It's saying that Nintendo is teaming up with Universal for theme park attractions. Pretty vague at this point, but it got me thinking.

There have been rumors that Dr. Doom's Free Fall will be closing soon, and the Hulk is supposedly getting a makeover or work done.

What are the chances this could signal the end of Marvel in Universal parks and they sell the rights for Disney to have them completely and potentially in Florida?

All speculation, but I could see this happening if Disney pays up for it. Nintendo has a big following and could draw a lot of kids to the parks with some Mario, Donkey Kong, Pokemon and other Nintendo attractions.

What do you guys think? Pipe dream or plausible?

That was a thought I had as well. It would make financial sense for Universal, because selling the rights to Marvel would mean huge money and they'd be replacing it with something they'd have much more control over with a very large fan base that are willing to spend money.

There's also still those rumors of a third park, realistically you could theme a whole park around Nintendo, but that isn't going to happen. One can dream.

Sources have said multiple times that Disney isn't going get those rights for the forseeable future. Stinks for them.

Nintendo is losing relevance with the kids of today. They'd be better off getting the rights to build a Minecraft land lol.

I would have to agree with you. I don't think Pokemon and Nintendo are as relevant as they were 10 years ago. While the Wii is the best family gaming platform, I think a lot of parents give their kids a tablet and a call it a day. They do a lot more than a system would ever do, and they are portable.

Needless to say, I do think a Nintendo land would do the park some good, and would attract a large audience. But in terms of the new generations, I can't say I agree with that.

You do know that one of Disney's best selling items in the DS...which is portable.

This is confusing to me, did you mean Nintendo's best selling item is the DS?

And I am in no way suggesting that Nintendo isn't relevant at all. I know it still is, but the number of kids I've seen with tablets instead of gaming systems (including those that are portable) is much higher recently. I also think parents are attracted to the tablets because games for the DS cost significantly more than a game on an iPod.

Maybe it's just me. It's just something I've noticed. :confused3
