Free Dining Fall 2015? (and a whole lot more)

Quick Q about a split stay

Our dates for our stay are 6 - 15 Nov. FD dates start on the 9th (or 8th depending on the rumor).
The best option for us would be to do a split stay 6-8 & 9-15...but how does that work with the tickets?
If we book the FD package for the 9-15, that includes the tickets...but since the tickets get cheaper the longer you stay, I dont want to end up doubling up on the tickets. ( 3 day ticket for the first stay and the rest included in the FD package).

What's the best way to do this and maximize savings?

Thanks in advance!
Idk if someone answered you but you should book the tickets on the second portion of your trip. Resort concierge can activate the tickets 3 days early. However, you won't be able to make fast pass reservations for the first portion of your split stay, until they activate the tickets. We just went through that last year.

If I have already booked and paid for my trip, I can only add free dining by calling right? I can't do it online? I'm from Australia and would love to avoid a costly international phone call if possible.

If you go into My Disney Experience, they added the option to modify your reservation online. For the general public offer, this would allow you to modify it somehow to include the free dining. If you are going to do the visa cardholder offer you will have to call.

I am also lurking on the excitement here!! I am planning our first trip to Disney and DH already thinks I have lost my mind. I am so glad to have found this group for the knowledge and people that share my excitement for planning the trip!! I'm not sure how I'm going to keep the trip a secret from my children for the next 5 months!!!
:welcome:!!! Keeping it for 5 months would be super hard for me! We told our son the last, and he was 4... He didn't really understand "time" so he asked everyday for 6 months when we got in the car if we were going to Disney! Lol :rolleyes2 :crazy2:

Yes, they will credit it back to the card you used. When you add the dining plan, they can credit it back to you right then.

Why am I thinking when you make reservations you have to pay a deposit? Of is it that they just need a credit card # to hold the reservation so if you are a no show they can charge a fee to your card?
I got on here before going to bed so that I would not have 10 pages in the morning to file through, but based on the number of alerts popping up as I type......I suspect a lot of pages as the lurkers are coming out of hiding. The funny part is I'm not sure we are getting FD at this point as it being only 2 of us and we prefer the freedom to not have preplanned times for eating...........but I don't want to leave because I'm hoping to hear RO discounts come out at the same time so I can figure this out of what works best.
Honestly I'm afraid....I'll be gone all afternoon....OMy gosh what will happen here.

Pixie dust pixiedust: to all.

Where in MDE do you see this? If I go under "my reservations," I see no option to modify or cancel. Is it somewhere else?

Not sure if this has been asked, I couldn't find it if it has...if April 30 or May 1 is in fact 'the day', will it possibly be announced prior to that or do we just call or go online that day and hope the FD is being offered? The 6am online opening time is early for us westerners (3am!!) so it would be nice if we knew before!

Did you book with a TA or through Disney? I don't have the modify button either and booked through a TA. Maybe that makes a difference?

Ok, so I did all my pricing on Value, plus upgraded dining, plus possible park hopper option... And it's only about a 250ish difference than a moderate. I was super bummed about the possible PH requirement at first, but it doesn't add "thaaaaaat" much more for our family of 3. We always plan full days in each park, and don't hop.... But it would be nice to try it I suppose....Im still hoping for a PIN, we've gotten them for just about every offer...even if it required PH as well, I'd be happier spending the extra dough if I were able to choose the resort I "really" want.... ASM or POR.:cloud9:

I've seen you say this multiple times in the thread. Should I go ahead and book a pop century room now and then add free dining when its available or should I just wait it out for the offer to launch?

If you would only book at Pop with FD, would not book now. If you have your heart set on Pop FD or not, would book now. Remember, the thought from last year was that two resorts were taken away at the last minute because pre-FD bookings were high.

Wow good for you if you can keep it a secret!! What an awesome surprise!! I could never contain my excitement for that long! My husband thinks I'm crazy, too but I just can't help it!

I only see the option to cancel my booking:

What exactly do I need to click on once I've logged in to change my booking?

On mine there is a link in blue letters under cancel- says modify reservation.

The first year we went as a family when our kids were 12 and 9, we kept it a surprise. We told them we were going on vacation but to a local mountain town. It snowed and snowed and snowed a few days before we were supposed to be "there" (mountains). The kids were all packed with hats, gloves,...all the winter garb. I had to repack their suitcases with shorts, swimsuits, etc. while they were at school and then we gave them an envelope on the way to the airport that had the Disney luggage tags. They FREAKED out. It was the best surprise for them but it was soooo difficult to hold onto the secret. In every year since then, we tell them we are going but always have surprises planned (ie. where we are going for dinner at Disney) as well as other things along the way such as swimming with the dolphins at Discovery (not a Disney property), trips to the ocean, etc.

Mine has a 'modify' option as well as the 'cancel' option. Weird that it doesn't give you that option?
