Buying alcohol for cruise

I want to bring a couple bottles on our cruise but we are flying to Orlando and then, after a few days, boarding at Port Canaveral... my question is... where is the best option to purchase? Distance? We wont have a car...

Since you do not say where you are staying, it might be difficult to help. I would just look for a liquor store that is close to where you are staying and then either walk or take a taxi.

If you are staying on property and can use the WDW transportation system to get to Downtown Disney, there is an ABC Liquor Store about a mile from the entrance. It would require taking a taxi, but it's only about a five minute trip each way.

Still dont know exactly where we will be staying because dates arent even available yet def one of the Value Resort Hotels, maybe POP or All Star Sports... that ABC Store sounds like a great option!

This is one of my favorite liquor stores on earth. Not only do they have a great selection at reasonable prices, but every time I go there I'm about to take a DCL cruise!

ABC liquor store has a website abcfws.com I stayed at the airport Hyatt. They deliver to your hotel. We were going on the Panama cruise and I had quite an order, lol. But they are fabulous and will deliver smaller orders also. After I ordered online I called and spoke to a live person just to confirm my order with all delivery details, etc. Then notify your hotel that you are expecting a delivery

Thanks!

Now I have another question... I know I can board with how many bottles I can fit in my carry on (is that correct? even, lets say, 4? I am talking big liquor bottles just to be clear)

And another thing, I suppose these are for private drinking (in room) but is the security that strict if, lets say, I am walking around the ship with a huge mug (something like the pic below) and I am zipping away and just keeping relaxed someone will come up to me and ask what is in the mug or something?

You may bring onboard how ever much you wish. Just be aware that you have to wrangle your bags (keep them with you) until the rooms are ready (usually around 1:30).

As to carrying your drinks around the ship, this the policy on the DCL website:
  • Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area.
  • Guests who arrive in the dining room with a bottle of champagne or wine that has been brought on board will be charged a corking fee of $20.00 per bottle.
  • Beverages must be packed in your carry-on bag—which must not exceed 22 inches wide, 14 inches high and 9 inches deep in dimension

That being said, do people do it anyway - yes. Should you do it - I guess it's up to your personal beliefs as to whether rules apply or not.

We used Cape Canaveral Liquors on our last cruise. They were wonderful to work with AND deliver to the port. You can either place the order online or call.

I made mixed drinks in our cabin and put them in a reusable water bottle to carry around the ship. No one knew what was in them and no one seemed to care. Enjoy!

Our cruise leaves Monday morning, here at the house we have quite a few liquors and we need help deciding which ones to bring. Does anyone have any recipes for simple mixed drinks on the ships using what's available at the fountains, e.g. rum and coke.

If anyone can tell us if they have ginger ale I wwould HIGHLY recommend whiskey, my fav mix!

Thanks! I know rules are rules but in all honesty I would just take a drink around the entire ship so no biggie, right? "Save" a few bucks I will end up spending on other Disney stuff anyway

This is a touchy subject. Lots of people do this and no, no one will come up and ask you what is in your cup. But if people continue to break the rules, DCL could change their very generous alcohol policy and prohibit cruisers from bringing on their own booze. They did try to change it once and reversed course due to the backlash, but there's nothing that says they won't try again.

There is ginger ale in the MDR's but not at the drink stations. I always just bring a couple of small bottles with me. Also I have a Tervis I would fill and carry around with me. No one knew what was in it. I only used it for coffee or water but could have had a rum and coke and no one would have known.
