I have a really random and very embarrassing
question to ask on behalf of my DH. Maybe Teena is best to answer it, but I will ask all of you for your thoughts. Our family has been on many very wonderful WDW trips in the past 10 years. Like really wonderful, extremely magical, we've done things most people haven't been able to do kind of trips (like my dad won the Cinderella Castle stay and stayed with all the grandkids in the castle overnight kind of wonderful). That being said, our trip last year was horrible. Really horrible. We had the magicband disaster of all magicband disasters, and all of our fastpasses, ADRs, EVERYTHING were totally wiped out and could not be recovered. Furthermore, our bands did not work to get into our room, into the parks, we could not use meal credits for the
DDP, couldn't charge anything to our room, etc. We spent over 30 hours in 2.5 days trying to get things straightened out, we had to sleep in our van one night because we weren't able to get access to our own hotel room, and we had to go over 15 hours without food or anything to eat because we (unfortunately believing everything was finally fixed after totally canceling and rebooking our vacation) accidentally left the room without a photo ID, cash, or credit card. We couldn't charge or buy anything, the resort couldn't let us in our room without verifying our identity, and nothing worked with our bands. We essentially had paid $7500 for our vacation to be stranded with nothing to do (couldn't get into a park or even our hotel pool), nothing to eat, and nowhere to stay. It was that bad! Anyway, there's a lot more to it, but that summarizes it pretty well. It eventually got worked out and we enjoyed the last 4 days of our week long trip, however, it wasn't pretty to get to that point. Our struggles unfortunately culminated in DH completely losing his temper in the lobby of the Beach Club. He really did. On our third day of dealing with this and after being ASSURED that everything was fixed for the fifth time, we went to our ADR at Beaches and Cream. When we finished and tried to pay for our meal, we were told that we had not purchased the DDP, had no dining credits, and our charging privileges had not been activated. I paid for our meal with a credit card, but DH wanted to use a dining credit since we had purchased the plan and were now half way through our trip and had been unable to use the plan yet. The manager seemed to understand and said that a resort lobby would be able to help us. The manager walked us over to the BC lobby and explained the situation to the staff. They got the manager, and she was wonderful at trying to help us. However, the end result was that we would have to pay for a cab to go back to our home resort to try to spend another full afternoon fixing our problems. We were out of cash, the manager refused to give us a voucher for the taxi, and we were once again feeling stranded. DH, who has never lost his temper in our 12 years together before this (or again since), lost it (remember that our family of 6 had spent the prior night sleeping in the van...it was crowded and we had paid a lot for the vacation that we hadn't yet used after 3.5 days and 30 plus hours at guest services trying to resolve). He yelled at the manager...very loudly! Then he kicked a garbage can and walked out. The Disney police and local police came, but since DH had already removed himself from the hotel, no action was taken.
Anyway, we spent another 9 hours trying to resolve the problems with our reservation and then finally carried on with our trip. Long story short, we are staying at the YC in 2 weeks and DH is afraid to go into the BC lobby. Should he be? I'm totally serious. He's really worried! He's such an even tempered guy and this has bothered him ever since it happened (last May in case any of you happened to witness this). I've told him not to worry, that it's unlikely ANYONE will remember this and I doubt they have his picture hanging up or anything
. But in all seriousness, he's freaked out and pretty much refusing to go into the BC under any circumstances.
