2015 Magical, Magnificent, Mighty May WISH challenge! All are welcome!

Oh, I understand!!! :goodvibes All my trip report friends are constantly behind on all the threads they follow and then one is busy writing one owns TRs! If you ever feel like reading one of mine, they all are linked in my signature and come with handy links (the newest one does not have links yet as there are some issues with the new software). I like going to the TR sections and find one to read when I am sick at home and daytime TV is just too lousy and I don't have the energy to focus on a good book! Makes very nice easy reading. Especially since I got an iPad and can read in bed... :thumbsup2

I usually pop over there when I have time to kill at work.
Have fun with the Avengers, I going to see it with my girlfriends on Monday (including a visit to a pizza place beforehand.:scared1: I am already saving my weekly extra for that!).

I actually DID enjoy it! The theater has been recently renovated and added oversized recliners!! SO COMFY! And I indulged in my homemade brownbag popcorn and a WW 2 pt bar plus a liter of seltzer (also from home). I will admit to grabbing a handful of DS's popcorn when mine was gone (all too soon), but that was it! Other than that I stuck with my plan! And as a reward I treated myself with a light beer when I got home.... and STILL stayed within my PPV for the day!!

BTW, the movie was good too....:p I'm not really into Marvel or anything like that.... but I watch it with my guys...otherwise we wouldn't find much in common to do together!

Pjilla...my son took SATs today too. I did the closet changeover from winter to summer. FINALLY!

THat's a good job done for the season! We are really just experiencing our first REALLY WARM days this weekend, so it hasn't been in my mind to do the closet change-over quite yet. For MANY, MANY years I had a house rule that you could ONLY have the amount of clothing that fit in your closet (other than heavy coats) year round! And it worked well for a long time (the kids closets are really large).... but when I lost weight and wanted to buy more and more clothes, I changed the "rule" for myself ;) I have a few armloads of stuff that travels back and forth between seasons.

Back again for May. =) Going to try to join the losers this month, I put on a couple of spare pounds over April (hopefully water weight) that I'd like off again.

WOOOHOO... you're back!!

I so agree about the TR board being a huge time suck. I love lurking there when I'm on call at night, I can read through them for hours.

Enjoy Avengers! Let us know how it is!

It was good! For ONCE I actually understood what was going on in an action-adventure type movie! Waaaaayyyy too much punching and fighting for my taste, but I suppose that is the nature of a superheroes type movie.

So yesterday marked one year to the day since I first walked through the door to my gym. At that point I was a walking medical disaster- IBS, plantar's fasciitis, migraines, maaaaaybe verging on depression- and I was exhausted with living that way. It certainly isn't an easy change to make (as everyone here knows), but looking back it just blows my mind what a difference a year can make physically and emotionally. Pretty much all of my medical issues have cleared up, minus the plantar's if I'm not careful, and I just feel more... human, I guess? It's weird. Anyways, last month was the worst month I've had since I started as far as eating/being lazy goes, but you guys helped me push through. =) Hoping for a great May!

WOWZA.... you are a walking, talking success story! You should be SUPER PROUD of yourself... and what an inspiration to others. Thanks for sharing that with us!

pjlla thanks. I will. Pathology test take two weeks to get back.

They really shouldn't make folks wait so long for important results like that.... but they do. I'll be praying for you for the next two week.

Hi everyone. I think it is time I come back. The last year has been a whirlwind. It has been about a year since my dad died. It was thesame day I was named Teacher of the Year. Iwent back to school in Sept with my mind made up that this would be my last year. After 38 years I think it is time to leave. I have spent all those years in the same building. I also hit 60 in 4 weeks. It is time to move on. This past Feb my father in law passed away in his sleep so I havebeen watching dh doing a great deal of things forhis mother including spending all day Friday with her.

You are right.... this past year has truly been a stressor for you.... both in good ways and in bad. Glad you made the decision to retire and take some time for YOURSELF!!

My AP students take their test on Tuesday and that makes the rest of the year easier.

I agree! DS isn't taking any APs (definitely makes my life a little easier), but his girlfriend is and wasn't able to make their scheduled movie date for today.... but we understood.

I just booked a trip with dh and a couple of friends for October to Disney World. We will be celebrate my retirement and our 60th birthdays. Dh will turn 60 when we are down there.

HOW WONDERFUL! I'm SO jealous!

I do want to set a couple of goals for the month. My eating has been getting better in the last couple of months. My biggest goal is getting back to working out. My weekly yoga class ended 2 weeks ago when the instructor couldn't fit it into her schedule any more. I do get a daily walk most days with our dog but I need more.

Will try to get back tomorrow.

Hope you find a new workout!

I'm here!!!!!!!!
I need to be back in, my eating habits have tanked since Christmas and my weight has skyrocketed.
So my goal for May is 5 pounds.
My daily challenge is squats every day and 75 miles by the end of the month.

SOOOOO very happy to see you back!!!

PS I missed you guys!!!!!

I missed you too!!!

Hey friends! Happy SUNDAY! And the day DEFINITELY fits its name around here today as we are having SUN!!:sunny: I'm excited to have a really WARM day for a change.... but I was just about to strap on my sneakers for today's walk and I am realizing how WARM it really is! Guess I had better get out there before it gets any warmer!

No QOTD for today.... just a prayer that it is a fun, relaxing, invigorating, no-stress day for YOU ALL!..................P

Good Sunday morning everyone. Just checking in. I have been to church and then helped out a service at a local nursing home. Dh is out walking the dog and will be planting the 3 lilacs he just bought.

It is a beautiful morning here in New Jersey. It is warm now but where we are the breeze will start to kick in a couple of hours and we will get cooler as the afternoon goes along. I am not going grocery shopping today. I think I have enough stuff to keep us until Tuesday when I have the day off. My students are taking their AP test and they are using my room. Since I can't be in there for almost 4 hours I have decided to take the day off.

I have got some sewing to do this afternoon and evening so the day should be a quiet one.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Thanks for reminding me that we have some lilacs that need to be cut back and moved this year. I'll be sure to add it to DH's "honey-do" list! ;)

Good for you for taking a day off for yourself! It was lovely and warm and sunny here, but the clouds started building a few hours ago and then it started getting windy and it sprinkled a bit.... just long enough for me to bring in the laundry from the line and clean up my rakes. Then, of course, it stopped and the black flies came out.... ICK!

I raked a while longer, but am tired of swatting away the biting bugs! Found a snake in my leaves and got DS to take a quick picture of him before I sent him on his way! And YES, I do have pink gardening gloves!

Anyhow.... DH's trip to the hardware store SOMEHOW turned into a trip to Costco (which is an hour away.... not sure why he went that far), but that makes things easier for me because he is bringing home a rotisserie chicken and a bag of salad mix for dinner.... no cooking for me tonight! :yay: DS was begging for pizza anyhow, so this makes things easy (since DS can't eat chicken, we don't have it often.... it feels like a treat!).

Anyhow........I'll be back in the morning to post a fresh new QOTD for Monday, but I won't be able to chat much because I'm off to work in the morning.... so forgive me if I just rush in and rush out! See you all in the a.m.!..............P

well my month has started out spectacularly. We are broke broke broke! But at least I have food in the house except for vegetables. Hopefully Stop and Shop will have some good deals this week.
Being broke seems to either force me into getting creative food and entertainment wise or sends me into a tailspin. Hopefully I can keep it up and get creative.
I will not stress eat. I will not stress eat. I will not stress eat.

Good morning! First of all.....

And I'll be back in one minute with today's QOTD!.............P

Good Monday Morning!!

Today's QOTD is in honor of #nationalorangejuiceday !!

How do you make sure that you get the proper vitamins and minerals? Do you take supplements? Do you try to eat vitamin-rich foods? Or is this something that isn't even on your radar currently?

I'm off to drink my coffee and eat my oatmeal and pack up my lunch! I'll pop on tonight AFTER my walk!...................P

Sorry that May is starting out on a bad note for you. I can totally understand that feeling of needing to get creative! Dig deep in your pantry and freezer and I'll bet you can come up with some fun meals! And of course, there is always grilled cheese, scrambled eggs, and "garbage" soup (you know, that "little-of-this-and-little-of-that" soup made with canned stuffed, leftovers, and pantry overflow)!

Earlier this year I had a few months where I had to pull a rabbit out of my hat for meals at the end of the month.... it was a good time to use up that stuff that had been languishing in the pantry. Not every meal was a homerun, but we didn't go hungry!

Carrots tend to be one of the cheapest fresh vegetables out there.... so I've done mashed steamed carrots, roasted carrots, carrot soup, carrots with hummus. And of course potatoes are nice and cheap.... so how about a baked potato night??

Anyhooo.... I'll be thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way today!.................P

I'm sorry you're broke this week but well done for not letting it make you eat! You CAN do this. Just think how proud you'll be when you get to the end of the week and you know that not only did you make wise food choices but you did it on a budget!:thumbsup2
There are some good recipes on the healthy eating thread that are budget friendly so you might want to pop over there for some inspiration or if you want to post your staple food items on here I bet everyone would help out with ideas but either way STAY STRONG and you will FEEL GOOD. Sending happy thoughts your way :goodvibes

Funny I give my kids a vitamin every day because I worry about them hitting all the right levels but rarely take them myself. I occasionally buy them for me and take them for about a week and then give up:rolleyes2 Why is that?? I resolve to start again this week though if I'm honest I'd rather get the vitamins and minerals through healthy diet but I need to start that again today as I did ok Monday-Thursday this week and then lost it over the weekend so I'm right back to where I started last Monday  So cross with myself as I had wanted to be down this morning when I weighed in and I'm exactly where I was last Monday
I know where I went wrong but I need a strategy so my weekend family time doesn't keep derailing me!!

I'm here! Sorry I was MIA the end of April, I had gone to stay with my mom for a few days after her knee replacement surgery, and I was just flat out exhausted. Trying to catch up with all the post so great to see so many participants in returning faces ! And :welcome: to our newbies! I'll be back with my catchup , however disclaimer for me I'm on the homestretch of graduation party. Posting maybe skimpy for me LOL

Good morning every one!! Last year I celebrated May the Forth on the Disney Wonder on my way to the Panama Canal... Today I am sitting in my boring office...:sad:

I know things could be worse - like for Buffy!! I hope you will find lots of creativity and come up with some wonderful really cheap meals to get through the month! :stir: (I know this looks not very delicous what this smiley is cooking, but he looks very determined...).

QOTD:

I am taking the Vitamin D that my doctor prescribed (and I think it is really really good for me!!). Besides that I try to get my vitamins from eating healthy. I have started to take one teaspoon of linseed oil that is enriched with evening primrose oil together with my vitamin D to ensure that I have the fats that are necessary to ensure that my body can actually use it. I am quite good at hitting my five a day on a daily basis (even though I tend to have a little too much fruit compared to veggies). I eat a lot of whole grain products, which I think contain more vitamins as well.

I just realise that this all sounds like I am perfect in what I eat, but that is far from it!! But over the last two years, my eating habits have definitely improved!!

I take B12 and iron usually because I am vegetarian and seem to get low levels in my blood tests. I also sometimes take greens.

I had a really bad eating weekend. Back on track today and May the fourth be with you all for a great week.

Every morning I wake up with a One a Day Men's Health, I take a 1400mg Omega 3, and try to get the rest of my RDA via healthy eating a High protein low carb diet.

I do take multi every morning. I also take some extra calcium, D and magnesium. I also have been taking some fish oil.

Last day before my students take their AP test. My 2nd year students are excited that they will taking the test in our classroom. They are a little nervous about a student from another school. If your school does not offer a certain AP test you can take it another school. We have a 7th grader coming in from a local private school. I don't know who is going to intimidate who.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Howdy all! I'm back a bit earlier than planned. My men have robotics tonight, so I had to come right home and get some portable dinner cooked so that DH can take it along when he goes to get DS. And it was too warm to walk earlier (I am NOT complaining!!!), so I'll wait until the sun goes down a bit.

Busy day at work and I got a lot of steps in going from place to place covering short meetings.

It seems like many of you are at least AWARE of the need for vitamins and minerals! It astounds me how many people think that is just a bunch of hogwash! I think it is important to get as much of that as we can from our foods, but since none of us eat a PERFECT diet, supplements certainly help. I am not as diligent about taking them as I should be, but DH is great about it and DS has to take pills daily anyhow, so it is easy to make sure that he gets important supplements along with those pills every morning.

I'm off to do a bit of raking now that it is cooling off a bit, then I'll feed myself and go out for my walk! TTYL................P

Checking in...so far so good for my step goal. We'll see on Friday if I am making any progress toward the 5 pound loss goal. Have a great evening everyone!

Sorry to hear that. =( Hoping that May picks up for you! Just remember, when all else fails, you can make some delicious combinations of rice/beans/lentils/frozen veggies for cheap.

Oh man, I've been struggling with this one for a while. Just based on MFP, I'm usually on/over my vit A/C, iron and calcium targets. Potassium, though? Don't get me started. I'm pretty sure those levels are always low despite my efforts. When they get really bad, I'll sometimes wake up to excruciatingly bad charlie horses in the middle of the night. I keep a container of potassium tablets next to my bed for when that happens because eating a banana in the middle of the night with a mouthguard in- recipe for disaster.

I sometimes will take a vitamin D tablet when I feel blue, I find it perks me up a bit in the winter especially.

Multivitamins are reserved for days where my eating falls apart and there's no hope.

Funny I give my kids a vitamin every day because I worry about them hitting all the right levels but rarely take them myself. Doing well Monday-Thursday is great! Honestly, when I used to weigh myself once weekly it I'd usually do it Friday. I'm pretty good at eating clean during the week, but then blow it on the weekends. By weighing on Friday, you've got a whole week to lose any water retention you may have gained over the weekend (for me, one night of bad eating can equal a gain of about 5lbs overnight. Clearly not real weight, you just have to let your body get it all out). A nice accurate measure is to actually weigh every day and look at the average for the week. Helps with day-to-day fluctuations.

I take B12 and iron usually because I am vegetarian and seem to get low levels in my blood tests. I also sometimes take greens.

I had a really bad eating weekend. Back on track today and May the fourth be with you all for a great week.

I'm also a vegetarian, but I've never had problems with low iron or B12. I've never figured out why that is, considering how my diet used to be they should have been down the toilet. It's definitely good that you're keeping on top of it, though!

Meal prep Sunday!

Prep05-03-15.jpg

Black bean meatballs in tomato sauce, stuffed pasta shells, fruits and veggies and chocolate banana proats! My poor hardboiled eggs didn't get fully cooked somehow so those are out as a snack. I also made bread a little later (was craving it so bad and didn't feel like walking to the store- clearly making it is the easier option?) that I baked in a muffin tin for portion control. Please ignore the empty wine bottles top right. ;)

I didn't have the greatest weekend health wise (but it was fun!), went out with friends, aggravated my foot problems, felt generally awful after said night out. The foot part scared me away from the gym for a few days, but I went to see my trainer today and he forced me to stop whining and get to work. Also had a few tricks up his sleeve to stretch out the faschia in my calf, which alleviated a ton of the pain. I may pay him way too much money but I don't know what I'd do without him.

Dona, enjoy your day off today! :cool2:

Pamela, you are a brave woman for wrastlin' that snake -- although it was probably more scared of you. :faint:

Trith, your meal planning rocks! :rockband:

How do you make sure that you get the proper vitamins and minerals? Do you take supplements? Do you try to eat vitamin-rich foods? Or is this something that isn't even on your radar currently?

I try to hit all the important stuff through diet but take a multi-vitamin and calcium every day to make sure that is the case. :thumbsup2

Good morning and HAPPY Cinco de Mayo!

cinco de mayo.jpg

Also.... HAPPY TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY! I'm not sure, besides Dona, who we have for teachers, but THANK YOU to any and all!!
