Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

While we anxiously wait for the race weekend theme, I would like to know: what exactly are Vinylmations used for? I saw them for the first time this past weekend and the Wikipedia page isn't helping me much. Are they just collectible figurines?

Thanks!

Vinylmation are just collectibles. They used to make mini medals for them to wear too. I bought the Everest Challenge mini medal last year and put it on my Minnie Runner I got at the marathon this year. It's fun to collect ones from movies you like or neat sets. You can trade in the parks (since most are mystery when you buy), but they have cut down on locations you can do that now as each park has only 1 store you can trade at.

They also have large ones besides the 3" ones and have had mini ones come out too. Special events always have ones come out.

OMG. IDK what they're for, but I. WANT. ONE. NOW.
Haha! Glad to know that I'm not the only one! I was intrigued by the rD logo.

I think they are primarily used to separate you from your money. :)
Makes perfect sense to me! :rotfl:

They are really cute. And somewhat small. About 3" tall. Here is ours compared to a bobblehead you get at a baseball game. Go Nationals!
Thanks for the picture! I am not very familiar with baseball, but go Nationals! :teeth:

Very helpful description - thank you! I might have to pick one up now.

Just checking in again... We're moving house this week, and have no internet connection at home yet, so I am currently living in the dark ages lol!

I can't believe RunDisney haven't uploaded the new training plans yet! I'm starting to wonder if we will see them at all. I mean, what's really the point of uploading them once people have already started training using last year's plans? (Apart from leaking the theme to us of course!).

I don't 'get' vinylmations. If I'm not buying something I can use, I'll take a Jim Shore figure any day :-)

Stil nothing...Shouldn't the DDD training start this week? They haven't updated that one yet either.

Re: Vinylmations. They aren't "used" for anything - they just sit on the shelf. I have 1 from 2013 and I only bought it because you could buy the tiny medals with it. Mine has tiny medals from the WDW Half, Marathon, Goofy and Wine & Dine from that year. Once they stopped making the tiny medals I stopped buying the Vinylmations. :(

Like you can do that :rotfl2:
HEY...what's that supposed to mean?! :rotfl:

Ugh, good luck with the move!!

I agree about the training plans...I mean, if they have a training consultant and a training plan page, it sort of seems like they should keep it up-to-date...not that keeping the website up-to-date has ever been a big priority for rD...

Yep. I think the half and DDD should start this week and that 10K should start next week. :confused3

So, I dug around for a good hour or somesuch late, late last night trying to see if I can find something. But the I get to where they've locked down the virtual directory and I hit dead ends.

I will say this ... for the races run this year, while the file names are 15 designated, they are uploaded to the 2014 folder in the directory. A 2015 folder does not exist yet, so they're not just sitting back there waiting for someone to turn them on or replace links.

Anywho.

But here's this awesome story to get all you first-timers excited about a trip to Disneyland for the Anniversary!

Thanks much for your ongoing efforts, Keels!

I'm nowhere close to being a first timer and this makes me SO. EXCITED. FOR SEPTEMBER! @SgtTibbs, I'm going to buy my Anniversary Party ticket!!! as soon as my wallet stops crying from the WDW Marathon weekend registration.

I'm waiting on the Anniversary Party tickets too. The % hasn't changed...I check frequently in case it's close to sold out. I wish I could sign up to Marathon Weekend...I keep tempting myself and seeing that Goofy and the Marathon are both still available...DH would KILL me. Must stop looking at the rD website.

Ok. I'm going to reply to this thread, but I hope I don't disappoint anyone thinking the training plans are up. :rotfl:Just wanted to say that I have that same skirt fabric, Ariel. I bought it from an Etsy seller if anyone else is interested. It is just the skirt, nothing underneath. $25, I believe. I'm not at home to check the seller, but I know I found her by just searching Disney running skirts on Etsy.

Does it look like there's a 2015 folder JUST for Pixie Dust Challenge?? Am I reading that rite on the (still not updated) site?

:rotfl:I jumped a little. Chill pill needed!

So rD updated their website to take down the Expedition Everest Challenge page (didn't waste much time there) and add in a link for the Disneyland Paris Half Marathon. So someone is doing SOMETHING over there...just not uploading the training plans. :sad2:

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!

I LOVE the Villains idea.

Doesn't Snow Queen/Magic Mirror figure big into Fantasmic too? It's been a while since I've seen it (2014) ...

Of course even when they put the logo out, it raises more speculation than answers. Leave it up to disney to create more mystery than answers. The logo could mean what it is.. The kids, 5k, and 10k medals will be the magic mirror from Snow White. Then again, it could mean a villain's theme or the medals for the kids race and 5k could be Snow White and the 10k the magic mirror.

Anybody have the logo from when it was Alice theme? Was the logo pretty direct? I know last year it was pretty direct with stitch.. The medal for 10k was only stitch (no Lilo), kids race only had stitch, and 5k had LILO and stitch.

'Zactly on the mystery vs. answers!

I've changed my mind. It's going to be Fantasmic! themed I think. A lot of the Diamond Celebration at Disneyland is revolving around nighttime events (new World of Color, Paint the Night Parade, new fireworks) - and F! started at Disneyland.
