a table or a seat at the bar.

That chicken dish at Citricos look wonderful! We will have to try this next trip. Hope you enjoy your weekend!

I really liked the rooms at the Poly. We only had one issue during them when someone decide it would be a good idea to turn on a leaf blower at 1AM for about 15 minutes. So strange!

We always enjoy Citricos! I've been totally spoiled by good pork belly so I know when its slightly underdone but at least all the flavor as there!

I think Grog Grotto will get better as time goes on as it is still so new. I could have sat at the patio but I wasn't going to that alone that evening. My bill there should also get smaller once I finish off my tiki glass collection from there.

Citricos is one of our favorites! We've always enjoyed our meals there. Our weekend was great! Rather expensive as I ended up buying 2 expensive items and drinking a far amount but totally the recharge we needed!

We're home now, unpacked and enjoying the rest of our weekend before work tomorrow.

EPCOT Flower & Garden Outdoor Kitchens

We arrived at Hollywood Studios around 7:15AM for the opening day of Star Wars Weekends.

We were able to get some rides done and then head to some of the SWW events, mainly the shopping. The lines for shopping were 4 hours for collectibles and 2 hours for the normal merchandise. We didn't feel like waiting in a line that long or dealing with the crowds so we hopped over to EPCOT and will deal with the $20 ADR same day cancellation fee we would get from the Brown Derby since we did miss our reservation from leaving early as we wouldn't head back to the park just for lunch.

After enjoying a handful of rides at EPCOT, we were ready for the booths when they opened at 11AM.

Taco al Pastor - Corn Tortilla Filled w/ Achiote Marinated Pork Garnished w/ Grilled Diced Pineapple, Onions, Cilantro & Salsa Verde

My husband & I split this. The pork was really well flavored from the marinade! The salsa and pineapple played well off each other with the pork when you took a bite. I kinda wished we would have each gotten one instead of splitting!

Lotus House

Kung Pao Chicken Bun
Kung Fu Punch - Vodka & Triple Sec w/ Mango & Orange Juice
South Sea Storm - Guava w/ Light & Dark Rum

I had gotten the Chicken Bun during my last minute April trip and didn't enjoy it. My husband had wanted to try it though so I wasn't going to stop him. He really liked the chicken inside the bun but didn't like the steam bun much. I ate his red onions as why waste perfectly good onions?

I enjoyed the South Sea Storm and it was super refreshing. The guava was more of a soda then a juice but it still tasted really good.

My husband really liked the Kung Fu Punch as it was all vodka & juice!

The Smokehouse: Barbecue & Brews

mxc3PFq.jpg

Beef Brisket Burnt Ends Hash w/ White Cheddar Fondue & Pickled Jalapeños

As I know how much I enjoyed this during April, there would be no way for my husband & I to split one and not fight over it. My husband looked at me funny when I ordered two but he soon learned that I was smart. He said it was amazing & he was glad I got him one all on his own to have. The meat wasn't as burnt this time so it was even better than last time. We both cleaned off our plates!

vyUYNNX.jpg

"Piggylicious" Bacon Cupcake w/ Maple Frosting & Pretzel Crunch

We split this but we pretty much mostly just ate the frosting. The cupcake was more like cornbread with some bacon pieces in it which wasn't bad but we would rather save stomach space for French Ice Cream. The frosting was really nice with tons of maple flavor!

CfFO3pH.jpg

Frozen Lemonade w/ Palm Ridge Reserve Whiskey

This cocktail was what I wanted! Just enough whiskey to give it a kick but not too much to make me not able to have another drink before leaving the park. It wasn't completely frozen yet but it was still early in the day not long after opening but that didn't matter to me.

Japan Sake Bar

4dhNr1w.jpg

Hana Awaka - Sparking Sake

I know this isn't part of the Outdoor Kitchens but I got this while we were shopping in Japan. This sake is sweet and floral & hit all the right notes to be refreshing while dealing with the heat outside!

Your sampling looks great, I wished I had gone to the smoke house but I just could not eat anymore that day I was solo sampling in Epcot! Last time I want I SWW was two years ago solo and went at night to but the regular merchandise with no line at all! Ain't nobody got time for those kind of lines :rotfl:at least this girl doesn't :thumbsup2

Don't know how I missed the start, but I'm here now. So jealous you can drive a few hours and be in Disney.

Your villa looks amazing. Thanks for the pics.

Love the last minute ADR score, right up my alley.

Mmmmm, your F&G items looks great. Especially the burnt ends, good call on ordering two. I just read earlier today about the sake booth in Japan. Not sure how I missed it before, but gotta try me some sparkling sake

I'm sad to have missed the F&G festival this year but at least we'll be at F&W in the fall! Great reviews so far! We love Citricos too, I'm glad its still not too popular so we can still get last minute reservations most of the time :)
