I know there is another thread floating around on here about packing cubes that I've been reading, I had never even heard of packing cubes before that (crazy right?!). Now I am very interested in purchasing some and wondering what everyones favorite brands are, seeing that it looks like a lot of you use them :)

There are lots of good brands out there. I bought Travelwise packing cubes and they were durable and roomy. I also have Eagle Creek cubes and I have to say they are much lighter weight than Travelwise. For me, I wanted them for organization. My husband and I were able to pack all of our clothes for a 4 night cruise comfortably in a large size cube, even with room to spare.

I have, and like, Rick Steve's cubes. I like that they have mesh top and sides, which makes it easy to see what's in each cube. Though I take issue with the name "packing cube" in that there's nothing cubical about them. "Packing rectangular prisms" is probably too wordy, though. :)

For compression packing, I use Eagle Creek Specter Packing Folders and I can't say enough good things about them.

For me, it's the Eagle Creek Spectre compression sets and I order them at TravelSmith via my Aadvantage Shopping account so I get American miles while buying what I love! And I always wait until there's a sale. Here's the link to the ones I have:

I have another brand, it's a large compression cube and definitely a heavier fabric. I like it but not as well as my sets of varied sizes of my Eagle Creek Spectre bags.

Thanks everyone. I'm excited to try them out! I tend to be a bit of an over packer so maybe this will give me some room in the suitcase for souvenirs ;)

You'd fit right in with my family!:rolleyes1

It may be because I started with Eagle Creek a long time ago - but I still really prefer them. I bought DD some ebags ones. While they work fine for her, I still like mine better. (She's 10 - she got the ones on sale. :) But it cracks me up that she totally gets how to use them, and they work well for her.)

I prefer eBags brand packing cubes ( http://www.ebags.com/category/travel-accessories/packing-aids/packing-cubes/b/ebags ) I have several colours and a bunch of different sizes, both of which help with organizing.

My sister uses some eBags bags, but prefers the Eagle Creek Pack-It Specter series ( http://shop.eaglecreek.com/pack-it-specter/l/231 and sold through various vendors; not usually on sale, but occasionally a vendor will have a rare sale on them OR a % off coupon that can be used on them). She likes the cubes and sacs. When we got them they only had the white with different coloured trims, but now they have some other colours as well.

I also like the sacs and have a few -- one thing they are handy for is to put the things I want to put in the room safe into one of the sacs -- it keeps everything together and makes it easier getting stuff in and out of the safe (plus, being it is all together, less likely to miss something).

We use a combination of Eagle Creek cubes and the Ebags cubes.

Ebags. And if you have a Southwest airlines visa & a rapid rewards account you can get sometimes 10 points/$ for ordering them. If you are buying several, that can add up to a lot of airline points!

I learned about packing cubes in this forum and SO glad I took that advice! I like ebags best, although I have a few Rick Steeve's bags (mostly mesh). Love the ebags colors to easily identify content or ownership. As others mentioned, zippers seem to be good quality. I even use ebags to organize hosiery in my drawers at home! Just returned from Aulani and everything stayed neat and organized in my ebags! put one in my carry on for me and one for my husband with a full change of clothes in case our luggage was lost/delayed.

We use a mixture of Eagle Creek (purchased at REI) and IKEA. We also use SpaceBags a fair amount if we're only taking carry-ons (like for our upcoming trip). I prefer the cubes to the space bags as I don't have to unpack out of the cubes, but we can pack a lot more when using space bags. DH and I have different color Eagle Creek sets, and we picked up an IKEA set for DD (<$10 for 3-4 bags - can't beat the price!) that work just as well. We also have some odd colored smaller cubes we've picked up along the way.

I managed to pack for a 2-night 3-day trip to a conference in Orlando in a medium cube and only taking my backpack (work laptop included). It was great only having one bag to worry about!
